@@Mythowars Ever notice how Liam Neeson rarely ever talks about Qui Gon Jinn? it was a simple paycheck for him. Not every person that has worked on Star Wars did it because they were a fan as it was more so to collect a paycheck. There are other notable examples like Harrison Ford playing Han Solo and he hated the character and wanted him killed off ages ago but George Lucas refused because of merchandise sales. The other notable example being Alec Guiness' role as Obiwan as he hated the role.
@@_gungrave_6802 Ford did not hate Solo the man said himself he felt that Solo served his purpose and that it was only right to give him a memorable death. Why would he hate a character that gave him bank? Now does he hate the fact that people shove that character down his throat? Different story
I’ve heard some concerning things about Liam that happened when he was a teacher Have you ever come across anything like that? It had to do with one of his students I think Honestly I don’t know what to think of it. But I’m 95% it’s smoke. But I’ve never seen anyone mentioning it
@@Cheddar_Wizard Frankly, screw the lore. If it makes people happy and brings in new fans and keeps what the whole thing is about in the first place, then who cares? This is fiction, not history, fiction. Breaking "lore" here and there shouldnt be this big crime.
@@andrewvasquez7872 It’s blatantly lazy and contradictory, and exhibits poor writing along with the contrived escapes and other conveniences (Darth Vader is somehow blocked by a fire he started?) along with the toddlers that can outrun adult professionals (they even wrote her dialogue to be incredibly unrealistic for a child.) The show is a cesspit of mediocrity and a Bible of criticisms could be written on it even if we choose not to bring lore into the equation.
Qui gon was my one of my favorite jedis they killed him off WAY too soon and they also killed off darth maul too soon. Mace waa cool and had too much screentime for someone who wasnt invested in the kenobi-skywalker relationship. I’ll always like qui gon
1:11 seeing them here together again just makes me so happy... it's amazing seeing Qui Gon, Obi Wan, and Haydens Anakin all together in one episode, really brings the prequel trilogy full circle... not to mention how it beautifully ties it to the original trilogy.
@@Сайтамен Don't act like I just like seeing actors back together, and that's ok... cause TLJ was a massacre, I think Force Awakens was a massacre... Just cause you bring actors back doesn't mean something amazing... but if we saw Han, and Luke together... I mean I realy don't care what they did is my point. I hate the sequel trilogy, so don't act like I just merely want actors together, and that's it. Trust me, you're talking to the wrong one lol. It was just sick seeing Qui-Gon, seeing Hayden Anakin, and Ewan all together in one episode, tied it together.
@@Сайтамен I agree, but I think we’re all talking about his importance in the prequels, not in Kenobi. And yeah, it would’ve been cool for qui Gon and Obi wan to have their first conversation while Obi wan was under the rocks or something.
I really like the use of both Qui-Gon and Palpatine’s returns in this show and how they work for both Obi-Wan and Vader respectively. If you want to believe what Dave Filoni’s says about them.
@@borek92 proves you never watched the Kenobi show, dipshit. Palpatine/Sidious/the Emperor/ talked to Vader via hologram in the final episode questioning if his attachment to Obi-Wan makes him weak.
Phantom menace has a warm place in my heart, for everyone around 25-30 it definitely does feel personal, the fact that at such an early age all most of us can remember is the amount of merch there was even long after the film came out so to me that makes this bit certainly touching
As a 25 year old, clearly i grew up on the prequels. We got the worst of it from the original trilogy fans during that time. I didn’t know not one person that liked episodes 1-3. It was free game renting those at blockbuster 😂😂. It sure does feel good to see so many people genuinely appreciate the prequels, and have all hate go towards the sequels 😭😭
Remember the soda cans-pepsi i think-that had the character pictures on them? And yes we had all the toys, practically collected them all. We went to see PM THREE times back to back after premiere night. My mom as a joke would wear her lipstick like queen amidala😂😂😂 and we had the plastic light sabers too, the ones u had to push down to put in their cradle. Oh my goodness and the video games! Playstation 1 and 2 released around the time of the prequels
I actually liked the movie very much and I was over 30 when it came out!. My reason is that I was enjoying it with my son who is in your age group. What I really liked is that it gave the Jedi backstory and showed how badass they could be. In the original three, Luke was not proficient with the light saber and the fight scenes were very wooden and uninspiring. The fight with Darth Maul was awesome!
I had obiwan pencil box in kindergarten and a Darth maul lightsaber, loved it so much, remember my mom telling me obiwan was the young guy and me thinking that's impossible he was old in the last film lol. And my sister loved jar jar she would constantly tall like him
hmm, ill have to check that movie out. hes one of my favourite actors, been a fan of his work for my whole life. i was growing up when ep 1 came out, and it was the first movie i saw him in, so hes always been qui gon to me lol
They wont do another, it was conceived as a one off series, besides there's no where for the story to go Vader/Luke wise (just have to be Obi Wan going off on some off world adventure, which would be just like 'ok but why do a series of that')
@@bozotheclown169 if that is the case, then why the hell didn't they just make it a movie instead of a show? That was the original plan for the Book of Boba Fett, but they changed that and we all saw how that turned out in the end. It just doesn't make any sense to have it as a TV show if they are not doing a second season. That being said, I really enjoyed the show, but it really should have been a movie if they are not going to do a second season.
After watching Tales of the Jedi two days ago, hearing from Liam Neeson about his beloved return as Qui-Gon was Soo hearttouching! ObiWan finding him was so emotional!
I was in tears watching this. Liam, you have no idea how much the Star Wars community misses you. You have brought millions of people to this universe, thank you SO MUCH for being YOU. I cannot imagine a universe without you sir, you are untouchable, a figure in the star wars universe that will never be replaced, thank you for EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE!!!!!
The Phantom Menace came out when I was 6 years old and I remember it to this day. It is still my favorite star wars movie and to see 24 years later, Ewan and Liam both together as Qui Gon and Obi Wan just sent my little heart aflutter. Oh the nostalgia and the memories. They made my childhood so awesome!
When Liam says ‘obi wan needs help’ I feel the same sometimes,no qui gon, just reaching out to my father, been gone over 20 years now Greatest man ever ❤
One of the most exciting scenes I've ever seen. I waited for every episode of the series to see Qui-Gon again and finally I am not ashamed to say that I cried at the end because Master Qui-Gon Jinn is part of my being a Fan, it was beautiful!
The final scene was so beautiful, seeing those two characters on screen again after all these years, I really hope they decide to move forward with more of the Obi-Wan series, I'll even take a movie if they want to do that direction
Just think about that time lapse. Liam in 1999 was a well established actor with lots of experience working with a young upcoming actor in Ewan McGregor and 24 years later Liam sees Ewan as a grown man with an amazing career himself. Truly heartwarming
Liam shows so much love for his role as Qui-Gon and the way he happily jumps on board with the idea of portraying him again is just so wholesome and pure
I love Qui-Gon. Easily one of the best elements of the prequels. Good performance in The Phantom Menace and the character was nicely written by George Lucas.
It makes perfect sense for Qui Gon to show up as a force ghost, as HE is the first Jedi who learned how to become one. If anything, we should see a lot more Force Ghost Qui Gon. I also have always wanted a series based on Qui Gon and Obi Wans adventures, during the time when Obi Wan was his apprentice. I would even settle for animated, as long as Neeson and McGreggor voiced it.
no it doesn't. it's a retcon, qui gon himself stated that it is not possible for him to be a force ghost, this show simply chose to ignore that, I think it's fine I like this scene alot, but it does go against what was said before in the clone wars show.
@@kenm2709 In RotS Yoda outright states Qui-Gon was able to “reach immortality through the force”. There was a whole cameo set to be around that plot point that got ruined because of medical reasons.
Well, even if he _re-opened_ the way of the Force ghost - Qui-Gon still is a first Jedi in the millenias who deemed worthy of it. And that fact makes his death even more tragic.
Putting all the gripes I have with the show aside, seeing Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn again did hit me right in the feels. I still remember sitting in the theatre at 7 years old watching the pod race scene and being in absolute awe at the CGI (which still somewhat holds up today, especially the scenery), and of course the final battle between Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon and Darth Maul. I'm extremely thankful to my parents (or may have been my grandparents, I can't remember) for taking me to see it. I'll forever cherish those memories.
The Phantom Menace is amazing!!!! And these scene gave me chills beyond belief!!! Great to see this reunion. Still wish there was more material from Vader’s perspective. Meaning Padme visions and flashbacks
Cool thing about Liam is he was made to look a lot older in TPM so he can still believably play Qui-Gon live action more than 20 years later. Now he really is around the age he was playing in the movie.
I really want Liam to continue acting as Qui Gonn is Star Wars projects even if it is voice acting or as Force Ghost. He emits the sort of wiseness a Jedi master would have
Liam should be added to the end of Return of the Jedi, as Luke turns his back and returns to the party - without Qui-Gon, the other three spirits wouldn't have materialised!
@@rorschach36 Duh, I've been watching his films in those 23 years, nearly every single one... I'm saying within the last 2 years he seems to have drastically aged.
I love how even when they're not filming and just discussing how the scene is supposed to play out Ewan is just standing there stroking his mustache like Obi Wan. 0:56
Legit shocked he was there. It felt like he filmed it in a closet. Not being hateful it just felt disjointed. I fucking love that he’s actually there and they got to reunite.
And given his son Micheal voiced Qui Gon's younger version in Tales of the Jedi tells you something. They intend to keep Qui Gon close to Liam's heart and they did it well.
It must have been amazing for Ewan to have these reunions with the likes of Jimmy Smits, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, and especially Hayden Christensen and Liam Neeson.
I publicly vowed to eat my own right hand if Qui-gon didn’t show up in this series. … I was getting pretty nervous by the end… pretty down to the wire…😅
I really love episode 1, and it brings me so much joy to see the two Jedi finally meet again after such a long time. (The Clone Wars apparition doesn’t count, but.... that was sweet, too).
why would they bring him back just for basically the “end credits” scene? at least have him do some voiceover stuff for earlier in the show… also, his hair is longer 🤷🏻♂️
@@therealmistahjay - we’ve never had a “use the Force, Luke!” moment for Obi-Wan, where he’s the one who needs guidance… this was the chance, but they missed it. Obi-Wan spent three movies and a TV series trying to fulfill Qui-Gon’s shoes… he does by the time _A New Hope_ rolls around, but I couldn’t tell you at what point in the Ewan McGregor tenor he actually does it… can you?
I grew up with Liam Neeson as Qui Gon Jin. I always admired his leadership and kindness. I honestly found him and Obi-wan to be great role models for me. I always wanted to grow up to be a good mentor like them. So this hit me in the childhood and now I'm crying. So happy. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY to see Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor reunited
i absolutely love that even if hes been in the star wars universe(IRL not voice in the clone wars) for only a little bit, Liam still loves the character
It's very magical of the makeup and costume team to get Liam back to how he looked back in Episode 1 years ago, Like Ewan said, it felt like time didn't pass and it was like they are still doing the prequels.
0:56 1:02 adore the juxtaposition there of Ewan's expression and pose--he's standing tall and looking Liam in the eye like adult Obi-Wan/Old Ben would do, but the tilt of his head and the obeisant look in his eyes as he listens eagerly is young Padawan Obi.
I just wanto to see more of Qui Gon and Obi Wan in live action! The chemistry between Ewan and Liam is something special. Disney needs to make the most out of this.
