2024 and yet I still keep listening to this album and MMIX. I remember coming across the band back in the old MySpace days. Downloaded their material ever since 2008 I believe. Such nostalgia.
The picture unfortunately set's the mood :/ making me think about somethings I havent been wanting too. Liam has to be one of the best bands out there.
this song in particular maybe not Black metal. Maybe it just escapes the whole being Kvlt or satanic. But if you ever heard Atmospheric or DSBM, you would think quite differently. I dont see the issue mostly. its a subgenre of music. confusing subgenre or not... theres no denying how amazing this is to the majority of people who love Black metal in general. Maybe not Black Metal. Maybe BlackGaze. Maybe this genre is too diverse to be even called a genre of music. its magical really... I suggest if you dont like the people talking about the genre itself... you ignore and go in listening. Because this. is art. and its beautiful no matter what way you put this in. Ive been a fan of DSBM or Atmospheric Black for about 2 years. I hear the influences, tremble picking, double bass, slow melancholic atmospheres, walls of surrounding and dreamy guitars. This may not be BLACK metal... But definitely uses its elements to create something REMARKABLY beautiful...
Tale of the Misanthrop I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing the genre? Genres are a tool in finding the same kind of sound that you like specifically but in different variations. Such as artists or separate bands. Its the elitists that you need to watch out for. The ones that get all passionate over something so simple as a tool. I have no issue with someone talking about what sub-genre of metal THIS is. Simply because its a good question to ask. When I first got into DSBM or ABM, I asked myself, "what genre are these guys!?" I wanted more, needed more. And that's how I found this kind of music. It's necessary to have Genre and Sub-genre. As long as its not approached simple minded and immaturely.
I prefer album version (II), sounds better there, however I'm impressed with the effort and time Herbst puts to reach certain level of sound production. Some Lantlos songs did exist for some 2-3 years I believe before album releases…
they're no longer a band unfortunately, havent been for quite some time now. but they've evolved into a band called Lantlos which you should definitely check out, they're just as amazing!! i definitely recommend Melting Sun or the Wildhund albums, they're a very psychedelic band, but in the best way possible and i love them very much.
***** no becaude if you listen to there other albums there are some songs with vocals ! BlACK METAL vocals . Explosions in the sky has no vocals as far as I know ! But ok try again
Are you fucking high you do not listen to DSBM obviously if there only vocals ever used were blackmetal that most likely indicates there genre leaning more towards a black metal sound
So I don't like this crap, mainly because of the FORCED association with black metal. There is nothing black or metal about this buttramerrific spectacle.

It's a cowards approach to Black. Remove all weak metal elements and you might have something decent and authentic. As it stands right now, everything Back Metal about it is intentionally scaled down to make this more accessible and 'pretty'. Just stop jerking us off and drop it already. Their strength is not in metal, so don't appropriate it to give you a false underground background. And if you actually know anything about DSBM, you will know that the 'pretty' elements are the brief moments of release, after a significant amount of tension, strife, agitation, rage. Those negatives are what makes DSBM, not the release itself. This is not Black Metal, it's not Black-anything. But it doesn't have to be. Just be your own thing.
