Liberace winking at the camera. Watching these celebrities in these clips really accentuates how much time has passed and how much things have changed.
+soapbxprod I am a lot!! Thank you for taking the time to upload them!! PS: I actually watched His Girl Friday for the first time several weeks ago, and I saw you on one of your videos discuss who your grandfather was and when I looked him up I instantly recognized him as "Louie" from that film, that's awesome.
+NickAndTommyFight Well thanks a whole bunch! Are you on Facebook? If so, please send me a friend request, and you can browse through my photo albums- I have tons and tons of great stuff from Old Hollywood and Vintage Vegas there. My grandfather was quite a prolific actor/director. His brother was Herbert Biberman, director of "Salt of the Earth" and President of the WGA and husband of actress Gale Sondergaard (winner of the first Best Supporting Actress Oscar). He was the leader of the "Hollywood 10". And guess what? He really was a Soviet agent. My grandfather disowned him when he found out... Luke Sacher
+westy40 Thanks for tuning in and taking time to comment! If you want to see all the Vintage Vegas uploads on my channel, here are the links to my home page and video uploads:: ru-vid.com ru-vid.com/videos Almost all of the 60 and 62 Sands Summit footage is uploaded, except for the "straight" songs (due to publishing copyrights). As to Vintage Vegas... and in particular Frank, and Joe E. Lewis... I'm in the process of editing selected silent footage from my archive that Sonny King gave to me back in 1998 when we produced the A&E Bio of the Rat Pack- here are a few great links: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I8cNdF86YlY.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aAQa58bVaSs.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aAQa58bVaSs.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TazZy22hZUk.html Best Wishes, Luke Sacher Praeses & Soapbox Productions Inc.
I was just watching a video of Johnny Carson from 1986. He said that he'd know Liberace since the early 1950's, when Carson was still doing radio, and referred to Liberace as "Lee". I've never heard that before. Interesting. I had no clue that the two went back that far.
I remember as a kid watching his show, and he was always flamboyant. My mother and aunts would say "he really loves his mother"! I guess that was a euphemism for being gay? Everybody loved him!!
Okay, I should wait until I've watched an entire video before commenting! In this same video of Liberace on The Late Show with Johnny Carson, Liberace refers to Carson as "Jack". He also mentions that between noon-to-3pm he is unavailable as he'd gotten hooked on soaps while touring, saying that was the only time of day he had to himself. Word got back to the people in the three soaps he kept-up with and he was invited to play in an episode of "Another World" in a wedding scene. It is so cool! The video quality is cool, but worthy of viewing. I have to say I was surprised to see Liberace playing a Baldwin piano! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3LLnbcuMpSQ.html
After my comment regarding being surprised to see Liberace playing a Baldwin, I viewed a couple of Liberace videos and it seems that all of his pianos were indeed Baldwins. Again, you are correct!
