I was born deaf. There are certain things that I can feel it's vibrations. Not many sounds get threw to me that way but Liberace's music always did. So I'm thankful to him and his talent. Thank you mr Liberace for bringing me the gift of music in my silent world
Holy fuck did you manage to haul in a lot of commenters who, while maybe aren't deaf, are definitely tone-deaf. What I want to know is, did the vibrations only come from his hands and the piano, or did they c(o)me from other parts of him as well?
One of those stars big in his time no one ever talks about today. Young people probably have no idea who he was or what he did. There was a Liberace museum in Las Vegas that relatively recently closed up due to public inactivity. He's essentially been forgotten.
Very few people can still get away with something extravagant like this. He was the highest paid entertainer of his time, and he made sure we all knew.
@AllGuts NoGlory what do you mean resources are dwindling? First off you can legit just buy the exact same cars he bought but I dont get what you mean by fancy cars look like cheap cars unless you've only seen the mainstream Lambos. Him pulling up in the Rolls Phantom would be like if somebody pulled up in a Bugatti Centodieci today... And there are definitely entertainers that have similar houses to his; all you need to look at is an episode of MTV Cribs. His clothing has never been tasteful IMO but look at people like Conor McGregor... I'm pretty sure he even has a Rolls Royce to boot... there are plenty of people that live like he does and flaunts it; the only difference is Liberace was gawdy to say the least and today's entertainers only like to show the appearance of wealth; regardless if they actually have it or not which weakens all of it since people who are actually wealthy began living more tastefully since flaunting it just makes you look like a tool
@AllGuts NoGlory you've said alot... mostly about fashion which I dont know much about; I wear exclusively tshirts and jeans except for the rare polo or something... but as far as cars go; the 80's and 90's were the absolute worst year for styling because they didnt have any... everything was generic box then bubbly blob; theyve just started to become more unique... but the way car styling goes is in phases, go back to the 30's and even if you dont know that car you might know its era; 30's were big round fenders, long hood etc. 40's were smaller versions if that but more... consumery? They were smaller and had more subtle styling. 50's were more low profile and rounded edges with certain styling cues (fins, bullet lights etc etc). 60's were big engines in big beefy cars, 70's were low and long with sharper edges with a focus on comfort. 80's were generic boxes, 90's were bubbly blobs, naughts were bubbly with sharper edges, and between than and now theres been a huge push for eco friendly which results in the sharper edges mixed with the flowing lines... every decades' styling is dictated by what a consumer wants... back then they didnt give a fuck about fuel economy which is why cars like the Mustang exist... then they did and the Mustang II exists... Point is is that itll always come back around; in 30 years there'll be someone saying exactly what you're saying... "cars in 2040 are bland and generic.... I wish we had good cars like the 2019 CTS-V" "fashion back then actually had style, nowadays everything's just mass produced and cheap"... there'll be a girl crying about being born in the wrong generation while clutching a Taylor Swift CD... this has happened throughout history about everything imaginable. People are inherently conceited and nostalgic with the need to go against the status quo...
My grandma dragged me off to see Liberace one time while I was visiting. I was eleven and had no idea about gay or camp or anything like that. It was like watching a cartoon. Because he was touring Canada he had an RCMP red serge uniform made. It was covered in sequins and the yellow stripes down the pant legs lit up. I laughed when he said his famous line "excuse me while I slip into something a little more spectacular." He really was larger than life.
I never saw him live but he was on tv a lot when I was a kid. I had the same impression you did. That it was like a cartoon! So much so that I just assumed he was a character for kids, like Kermit the Frog. He was the epitome of the phrase “larger than life”. So fun to watch!
I always thought he was a joke but after watching him play recently, as a pianist myself, he has proper conert technique, he knows his way round a piano as well as anyone, anyone.
Didn't look much bigger than a semi detached from outside and straight onto the street. The likes of JayZ and Ice Cube are approaching billionaire status, fucking idiot!
I can notice that he was a very likeable person, good talking, good telling tales and stories, cordial and lovely. I think it is nota mask, he was really a lovely guy all the time.
This guy had such a huge impact on show business and culture as we know it today. He came up with the now well used phrase: I cry all the way to the bank.
I didn't know the man until LITERALLY 20 minutes ago when I read on him on Wikipedia. Already, I love this man!!! I love his style. He betta work lol (Rupaul's voice speaking). The house, the lavish clothes and jewelry. I'm not even a materialistic person, but after seeing him, I now don't mind it for some odd reason. Where has this man been all my life. I love this dude!!!
Shut up you ignorant jealous Moran's who critizise the greatest most talented most handsome kind charming man in show business just watch the liberace T.v.special1968
He shares the same birthday as my little brother who does from leukemia back in 1983 (May 16, 1980 was my brothers bday). Liberace was certainly one who knew what they wanted and was wise enough to know just how to get it. Everyone straight and gay should be able to respect that. Although I am straight, I must say that Liberace publically paved the way for the lgbt community in a very tasteful and elegant way. And he did so without walking down the street naked or wearing assless chaps. The man was a genius.
@@itsjemmabond He was basically saying We don't have a lot Of musical artists with a lot of charisma & could put on a performance (And dress flawless with it.)
Liberace was a class act, fabulous showman and, from all knowledgeable accounts, a fine, caring man. His costumes, designed by Michael Travis, for the most part, were awesome! Thanks for posting.:)
I went to the Liberace museum in Las Vegas. His cars were absolutely amazing. I don’t know if it’s changed, but they would not let anybody photograph anything because they were worried about the flash deteriorating his clothing over time. He was definitely a class act, humanitarian and one hell of a piano player. 🎹
I remember watching him when I was little with my parents when he came on television. I remember thinking I'd never seen anyone like him. My parents always smiled and laughed alittle when he came on. It was all good.
Me too. Just a lot of shine and dreamy sparkly stuff is what comes to mind. And yes. Never before seen anything like it. It was cool and weird at the same time
Still in 2024 he's very fascinating to watch .He was the best at his craft. He is truly missed. One of the greatest entertainers of our generation. He played the piano with style and grace.RIP Mr. Showmanship. You will always be remembered. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙂❤️
Who am I to judge he made lots of people happy and he was happy with his life I suppose that's what matters most is to be happy and share a little happiness with others no matter what your life preference is you have one life live it to the fullest and leave this world with no regrets.
He was bold, flamboyant and ridiculous in his presentation. But was Michael Jackson any less so in the 80s? People enjoyed their shows. Who cares about the sexual orientation or identity?
Beautiful video. We now own the home, Las Vegas Villa, where the beginning of that video takes place, purchased it October, 2006. Liberace was a wonderful person, very generous, and a great humanitarian. I am so glad to see his legacy alive through You Tube!
Liberace was just the BEST! What a talented, kind soul. Had the pleasure of seeing him live several times. Mr Showmanship, is right! Rest in peace, sweet man. ♥
I was too young to appreciate the talent this man had back in the day (I'm 44 now) I do remember him on television a few times and I too played piano but nothing close to his talent. I admire him and I'm going to his museum in April I can't wait.
Such a great virtuoso there will never ever be another piano player that will ever come close to Liberace, a man that dedicated himself to his fans. you will not ever see any famous person or band ever again in your liftime that will put one half of the showmanship that Liberace put in 30 minutes of his two hour show.
Teh Goat how to getting very richest and keeping it?? I know he was gay to gotten aids grabbed him. Huey it was very saddened as knew he living in hell then he gotta nothing to loose everything. He isn’t here anymore. He gone .
He did what he wanted Spent it the way he wanted Spread love and joy everywhere So much talent he shared. He kept classical music alive. I do not see anyone now who does what he did. His lifestyle was his own business What he shared with the world was his. People like him make people who are struggling have hope. He was really brave. RIP Would be over 100 now Listen to his recordings Amazing.
Liberace was known to have sued for libel whenever a tabloid would attempt to "out" him, when he was very clearly a homosexual. And moreover, everyone seemed to know it except perhaps for the little old ladies that were his biggest fans. I can only speculate, but I really think that he when he sued for libel, he did so not to protect his own reputation, but rather to protect the sensibilities of those little old lady fans. He was a bit full of himself, but I think he really did love his fans.
+Aslan Ibrahimov He can't have been gay - he sued an English newspaper who suggested he was, & he won. You're not suggesting that the court was fooled by him, are you? (shock, horror...!)
And I wish his brother George had been there. lol. Liberace was an amazing showman contrary of anything else about him people will say. I think he had more outfits and jewels than Elvis. I do remember him as a young kid watching the Tonight Show with Carson. He had this piano decked out in crystal as he performed on it. Johnny Carson commented on the piano and Liberace said...."Well Johnny there are only two like them in the world.................and I own both of them." Lol. He did have a sense of humor about all of it.
In fact Kim, it was Liberace that suggested to Elvis to go with the sequined jump suits. Elvis wasn't sure about it at first but after all, what is older Elvis without his jump suits? They're great for the "Center of Attention" that Elvis exuded. I, for one, couldn't imagine Elvis going up on stage looking like one of the Eagles, in blue jeans and a T-shirt, could you?
He did 56 sold out shows in a radio city music hall. He was bigger than Elvis when he had his own TV show. At 65 he was still entertaining people packing the house. He was an approachable, generous person if you watch more about the man. All the while being the highest paid entertainer in the world. Back then maintaining a straight image was critical to his marketability. and the continuation of doing what he loved. I think anyone who wants to say he was this and that who had this and died of this. Is kind of sad. Because he was much more. And likely those saying that will never achieve the kinds of success that he did. or pass this life leaving 115 million dollars in the bank. No more likely keep working a 40 hour work week and criticiising people trying to point out the worse in people to make your self feel better.
His voice and kinda the way he speaks reminds me of my grandfather. As a young adult he came to Milwaukee from Bavaria in 1951. I miss him so much. Wonderful man, also very successful in life. I could listen to Liberace talk all day.
Liberace: “ I didn’t dress like this, just to go unnoticed.” 😁 Feel the material, it’s “Virgin Fox” ... Takes one to know one! Seriously, a kind person, and great entertainer!
saw him back in the 70s, he was so lovely w/ the audience, he walked across the stage & was showing everyone his rings & letting ppl touch them, he said go ahead YOU payed for them...very sweet/funny man, who was amazingly talented!
He was So Flamboyant and Over The Top...I Just Loved watching his shows with My Grandma who Simply Adored this Man..He Was Truly a gifted Musician...I still Love seeing him..
One of my great desires was to see Liberace perform in person. Unfortunately, just around the time I could have made that dream come true, he passed away. I'm so grateful for these RU-vid videos and the chance to see some of Lee's shows and showmanship.
I love his act. The classiest unclassy performance ever. Obviously a great musician but I love the way he would openly and unashamedly parade his extravagance for the whole world to see - but at the same time genuinly wanting to connect with his audience and give them a great night. Just a shame he couldn't be so open about his sexuality - but they were different times and wouldn't have been acceptable in his younger years and by the time it was acceptable; I guess he must've felt it was too late to unravel the lie. I was way too young to appreciate his performance back in the day, but thanks to RU-vid can now enjoy watching this hugely talented; warm and entertaining man !
So many people - from all walks of life - young, old, men, women - everyone - seems to just love Lee. He causes you to let loose a little - and feel good.
I had the pleasure of knowing Liberace personally for many years. He loved his fans and would spend countless hours signing autographs. When we came to Las Vegas for the first time, we were his guests at the LV Hilton. I'll never forget that 'magic' night or his thoughtfulness and kindness. I wish everyone could have met him. He was a warm, genuine person off stage and a spectacular performer on stage. I'll never forget him.
Absolutely love and adore this man. I am so grateful my mother took me to see him in Vegas! I love piano:) His brother played violin and had a violin shaped pool built in his backyard... Which was the house next door to my aunt and uncle. His brother had long since moved but my cousin and I delighted in jumping the fence to swim in it:)
He has and will always be my fashion muse. I live for Liberace, always have and always will. Born fierce and stayed fierce until the very end. RIP sweetheart.
9 years old when this came out and this is how I remember Liberace. Even then we knew he was an over the top personality but he definitely had the skill to back it up.
Mr. Sandman (Yes?) bring us a dream Give him a pair of eyes with a "come-hither" gleam Give him a lonely heart like Pagliacci And lots of wavy hair like Liberace!
He was a great pianist. Loved watching him play, it was MAGICAL ❤️. Plus, he was a kind and caring man from what his friends said❤️. Debbie Reynolds adored him❤️
My phone gone wrong. Can t just put comment on keyboard won t come up so only way is to reply to any particular person l would like Liberace critics to know Scott thorson is a liar still in prison now he says in his book he was well over=18yearswhen he met Lee now pretending he was16,,, behind the candelabra film 80%,untrue film behind the music tells very different nearly true story u can order this dvd phone01624677237
When I was very young Lee's TV show played after the mornings Children's television shows. I found more entertainment watching Liberace Vs the kids shows when I was 5 years old.
I would have loved being in Liberace's house's and I probably be so awestruck by the beauty. I'm not even sure I could leave one room and go to the next one. The grander of each room would take forever with me. Liberace was a wonderful showman and I'm sure many people miss him. The one flaw I have had with Liberace was his use of real fur from foxes, chinchilla, and mink !!! So many innocent animals and for what?? Still Love Him and His Music 🎵🎶
