@@PatrickFDolan perhaps. He's NOT Hillary Clinton though. She can't play music like he can. He's a pure entertainer and plays from his heart. That's why he's so well loved and she isn't.
Liberace was a very nice man. I was lucky enough to meet him in 1985 at his condo in Malibu. He had purchased furniture and a couple paintings from the store where I worked in West L.A. and I was there to deliver it. We chatted about art and his Shar-Pei dogs for about 45 minutes. He seemed almost shy and introverted, but just as nice as he is in this video.
He was so cultured... but charming and cute! Like when he talks about getting the Czechoslovakian crystal at Disney World he's telling us like it's a cheeky secret. Just adorable.
He had class Gaudy, yes, but he earned every penny with his talent. I am proud to be a straight who loves the great Liberace. He never hurt a single person in his life...that is true manliness.
@@ch1766 Actually he did hurt the people that he infected with AIDS. But, he was also a devout Catholic until the end and he had a priest in his death bed, so according to his religion, accepting Jesus before death (and throughout his life) would get him into heaven. Who are you to say otherwise? Also, if you are going to quote God, eating shellfish is also an abomination yet I don't see you writing nasty stuff on videos with people eating it.
We are all headed for hell unless we partake of the free gift of salvation by truly accepting Jesus Christ as both Savior & Lord. Accepting Christ as Savior is easy, but having Him as Lord is what this winsome and flamboyant pianist probably agonized over.
@Christine Mills I am not a judge of anything -- God is the judge. I'm simply reminding people of His holy standard. As for Lee's kindness and helpfulness, I don't doubt it, but all the good works in the world don't get a person into Heaven -- it's only saving faith in Christ that can accomplish that. And as for Jesus not condemning homosexuality (and other sexual sins), a man far wiser than I can dispel that common misconception for you in less than 5 minutes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N_l_muNl0ls.html
@Christine Mills Actually, if you read these passages they all relate to homosexuality. Genesis 1:27,28; Matthew 19:4-6; Romans 1:26, 27 and Jude 7. The Bible is Holy Spirit written, as it says so IN the bible, so these verses are GOD's opinion of homosexuality, not man's. Adultery is as much of a sin as homosexuality and both will help to send you to hell, but what REALLY sends anyone to hell is rejecting God and His Word. God bless you! Peace, sister!
Or,…a world class pianist and entertainer, with an interest in home renovation and cooking. He opened his own museum and it was a major draw card to Las Vegas, apparently.
I used to ride my bike or walk by this home several times a week when I lived in Palm Springs. Next door was a similar house that was built for the Singer Sewing mavine family. They are both much bigger than the seem. Now the home was redone again and the Liberace signatures were removed from the garage doors. He provided so much entertainment.
@Prince Valiant Bullshit Watch any late night show from before the 1980s and you will see that everyday people were more well spoken and polite Almost British sounding...not a British accent just British conversational styles Watch any episode of the Dick Cavett show for example Or watch an episode of a black and white game show featuring Salvador Dali, its called "Whats My Line featuring Salvador Dali"
Liberace was an entertainer's entertainer. He kicked some serious ass on piano, he had an excellent sense of comedy, and a very witty sense of humor. His annunciation when speaking was nearly flawless too!
I had to call at this house after Lee had died. Although a major drought was on, the head gardener was washing all the outdoor statues. When I asked him if he thought this was a waste of water, he replied that Liberace would never forgive him if he let the statues get dirty. Stunning and fantastic home. God Bless You Lee.
He was just a filthy rich SOB. Most people didn't know of his perversions. All the old ladies loved him!! Lol. I couldn't care less about his lifestyle just don't put him on a pedestal.
I love watching these little tours of his. It makes me feel like I’m really with him, strolling through the house and chatting. He was the sweetest, kindest man, a real treasure. I’m sure he’s with the real St. Anthony now.
@@melatomic Yes, there are several saints named Anthony. The most popular is the one Lee shows here, St. Anthony of Padua, patron saint of lost things. He was a priest in 13th century Italy.
I will admire deeply this true gentleman for my entire life,he left his mark in show business and brought to this world so much happiness and joy,his music will last forever, legends never die
Liberace was am amazing entertainer! His Spirit will live on through his kindness, compassion and empathy towards others. There are many stories of his kindness that we will never hear about. This talent of a man does not exist these days.
@@2000Betelgeuse he was very generous to people he new was giving lots off stuff away One time when he got sic he decided to spend his money on people before he die but after that he got better
Very true. Most people who are a true success in one area of their lives do not have the attention, time or interest to care about anything else. His knowledge and passion about this house, which is really not that impressive, is greater than the best real estate agent.
Liberace was a hard working tremendous work ethic midwestern boy that earned every penny he got. At least most people from Wisconsin viewed him that way and respected him regardless of his sexual orientation. Someone to admire at least in my book
Did that house get infested with rats after Liberace died? There was a Liberace museum somewhere that had to be closed down because it was infested with huge rats.
Liberace couldn’t help himself smiling all the time. I remember the story of Noddy & Big Ears about pulling faces when you are a kid and the wind comes and changes your face forever. That was what must have happened to him as a child. I’ve never seen anyone grinning and smiling so much in my life. I would hate to think if he did this if he attended a funeral or they would have called the men in the white coats to come and take him away in an ambulance and in a straight jacket for ruining the funeral.
I love how his eyes always twinkle when he always smiles, and its genuine from the heart. He was an amazing artist,,but more importantly had a heart of gold, his faith was so important and he loved to love everyone! O grew up seeing him always. Rip 🙏❤👏👏👏🎵🎶🎼🎹💍
You must have heard that if you pull faces when you are a kid, your face will stay that way for good? Liberace must have been giggling and laughing as a child and the wind changed and that’s why he always had a permanent grin on his face all the time whenever he spoke.
I love Liberace. It's his joy and delight in his life and achievements both musical in in his immaculate style . That desk is just superb. Thank you for posting this treasure.
He had AMAZING taste in homes. Simply stunning. I am a fan and wish I could have met him in person. What a delight he was.I just moved to Vegas, and if I could go back in time to his era, how amazing would that be😊
Savannah Michele - I couldn't agree more. Your comments on Liberace are just how I feel about him, his homes and era. I live in Australia and he did come over here many times - unfortunately I didn't get to see his shows. Still, we have so much we can access on computer. I think of him every day. Anne.
+Anne White Hi Anne, thanks for the sweet comment. He seemed like such a genuine soul and very giving. Not many people around like that today. I moved to Vegas a few months ago and a UK business man bought his Vegas home which was in ruins and foreclosure, and rehabbed the whole house. I have watched you tube videos on the restoration, and the new owner, I believe on you tube his name is Lord Ravenhill if I spelled it correctly?. He is a delight to watch as well. So glad someone stepped up and restored it back to its former glory. I will have to drive by it and take a look, its fairly close to me near the Vegas strip, about 10 mins from me. Its on my to do list for sure. 😊😊😊
Oh, great to know that the house is once more, back to the way Liberace had it. I will look into Lord Ravenhill's youtube clips. Lucky you living nearby. My daughter visited Vegas and saw the house, but it was covered in scaffolding etc. - she did take a photo for me. I saw the man beneath the showman - loved his dogs and so many of his friends said he was beyond kind. The clip of him on Oprah (just before he died) was so beautiful - the way he played a medley of Christmas tunes. Take care - very nice to have this contact with you. Anne.
+Anne White Hi Anne, Just wanted to give you an update. Well, in April, I will have lived in Vegas one year. Not sure what I was expecting, being from the Midwest, Chicago born and raised. Like all things that change, from what I see living here now, I think Liberace would be disappointed in the way this town is now. Alot of low lifes and trashy people here unfortunately. Not like it was in the 70's I would imagine. I was lucky enough to go to a charity event at the Liberace Mansion some months back, and let me tell u, it was spectacular. The best thing I have done since moving here Anne. The mansion ,, oh my god , in one word Breathtaking!!!. The new owner restored it back to when Liberace lived there, minus the pool, which is a ballroom now, but I had the most amazing night of my life. Met the owner, what a down to earth, nice guy. I was thrilled to be walking through the front door he had many times walked through, and the mansion, oh wow. Mirrors, marble, chandeliers, candelabra, u name it, antiques, the new owner has it perfected to when Liberace lived there. I didn't want to leave it was so stunning. I am hoping if they have another charity event to definitely go, and I know one day I have heard it will be turned into a museum for all to see. What a great tribute to a legend. I hope u are well Anne, Best Regards, Savannah 🎶🎼🎶🎼🎶🎼😊😊😊
I love all of his homes, and they are like museums and he explains everything so well...I could listen to him talk all day.... My mother owned a night club on Lucky Street in Atlanta Ga. in the 60’s...She had hired a piano entertainer to work there...he was a protege of Lee’s...He was quite talented. The young man was involved in a auto accident, and sadly he was killed... Lee paid for his funeral and came to Atlanta for the services. I was a little girl at the time and I thought he was magical and I wanted him to take me home with him...🙏🥰🙏
The house is breathtaking. What vision he had....to see beyond the decay and to transform this place into a beautiful and tasteful home......full of art and appreciation for art.
If L was alive today, he would've already fabulously [and successfully] guest-starred on Will & Grace multiple times, and would've been a hoot sharing lines w/ Jack and Karen.
I was able to go inside the house, long after his passing, and all his furnishings had been removed. Other furniture was put in its place by a new owner. Liberace's protege pianist Jere Ring was there, and talked about the old days. One of the bathrooms was behind a removable bookcase. The home has been remodeled again.
I have met Mr. Ring and he is a genius as well! Great entertainer and beautiful pianist!! I would have loved to meet Liberace but since that isn’t a possibility I listen to his theme song and watch these wonderful videos!!
What a sweet man he was loved his smile, and he loved his fans so much. His staff always talked about how well he treated them. He always had time to talk to fans please tell me of a celeb that is like that lovely man now
I remember when I was a kid Liberace was the co-host on "The Mike Douglas Show" for a week, and each day he showed a film of one of his homes. I bet that's where this is from.
My word he had an amazing collection! I had no idea!! After watching some of these, I’m starting to think this other part of him is as fantastic as his playing!!
When I was a child in the seventies my grandmother used to rant and rave about Liberace, because she had seen him perform live in Las Vegas, but it wasn't until I got older and became a musician that I realized how talented he was. He could do magical things with a piano. A one of a kind no doubt.
I admire his knowledge of History and Antiques. His respect for his fans and appreciation of their devotion to his music is felt through the cards, letters and art mounted and framed through out his houses. One of a kind.
What a wonderful human being he was, not like todays so called stars he really invites you in to his home and gives you a history lesson while doing so, a little before my time but I can appreciate selflessness when I see it
I thought Liberace looked alot younger in this video, figured it was from the 1970's, thought it was from the 1980's at first because the video has pretty good quality for being a old documentary
He was a good guy. I don't what other's have said. I don't waste my energy on ignorance anyway. I wish I could have met him. Just to say thank you. Thanks for sharing this.
I bet even the biggest self proclaimed celebrity animal lover doesn't even have a full size bed for their dogs this man was a true saint and national treasure
For the seventies that is the nicest shirt have ever seen . Liberace really had beautiful homes really liked how he decorated them with the finest of rare pieces and looked amazing , would have had great fun there . Hollywood Hills and Palm Springs homes were fabulous but my number one choice was the Las Vegas one then his HH and PS homes followed
I delivered newspapers and Variety to 2 of his SFV residences. Liberace would buy neighboring homes and have them joined together. His mom, brother George and he were the nicest, appreciative and most generous people. No one was happier than me when I was walking through a casino one day and they booked him performing in the lounge. Once again and soon after his career took off & shot to the sold out headliner stars.
It’s too bad he lived in an era where everyone was in hiding. He would be so content to live his true life openly now in these times. A truly talented pianist. Never faked the tricky pieces like some did. But played every note accurately. And seemed like a truly kind person. May he rest in peace.
Palm Springs is in the desert. I am writing this on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 5: 48 pm. It is 95 degrees in Palm Springs. It's nice there at night, like around midnight. It isn't "balmy" as that suggest humidity. It's baking hot. Oven hot. Waves of hot. The type of heat no one gets used to. The folks would fly or drive out there and had A/C and isolation. The mountains are nice to look at, but when one considers they are there because a section of the San Andreas fault that hasn't ruptured since 1850ish runs directly under your feet the feeling becomes unpleasant.
Liberace knew his antiques, he was talented musician and was a kind person. All the women went crazy over him when he played Las Vegas. He was very kind to his mom and give her many things, she adored him.
