😲. I was there in 2003. I was in the Marines rapid response unit. Was there a month and a half when lurd was fighting Charles Taylor government Wow it looks 1000 times better. I was in Iraq 6 months than got deployed there. I wish we could engaged for peace I know the Liberian ppl would have wanted it. But bush refused that war really messed up the country but the recovery looks great. Way to go Liberia

Yes. We are gradually recovering. War is now our past and I'm sure no Liberian wants war again because the benefits is all backwardness

When I was a Peace Corps teacher in Liberia in the 1970s, the main downtown post office was on the ground floor of the Ministry of Education building. (There may have been one also in Carey Street, as you point out in your "after dark" video ). I also vaguely recall that there was a bank there in the Education building.

The Ministry Of Education building in the 70s isn't in use by government again since the last regime. MOE is now in Congo Town at the newly built ministerial complex. Many thanks for your service sir. Highly appreciated!

If I am an economy minister, I would create a new 0.1% tax of every transaction or asking the citizens to give 0.1% of the income after pointing out the projects and cost to develop a mass transport system. To do all that I would create a new road and development authority to build a tram, connecting the entire city with every neighborhood and towns with proper online documentation as to how much money is collected and used with all details. Once tram is build then the income from that tram is re-invested back into expanding and developing further. And the most important thing I would do it work with Russian and Chinese ministry of education to set up a universities in collaboration that will attract foreign students in the fields of medicine, engineering, sciences and architecture training students while keeping the prices low so it helps to develop the education sector. Its a pretty decent city, I'd say better than many Indian cities(saying as an Indian). All it needs it cheap mass transportation to reduce the small bikes and Auto three wheeler some green spaces. otherwise its pretty nice city.

I am a Ghanaian who use to teach Calculus at BWI in KAKATA in the early 80s when DOE had the coup, I was also at the beach and saw the FIRING SQUAD that shot all the Former Cabinet ministers. I lived behind the E J ROYE building near the Telecom building across the street during school vacation, I believe this is ASHMUN STREET. @1:43 the building with the white SUV in front used to be the COMMERCE DEPT. I also use to collect my paycheck at the Ministry of EDUCATION on BROAD STREET. I later moved into an apartment near a catholic school up the hill on Ashmun street, not sure if it still exists...

Thanks for the nice Video. (Reminds me some of the U.S.A. State of Louisiana, some of it's south eastern parts of that State.)(The Traffic however looks much more dangerous, and chaotic in Monrovia. The people might consider requesting line markings to prevent accidents, and enable smoother flow of Vehicles and Pedestrians. Also strictly enforced low speed limits of 20 miles per hour.)( Planting more Flowers and Trees and Water Fountains.)( All these simple improvements should encourage Tourism!)

Seems like Monrovia looks worse than ever before. They need to get those vendors off the streets and have a special place where they can sell their goods. It looks dirty and the place needs cleaning and could use some paint jobs. It's depressing. 😢😢😢 Weah is a collosal failure.

Oh WOOOW I just saw the Ministry of Education building where I use to collect my paycheck in UNITED STATES DOLLARS. Did we just pass by GURLEY STREET, THE RED LIGHT DISTRICT at the time?, Was that the former RIVOLI CINEMA building with the TECHNO sign on the right side opposite the IMMIGRATION OFFICE on the left? I left Liberia in August 1985 before the first coup by Quiwonkpa............
