I love that you did a library book haul! All I ever see is people constantly buying new books and it's nice seeing someone talk about sustainability in the book community and how overconsumption is a real problem, even if some people deny it.
I usually do little library hauls over on my tiktok, it's been so long since I filmed one for the channel. But I love them, I love library vlogs and the selection of books you can get because you're taking risks as no money is getting wasted on them. But yeah I think about sustainability a lot now that I'm older as I'm able to recognise that my own past with over consumption stemmed from negative feelings of wanting something to momentarily take my mind off of things.
Completely agree with your message re overconsumption and supporting your local library to get the books you want to read (if you can). Avoiding buying through Amazon is something I really wish people made a hard effort towards too. I had a couple of these books on my WTR list so I am looking forward to your reviews and will also go sub to your TikTok channel! :)
Agree about the over-consumption. I like to support the authors, but ebooks and libraries work great for that! Plus, if you move house enough times, you really don't want a bunch of heavy books around :)
Concur with silenthillgirl. I live check to check and a voracious reader. Libraries in Miami stopped selling library books, but the Main Library has a massive collection. I haven't bought a new book in years, until the new Stephen King came out. I will most definitely shell out money for those (purchased at an actual bookstore, thank you). Most times I buy used from thrift stores and such and I can definitely tell when someone does a book unhaul because you can find the newer books in perfect condition sometimes. More for me.
Yes!! I don't think people realise just how often books in new condition are donated to thrift/charity shops. There's one particular shop that I usually go to when out on the hunt for books, just because they will always have books in such good condition for super low prices.

I buy a LOT of books. But what really strikes me about booktube (don't have the self-restraint to have tiktok on my phone) is people who buy most of the books they read, and then get rid of everything that they didn't absolutely love immediately afterwards. Like..... just go to the library then? what the hell are you doing 😂
The haunted house & folk horror books sound good. The way you describe your taste in thrillers, you seem to prefer the ones that focus on character driven plots - I agree; they're a lot more enjoyable to read. The last book on the list sounds like it has cyberpunk themes ( memory implants of other people's personalities, etc..)
