the darker more serious tone of Dalton was a fresh take after the light humored run of Roger Moore. i think we all would have liked to see one or two more turs from him.
@Trey Stephens GoldenEye aka Property of a Lady was meant to be his third. Had it been successful, he would have done Reunion with Death afterwards, which would of played to his strengths.
@Trey Stephens Dalton’s third was already in pre-production and the script was ready in 1990, and Scotland, Tokyo, and Hong Kong were the locations, but thanks to a convicted fraudster named Giancarlo Paretti trying to sell the broadcasting rights to the Bond series at a cut rate price, the lawsuit between MGM and Danjaq happened, and it got scrapped.
I love how Sanchez barely even blinks as Krest's ship barrels right through a chunk of the dock. He's so thoroughly convinced that Krest is running a total shitshow that he just takes it in stride. Also the way that Krest realizes how thoroughly boned he is attempting to recount Bond's superhuman exploits to his boss.
I've thought about this for years and ended uo realising I can't pick one favourite of the two. My list of least favourite to favourite has a couple of shared places: 23. Spectre 22. No Time to Die/A View to a Kill 21. Die Another Day 20. The World is Not Enough 19. Diamonds Are Forever 18. Quantum of Solace 17. Moonraker 16. Skyfall 15. Octopussy 14. The Man With the Golden Gun 13. Live and Let Die 12. Thunderball 11. For Your Eyes Only 10. You Only Live Twice 09. Tomorrow Never Dies 08. The Spy Who Loved Me 07. Casino Royale 06. Goldfinger 05. Dr No 04. From Russia With Love 03. On Her Majesty's Secret Service 02. The Living Daylights/Licence To Kill 01. Goldeneye
It wasn't a bad movie. Just not the right movie for the time it was being released in. Had it been released 20 years later it would have been much better received.
I just love the gritty tone and vibe in every scene of LTK. My favorite Bond film. Also there can be no debate that Pam Bouvier is one of the best and certainly the most beautiful of the Bond women.
@@TMX1138 True, but the Bond series was considered pretty family friendly at the time. Licence to Kill is signigicantly more bloody than the Bond movies before it.
Love this Bond film. Definitely more faithful to Ian Flemings material. Dalton is impressive once again as Bond and Robert Davi is brilliant as the main Villain, Sanchez.
I’ll keep saying it till I’m blue in the face, but Timothy Dalton deserved at least two more Bond outings in 1991 and 1993 before Pierce Brosnan took over.
Do you think Dalton could’ve been Bond in GE, TND and TWINE and played an older ageing bond before stepping down in 1999? Personally I still think he was in great shape from the mid to late 90’s so I wish he would’ve carried on, to see him act alongside judi dench would’ve been a treat.
@@jonathanward7320 To be honest, if Dalton did GoldenEye, Anthony Hopkins would have been Trevelyan and we would have got the True Lies rip off first draft. But I think TND and TWINE are more suited to Brosnan
@@Steve-gc5nt I know, but you can blame Giancarlo Paretti and his shady deal to sell the broadcasting rights to the Bond series at a cut rate price, which started the legal dispute. If it weren’t for that scumbag, Dalton would have had his third outing.
Timothy Dalton was and still is my favorite Bond. My step dad would rent movies all the time and one of his favorites was James Bond with Timothy skiing on the water from the plane with bare feet. He thought it was very impressive!
As a kid I liked Rodger Moore best. Then later I worked in Military Intelligence and realized that Timothy Dalton played Bond closest to who Bond would be.
I always find it very hilarious & funny when Krest shows up on the bridge and says "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?" while the Wavekrest Captain replies "Harbor pilot went crazy." from 1:18-1:22.
I heard that Robert Davi actually happened to mee at real life cartel boss while in vacation. He apparently was a big fan of Davi's potrayal of Sanchez.

@@killchaser9219 where's Goldeneye on number 10 is spectre 9 the living daylights number 8 spy who loved me 7 world is not enough 6 license to kill number 11 is tomorrow never dies instead I chose it in 2015 after spectre came out
For those that don't know Dalton wanted to do more, but the franchise was caught up in some legal affairs, and so the script and production waited, and waited, till eventually when it was all clear Dalton had felt like he'd waited too long. I believe it was like 6-7 years before they were ready to make another Bond film, ideally tho they should've went with Brosnan for these films, it would been great to see him grow up into bond like how Craig essentially did
He was my best bond, when I was 21 I watched this in cinema and remembered wow this is way better than the previous ones eg roger Moore and kind of true to its original book source. Shame the stupid idiot critics gave mixed reviews bet they are now regretting it
Of all the James Bond villains Sanchez is one that I would never double cross I mean let’s just think about it this guy is beyond ruthless he cuts the heart out of his victims and then put them in a vacuum chamber and their heads explode but I love it how Bond set this whole thing emotion
Great Bond movie. Dalton was so good and paved the way for Craig. Also, gotta love Q getting in on the action. RIP Desmond Llewelyn. Thank you for your service.
"You think I'm stupid huh? You think I'm going to let someone rip me off then use my own money to find someone to kill me? You want it so bad then TAKE IT!" Top level performance by Robert Davi!
Played by ex-US Air Force Anthony Zerbe: one of those actors who viewers 'point out' in many features, yet they're unable to name him - The Dead Zone (opposite fellow 007 villain, Christopher Walken), Rooster Cogburn (John Wayne is lead actor), True Crime (Clint Eastwood acted and directed) Papillion (Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman are co stars) ironically Rami Malek was in a remake of the latter movie - forming a connection with Licence To Kill and No Time To Die with two major characters in their respective movies.
The thing is - had Bond movies stuck to the novels in terms of Bond's attitude and what he really was - a womanizing assassin - then they would have been all dark movies and not PG ratings as in the UK. This should have been released in many ways after OHMSS and taking revenge for the killing of his wife. What we got was the pathetic Diamonds Are Forever. Big salary check for Sean Connery in what was his worst film as Bond.
@@garyjones2561why don’t you read a short story called “the hildebrand rarity” where he’s very Much the antagonist and probably one of the most VILE, LOATHSOME and scummiest person EVER! In fact all his character traits in that short story were given to Sanchez
The darkest movie also has the most q scene in 😆 which is odd cause he Rouge most of the movie which means that q really did care for bond so much , he was willing to risk his job
Timothy, the best and most ruthless Bond for me..only Steele came close. The classic Bond portrayal. Moore was too campy. Craig simply does not looks like Mr Bond.
