Have you checked all this in the instructions for teaching 'the direct and lateral flexions' as spelled out by Fillis pp 96-108 and 44-65, which is free public domain online and checked in the French instructions from 1912, which is also free public domain online? What set of instructions tells us to use the hand so high ? What about straight line elbow to bit ? Isn't that the only way for rein actions to properly inform the bit as it sits in the lower jaw ?
