Thank you for such an informative interview despite the disclosure of the product, which is completey understandable. Look forward to see Karen back on.

The people accusing the InventRight folks of running a scam need to do some reading. Stephen and Andrew are accomplished developers of intellectual property and their considerable experience combined with the willingness to be accessible and forthright on a public forum is commendable. I've learned a great deal watching their videos and the recorded conversations with the many industry professionals they present here on the channel. I'll likely become an InventRight student one of these days when I'm not so over-employed. =-)

I have a question. Did she actually license the product within the 12 month PPA period before it expired without turning it into a non-provisional patent?

Rey you mention on your book a simple idea that a company was waiting for your student to get approve or not and you encourage her to file another patent that will include protecting the 1st ppa submitted is this another way of protecting or extending IP?

Stephen, I ordered your book about how to license your idea without a patent thru Amazon. Paid for 2 day shipping. Waited 2 weeks and no book. Amazon lost it and won't refill the order. Forced me to ask for refund. I am Design Patent Pending now on my invention, but really wanted to read your book. Sorry for the lost sale.

How is inventright different from other invent help companies? Several years ago I helped back an invention and invested over $10,000 with a company called Invent tech. All we ever got from them was a Cheaply done CAD drawing and letters saying they were working very hard at trade shows all over the country promoting our invention. We had a marketable quality prototype. About one year later our invention was on store shelves and selling like crazy. I've built many different things that friends & family say "Hey you should patent that" How can I be sure a company is genuine and not out to make a quick buck from another sucker?

Hi, I am from India. I have TV channel idea which are doesn't exist in India or all over world so how can I save my idea by copyright or any other methods?
@tommielee8
@tommielee8 3 года назад
A tv channel idea....this can be the format, or how the channel operates. This can be content...or "what" the channel shows and how they show it. I would assume you are trying to improve on the.. "Content". The "type" of show people are watching. If this were the case then some copywrite protection would be in order. Depending on the idea, a design patent, which is similar to copywrite, would make sense. Many patent attorneys will offer some good advice.

I have a question, one company I licensed a product to would only pay royalties for a period of 5 years, after which point they owned all IP to the product. Is this typical for the toy industry? Or should I expect a lifetime royalty?
@paperbeen
@paperbeen 5 лет назад
Mike Did you license or gave away? If you agreed for royalties??? for 5 years why do you expect Lifetime of royalties? it defies logic. I think you may face lifetime of regrets.

@FarekWad

I would like to post some constructive criticism. It seems like click bait when the inventors are not allowed to talk about the product they licensed. Even though, the advice/story might be the same, there is no ancor point for the general viewer. IMO the videos with inventors that have had deals go through and can freely talk about their products (and show them off/ sell the idea to us) are a better fit for the RU-vid format. Videos like this one are useful, but the title and intro section should clarify from the beginning, "we can't publicly show it off yet" Just an idea. Big fan of the InventRight program!

Thank you very much for your insights. I appreciate them.Many inventors are very reluctant to share this type of information.I felt this information was important.Everyone seems to be so focused on the end results. Like in every business there’s going to be many failures. We learned more from the struggles that we do the successes.

Julio you have no clue what you are talking about. My last company it took 2 years to put it together before we started. Product licensing with new technology takes much longer to develop and implement. The amount of work is unbelievable. Don't be so quick to judge because it tell us about you more as somebody who never developed nothing himself and have very limited and simplified view of the world around.

Jacek T I had a very bad experience with a company that claim to help you with your product. The company told me to follow their step, bought their books pay a monthly feed and at the end it turned out to be nothing. So finally I got on the Internet did research and did everything on my own. And I had more success doing it myself then using companies that take your money.

Never sent your idea through a website without the investor in writing to invite you. Foe e.g. After submitting my big idea to Marc Portney through his website there was no response from him anymore.
