Got their ghee a few weeks ago and the smell wasn’t as near as nice as local farm shop ghee I buy. Also American bacon last year that tasted awful. Its the last time I’ll buy from their themed weeks after the ghee
@@EdsCanineAcademy in fairness if you have ever had bacon in the States it is awful! For me I think it could just be an inexpensive way of finding out some things from other cuisines that you might not have seen elsewhere, but would look for better quality if you liked them?
@@GreenoEats I'm a big fan of Japanese food so just seeing a selection is great, have you tried Asahi? It's Japan's best selling beer, goes down well a little too much 😂.
Hi Greeno, I love the review and would love to see more of this type because I do find them interesting. Personally, I am too wary of either Aldi or Lidl "themed" ideas; especially on food. The word "style" says it all and we know straight away the authenticity is next to nothing. "Germanic Japanese styled food from England"; I think that says a lot! 😝 The one plate of items I would try would be the desserts. You seemed to not favour the Mochi in this review, but I love Mochi and I also love all things sharp and citrus, so that lemon dessert would be interesting to me too.
Oh yes, they do use the word "style" on a lot of their themed weeks... That way they can continue to bang out Japanese, Greek, Italian items from a factory near Leipzig or wherever!!
Thank you that was interesting, I went to Lidl this morning and saw some of the Japanese things incl the cheese. Didn't;t buy anything though. Yes, would def enjoy this again. Would love you to do some of the eastern eurpean foods Lidl regularly have as a theme. Never been brave enough to try them, esp the frozen dumplings.
The Eastern European range would be a doddle, Mrs Greeno is Hungarian 😀(although don’t let her hear you call it Eastern Europe, it’s Central Europe!!). Glad you enjoyed it, I will keep an eye out for other interesting themes they have.
@@GreenoEats I have absolutely no clue but I do know that an update comes out every Thursday on the weekly leaflet so I’m excited to see if it’s shown tomorrow! 🤞🏼
@@AbbieStansfield I checked out the website, apparently it’s still just Easter stuff this week. But starting in April 4th is Iberian weeks, lots of yummy Spanish and Portuguese food. That should be a good one!
Got to mix it up a little Smithy 😀 Glad you enjoyed it pal. Let me know if you do manage to grab any of these, would love to know what you think of them!
Hello Greeno hope you are well Isn't yuzu illegal in some countries even though it's a lemon fruit🤔 Thanks for sharing and keep up the awesome work 👍🤗🍀
How can a fruit be banned? On what possible grounds? Although with Brexit it wouldn’t surprise me if they were banned here as a foreign import ha ha! I appreciate the positive words, most grateful.
I have never seen japanese weeks at Lidl in Germany, but I know those crisps in yakisoba and wasabi flavour, I like them a lot! I tried mochi and it was not my favourite, too starchy...😅
Yeah, they had the crisps in wasabi flavour, but as I already had the wasabi cheese I thought it would be interesting to try the pickled plum variety, and they surprisingly weren’t awful ha ha. The mochi just aren’t for me really, the consistency of the rice dough is just unappealing.
@@GreenoEats yes, I felt the same tasting mochi the first time was really ueghhh, the rice starchy taste is weird. If I find the yakisoba crisps, I will buy them for you, always wanted to send you and the Greenos a little german sweets pack with some typical things to try, only If you want, of course 😉
@@GreenoEats that will be fun, is there any Greeno eats Email adress? I will contact you if there is everything packed, will take a little time, always thought to send you the mon cherie 😉😉
Used to be able to get The pickled plum chrisps from Morrisons near me yhey also had wasabi and teriyaki flavour definitely worth a try if you see the other flavours
Those sausages aren't crazy Japanese to be honest; they often just cut them up to add to stir fried vegetables for a protein kick; or there's a popular dish called "Spaghetti Napolitan"; which is a Japanese take on a western food; where they stir fry spaghetti with ketchup, onions, green peppers, and sliced sausage/hot dog :) Pickled plum is a strong but popular flavour in Japan, especially in Spring! They eat pickled plums on top of rice; and they're called "umeboshi"!
@@GreenoEatsIt's definitely different to the UK! People are friendly here, but in a quieter manner to Brits; and they're super respectful of other people and of their surroundings! I feel spoiled here with how polite and helpful people are! It's definitely busy, but moreso in a sense that there is always stuff to keep me busy! Things rarely feel hectic (until you're trying to get on the train at rush hour!)
@@serena-skye1511 that's really interesting, thanks for filling me in. The bit about people being polite and respectful makes me yearn for the UK of old for sure!
Hello Prof Award yourself an A+ for the Japanese theme and a C- for catering (good play on words🤣) to diabetics with dodgy tickers. - cherry drink possibly laced with sugar or chemical sweetner - yakitori chicken. I never look at the packet in case I can't eat this - sausages are processed, too much fat and salt and heaven knows what kind of meat cuts😳 - crisps are processed, fatty and salty🥲🥲 - sweet stuff probably sugar heavy. Prof the examination board has put your name down for a retake. Please wear your school shorts and cap. In jest Mike
@@GreenoEats yea the texture and I'm not a huge fan of the taste either its only the ice cream that makes it palatable although I've never had the black sesame ice cream, I've had a mango and a dragon fruit
Sorry greeno, absolutely love your reviews but the mouth noise and heavy breathing gets my skin, i am truly sorry to dis but you only need 1 bite to taste and review , and speaking with you mouth full is not something I want to promote as a good thing to my kids sorry for the unsubscribe, maybe think of taking one bite and fast forward the chew, it works with other food reviewers and the subs explains it all, again no hate at all hope I can subscribe again in the future
@@GreenoEatsI am not butting in and I appreciate the way you took the criticism but there are FAR worse food reviewers whom myself, friends and family follow because they are decent people and interesting. Carry on!
