Parkside PIFDS 120 A1: www.lidl.de/p/parkside-schwei... Lidl PARKSIDE ® PIFDS 120 A1 Mag Flux welding machine Unboxing and Test welding without gas for 99€
Loads of pals bought these and whinged they were rubbish - so I got one to see. Nope - it's them, not the machine. Running 1mm flux-core, these weld like a little demon - superb IMO. I think the issue is people who can't weld at all buy one & expect to be a champ welder off the bat - I'm a lifelong welder, it runs smooth & strong for me. Hugely impressed in fact. Others bought the Lidl multi-process version that does mma, mig & gasless - and also whinged that the gasless mode was crap - It isn't, it's excellent in fact - I firmly believe loads are forgetting/not knowing to change the polarity before using flux core & then get horrible results, blaming the machine. Once you run flux-core properly, it's a cracking way to join metal - key is to run it properly. The "Thing" people say about excess spatter - that's you, not the process too - set it up right, spatter is miniscule/non existent. Beware that flux core is damn bright compared to gas shielded - use a good mask. For gas shielded I often weld without a mask (loads in fact) - no chance with flux core, a mask is essential - the arc is blazingly bright.
@@jamesward5721 I'll pick one up next time they are in Lidl. It's always nice to be able to glue some steel. I have an old 160 amp 400Volt Italian MIG welder in the basement, but the bottle is empty and the wire is one lump of rust. The electrodes for my ESAB 140 are destroyed from moisture. This little feller can reside in a closet at room remperature.
@@erik_dk842 Exactly - I now use it when I can't be bothered wheeling a big hefty MIG to a piece of work - I just pick up the nice light flux-core, plug it in, weld, chuck it back on the bench. Very handy.
This tiny welder is just amazing. I got it a few days ago and instantly started challenging it. I love it. With this tool you think twice to use screws or just weld it right away. IMHO welding had never been simpler than that. The intelligent current- and wire speed algorithms takes over all the struggling of adjusting them yourself. If the power is not enough, then just turn it a little up. It also seems to have shortcircut wire burn off feature. So that if the wire is melted together with the workpiece, the current is turned up to melt the wire away, and push new wire out rapidly until new arc is ignited. I saw this only on my Fronius Transsteel 2200 before. So very nice machine! Safety: Beware to always wear FFP3 mask and have a fire-extinguisher / water sprayer in reach.
I don't even know what an ALGORITHM is??? Can you weld with it? I have been welding since 1979 when I was 15, so not easily impressed! (Coded for five years in 1995) but don't even work in the industry anymore, but am restoring a Classic MGBGT car and VW T4 Campervan!
@@patintermatroskin3650 Well, possibly Russian electric Welders frequently catch fire. But here it is meant to be prepared to extinguish secondary fires, caused e.g. sparks, or dripping iron, or dropped hot parts...
@@cromyjr9183 No I don't know what an Algorithm is ? Please tell me cos I have managed all my life without knowing what one is, and perfectly managed all types of welding! Where did I say i was proud of it????
today is 28th April 2024. I have just bought one of these from Lidl in Wales UK for £79.99, and having watched this video, I am absolutely amazed that it coped with 12mm steel. I was going to be content with maybe 4-6 mm, but this video has made me even more please I bough one (I got there early and they only had three units to sell -so very very happy) ps £79.99= €92.42
Thanks for the demonstration. Would be nice to have a clamp-on ammeter indicating how many amps are drawn from the socket outlet at each setting in welding each thickness of steel. This because many people have limited circuit breaker amp ratting. I for one have 220V , 15A in my garage.
It did the 12mm good, flux core very bright and loads smoke, l still prefer stick, but l was a coded welder years ago, but for odd jobs these are fine.
Update, I bought this welder for 79€ something.... I already welded lawnmower deck with it by patching up cracks and holes slowly. This welder is by far the easiest welder I have ever used. It feels also quality tool for such money.
So, out of the box , is this welder set up with +ive earth [recommended for flux core]? And, if not, can the polarity be easily changed? I couldn't see from the video how the terminals were attached inside.
When starting to weld how far out do you have the wire, do you strike on the copper tip then before the wire feeds out, or do you strike the wire that is out of the tip. If so how far out has the wire to be to strike and start welding. It's difficult to see on your video.
Hallo Herr Welding .
Great video, you did a great weld using this (didn’t expect a clean finish, other videos show splatter and messy result) do you still prefer the previous pmsg model ? Would be nice to see strength test or projects made by this pifds model. Keep up the good work
Iv just welded a wing patch work on lowist wire speed it has the thing is you cant hold the torch more than 2sec other wise you blow holes metal 1mm thick i weld all the time, bad idea on the brass tip showing as you will arc the metal if your not a good welder and the wire will arc to the tip bad idea i made a cover over mine from a old mig welder works alot better saves alot of problems only bought it saves me carrying a great co2 bottle and welder up the garden to do some small jobs
Can I actually run this machine from the washing machine outlet ? It runs from the 16 Amp breaker , and considering that this machine pulls at maximum power just around 17 Amps , it should be fine for welding small pieces , right ? Help would be really appreciated on this one , cheers Thank you
I maxed this machine out welding on a tractor implement, using 1mm wire, and the highest setting (above 3mm). It did not throw my 13Amp breaker. According to the manual the breaker/socket must NOT be above 16 Amp. Enjoy.
@@evanleebodies Cheers buddy ! Thanks for the help .. I bought the machine a while ago , but can only use it at my parents house , I live in an apartment so I can't use it without being irresponsible and it's also ilegal in my country . Still thanks for the help .. And yes it works just fine in both 10A and 16A breakers
This machine is specifially made to be as tiny and as easy handable as possible, and for this to be used only with flux cored no gas metal arc welding.
Hi to you all. I have one question; how long can you weld whith this machine till its power shuts down for cooling? Because i have one welder ( also cheap) and you work with him for 10 min and then gets disconected for 15 min for cooling, because its overheat him self😒😒...thx for the answer.
@@BunkrMan is it durable when welding for anything longer than 10 seconds? I want to buy this welder but this non-metal tip is something that puts me off. Won't it just melt after some longer welding?
For the price, this is an amazing welder. Had mine for a few weeks now and it welds good straight out the box. However.......if you decide to get one the first thing you should do is remove the existing earth clamp and replace it with a good quality clamp. The supplied clamp is made of poor quality mild steel, I replaced mine with a decent quality clamp with a rating of 200A.
