They were the best! I sure hope someone from that day sees this video so we can connect again. It was so nice just randomly talking with the people there. Others had their special shell moments too and it was nice celebrating with them too! Thank you for watching :-)

It was a very special time! Thank you so much for watching. Love putting this all together and reliving it ❤️ What is the top shell in Australia in your area to find like the Junonia is over to us if you don't mind me asking?

@@FloridaBeachWalks Hmmm, well, I don't know about one that's really as famous as your Junonias, but if you're taking about dollar value being similar, then my mind naturally wanders to the Zoila shells. Zoilas are a genus of cowrie; very beautiful and desirable from Western Australia. Some are more common than others, but some are rarer and command high prices. That's not in my area, though! For my area in Queensland, I can't really think of anything that equals a Junonia in both value and rarity. Perhaps the Queensland Cowrie (Austrasiatica hirasei) but that is rare to see and never washes ashore. For a likely find for me; a Chambered Nautilus shell. It's not quite as grand as the Junonia, but that's about the only other thing I can think of right now.

Haha, I got the shelling bug after visiting Honeymoon Island as well. I've always enjoyed the beach and looking for shells when there, but Honeymoon was SO fantastic that it spurred me to shell more intentionally.

I live very close to this area on the west coast and I didn't even hear about this happening. Where did you hear about this back in 2020?

Just moved away from palm beach for school and I miss shelling do much. How do you find out where dredging is taking place and being dumped?
@FloridaBeachWalks
@FloridaBeachWalks 3 месяца назад
Not all dredging projects have public piles 😭, so you just have to keep on the lookout. You can Google Florida dredging and some websites have lists of current and future project that you can see where. Drive to the area and ask the guards what’s going on, any public piles etc. The only info is what they will tell you, you know. In Palm Beach there are lots of great shelling beaches! But east coast shelling is tricky sometimes, some days there is nothing other days so much…just always have to be on the look out and winter shelling is one of the best (Nov-Feb). Take care, wishing you the best with school and thx for watching!
