Can't blame him, the only souls born game to prioritize parra over dodge was sekiro I defeated the first miniboss without blocking (almost died, was also indignated with the dodge), just started to Block after some time playing
@@IIKafka I get using past knowledge for current games to get an edge, but we really shouldn't play every soulslike (or any game) like it's the same exact game. Otherwise, why don't we just play Dark Souls again?
its not tho, people complaining saying "the game tries to be like sekiro but the parry isnt strong and you cant act quick enough after..." but the game is literally about using both, but dodge is better most of the time, mostly in 1st playtrough Edit: This is a post full game came out comment, If I remember correctly the demo had a weaker dodge and parry
i got to the first boss and only dodged 3 times until i noticed that its a fucking waste of a button input. why put something in the game that does nothing? you might aswell add a button that turns of the game, at least that serves a purpose.
@@kuro5041 why should i need to upgrade something like that? its like you playing a game as a bird and you have to upgrade your bird to be able to use your left wing so you can fly properly. tbh this game looks fucking amazing but the gameplay is SO bad. the arm attacks are a big waste of time as you have to be inside enemies to hit, weapons only have 2hit combos making combat boring af at best, the fact that you need to repair DURING COMBAT is even worse as not a single enemy gives you time to repair. not only that but most enemies up to the first boss is just faster than the player in their animation, so the big guys who dont stagger are nigh impossible to beat. a game should be both cool and enjoyable to play otherwise its just a bad game
@@Moffattt alright so hear me out: what if we make the harder mechanic stronger and the easier one less rewarding ? parry is the optimal defensive mechanic because if it weren't, then the game would become a rollfest same as souls (im not saying that souls are easy or bad but the fact is that a lot of new players are spamming dodge) so the dodge is made situational. the 2 hit combos are quite bad i agree but you do not have time for more anyways repairing during combat is unique but i agree it's kinda annoying, the thing is: it never comes up unless you're fighting a boss, and bosses give a little breather from time to time the basic arm attack is useless but later you get a nice stun and a grab which is honestly a lifesaver sometimes
I actually finished the game while only using the parry for the red attacks that have a wide area to it and i can not escape it, and the final boss (i had to change my whole build to beat him😅) And i actually enjoyed dodging more than parrying (I did the same when i played bloodborn, never used the parry)
When their healthbar is has a white border thats pretty much like their posture is down and you can do a visceral type strike if you land a heavy attack
Yeah, the game writes it clear as day on the screen LITTERALY while the enemy is staggered and not doing anything. But no, I guess Zanny decided to be illiterate that day or something.
@@pedroportela6476 yea he suffers a bit from wanting to play it like dark souls and not accepting that its meant to be playing slightly different which i like
@@tommyllama4558 heavy weapons not viable, 20 parrys to get a stun that you need to heavy for. Bad parry and overtuned health on enemies. They decided not to copy the combat which leaves me dumbfounded since the whole game is a copy why not go full sekiro combat or full bloodborne combat but instead took one piece of each and it doesn't play out as smoothly. Either way 9/10 game I hope they learn since they're the closest anyone has gotten to a fromsoft game
@@Eauxz You do bring up very valid points, 2nd game made and 1st time in this style, imo technically flawless in terms of bugs and glitches, and optimizations, i do wish they went full combat one way or another, but honestly most flaws can be fixed in a few patches, I am very much looking forward to the future of this studio and will be keeping an eye on the next game, which looks to be very interesting just based off the small clip we get at the end of Lies of P.
Good old Zanny immediately closing and ignoring all pop-ups so he can do a challenge run. He doesn't need core mechanics and design philosophy such as grogginess (posture), weapon artes, the dodge being bad on purpose so you block (Sekiro), and the really cool weapon building system.
@@enol1466 except they're not, Sekiro already proved that that's not the only way Stop trying to force every Souls-like to follow the same damn formula, that's how genres stagnate
Man, Zanny would be so good at this game if he actually took a second to read the tutorial messages that tell him how the game works instead of dismissing them and then being confused about everything whilst missing half the mechanics.
You could argue that the game then is doing a poor job of communicating the game's systems without coming off as tedious busy work, short or otherwise, but that's different topic.
So many of Zanny's struggles could've been avoided by reading the tutorials😂😂 Missed so many stagger opportunities for big boi damage. I pre-ordered this game immediately after beating the demo.
My roommate is playing through it right now and it looks like so much fun lol. Figured it'd be right up Zanny's aisle, but since he didn't read the prompts about parrying over dodges he made the game wayyy more difficult than it actually is lol
watching zanny skip through tutorials on blocking, parrying, stagger and punish, then cry when his dodge spam playstyle doesnt work is truly satisfying
As soon as he said “this game is too easy” I could not wait for him to fight the baton watchman. That dude is the mini margit of this game and forces you to realize lies of p is more parry based for most enemies and more dodge based for others
Zanny come on I expect more from the evening swan man!! Parry the damn things. And he doesn’t do the charged attack when they are staggered too! 😭 You are better 😑
During the demo-The game is confused in itself. It’s basically a culmination of FROMS game mechanics. Hopefully on release the controls and movement will be more…satisfying-rather than a muddy mess.
Bro, parrying does build up Groggy (Posture but you have to charge heavy to activate ripostable state), plus it gradually destroys and damages enemy weapons which decreases their range and damage
At 9:05, when zanny talks about Lies of P being Korean Bloodborne, it actually is, because the developer is Korean. So it actually is Korean Bloodborne, lol. I think it's a good take and try tho!
I'm on act 7 so far, we need zanny's full playthrough of lies of P! I love to see another souls like come out for free on gamepass so everyone can experience what it's like to have to resist throwing your controller into orbit! Zanny we need more lies of P! 😂
This video is giving me flashbacks of that South Park episode where Kyle just wouldn’t read the terms of conditions of an update which got him into a whole human centipede mess with Apple. Remember kids, read the instructions and terms and conditions or you may just end up like Zanny and Kyle
Bro Danny imma lyk rn that whole walking to the side when they do the “big red attack” just doesn’t work in this game😂😂 took me a min to figure it out too
