Hey plasma, I am curious about one thing. What will be the factors into making you decide to upgrade to a new display or tv? What are you looking for spec wise or feature wise? Just trying to make a conversation and I am curious about your point of view. Most of time I see people eager for qd oled and better brightness and that's mostly it.
For my next display, I need perfect blacks equal or bigger than 48', lower than 3ms of persistence, as much full screen and peak brightness as possible.
I definitely prefer HGIG and tuning for 800 nits for this game, the dimness is really counteracted well by the lamp and i think the contrast fits the mood of the game better, even if i don't get perfect visibility near black. With DTM it felt a bit too bright and washed out for me, but it might be my go-to settings if i play the game during the day.
I still can't get my hands on this game,but man exactly as you said a masterpiece!! one of a kind! i know its not the topic,but dude i trust you,do you take screenshots with your controller,i use ps5 edge+dsx xbox emu,its just not working...70 percent of games i cant take screenshots with controller...
EDITED 24/05 I did several tests using lilium on media player classic with avsforum mehanik test patterns - black level and color clipping videos as reference. I compared with original played on VLC video and I think is a win. I might have found a way to have a brighter BFI. (I would say YESSS) Please could you check and tell me what do you think about the results of this method? This method replaces the black floor fix method and I think is easier with better results. Works for any game. Try for example lies of p and guardians. 1 - most likely for C1: white balance : default - warm 3 / TV BFI off / tone map on / brightness 50/ nativ color 50 / black level : complete / gamma 2.2 / secret menu all auto (max cll, etc) 2 - Turn off any other reshade related to brightness/picture/hdr/sdr/… 3 - Brightness and contrast to default on lies of P on the game settings. On guardians of the galaxy I would say both sliders should be max, it depends of the game, avengers for example brightness 7 / white point 200/ max liminance 1000. 4 - Enable reshade lilium HDR/SDR analisys, lilium SDR TRC fix and lilium HDR contrast adaptative sharpening 5 - on SDR TRC fix : set both values above input power gamma (2.20) as power gamma, you need a game scene where you are 100% sure it should be a true black area, even if it is small. With the help of the anylisis tool numbers on the top left: adjust input power gamma (2.20 by default) till you see that minCLL is “positive” (0.0004 or something) and then adjust slightly just the exact input to get 0.00000. Then disable hdr analysis. (It seems that it is no longer possible to do this, since when you set power gamma on both fields, which is requiered, the input power gamma will not affect the min nits of the picture, so you might find another way , use black floor or leave 2.20 as default and 1.79 for bfi high) Done. Now: BFI high. Set input power gamma to (whatever you have - 0.41) to have a brighter picture. (120hz - hdmi should be set as PC) Done Tone mapping results with bfi high using this method: All good but red 530nits. Note: penalty for lowering input power gamma is small color clipping. If tv native color is important, it could be increased a bit getting some clipping penalty. It might be another way to get even better clipping results. I am not an expert, if the results are getting some picture penalty let me know. This is the only way I found to increase the BFI brightness without lot of clipping or breaking the blacks (at least the video black level shows correct values) note: this was only for HDR content. But might work for SDR or W11 HDR conversion. Note: the lilium hdr contrast … increases the textures quality with upscaling. Take a loot to Drax tattoos on guardians main screen. On some games, (for example guardians, but not lies of p) it also sets automatically the black floor correctly and increases brightness adjusting midtones. Try it on guardians of galaxy and you will notice it. This has an 5% impact on the performance. 100% worth. For movies: all the same as above but use vivid mode and set dynamic contrast high. Set HDMI (not as PC) If you use deblur and dejugger 10 (recommended) set bfi medium instead high. will have better result than high, and less flicker. Then input power gamma is always 2.20 and with bfi medium -0.26 (instead -0.44, which means should be 1.94) In case you use any other plugin, make sure to list in the correct order the reshade plugins because changing the order could change the result of the picture. lilium SDR STR fix is below sharpening. But i think it does change anything in this case. UPDATE 24/05: - above text changed - I have used a new black test pattern. (It is on avsforum, the name is c64-c255) This includes how many nits should be on some of the black level bars: 0 - 0.1 - 0.25 - 1 - 3. Thanks to this, I was able to correctly determine correct values for input power gamma when bfi is on. I checked that the luminance of the tv was same , using an mobile app with some tricks to be sure i was not wrong. So it will not raise the blacks. - lilium tone mapping : not sure if use it or not. In case yes should be set to 800nits and do not use method A because nits curve will be nom proportional and unacurate. However white will clip at 3000 nits. Not sure if it should be like that or not. If you dont use tone mapping you might use lg game optimizer menu and set white to 20, but still unsure if you should. Not using tone mapping or white balance means you could miss details on white but I am not really sure if those details should be like that or not. Using tone mapping will decrease brightness in whites. - White balance should be tv default, otherwise it might be problems, such as white clipping.
More testing hours and realized old mistakes. I think this is the final update. I have deleted old comments and updated the first one with correct settings, values and explanations.
Took me a while to get use to 24hz content on my C1, it's still feels a bit rough sometimes depending on the content, even though the LG motion smoothing is fairly good. I didn't realize how spoiled I was with the Plasma, my TV's in a reasonably bright room, so definitely can't go back.@@plasmatvforgaming9648
Hi man , i wanted to ask . Why are you using 1000 nits in lies of p native hdr instead of maxing out hdr slider and setting mastering peak accordingly. I remember you told me to use maximum hdr peak brightness for native hdr games. Thank you .
Because this is not native HDR and testing this RTX HDR I see that 1000 with Dynamic tone Mapping is clipping the highlights. Also, I'm using OLED Motion pro and pushing brightness for the highlights, takes away from the full screen brightness, which is important for BFI
Burnt-in isn't something to detract from buying an OLED but you definitely have to hide the task bar completely and have no icons or wallpapers if you don't want Burnt-in

I wanted to ask you about this : does lossless scaling frame generation (LSFG) works with video players like pot player and the force on auto HDR ; I have a 60 fps SDR video that I want to watch at 120 fps HDR , but the video is too long to interpolate it with svfi it takes too much time , so is it possible to play it with pot player and enable the force on auto HDR on the player and then double the fps with lsfg ? I just wish this game had dynamic HUD option. Sadly, there isn't even a mod. Would be nice to have for OLED users. I still kinda worry burn-in can happen. While we are at it, subtitles also make me worrisome...
I play the game with the hud off unless I start dying to much but I'd definitely like to have an automatic HUD or even just a transparency slider. There's a ReShade Add-ons that can do the job, and I'll when I figure it out
You dont have BFI 120hz but in exchange you could use G-Sync and enhanced inpug lag. Not compatible with BFI. Not to mention that C3 is brighter than C1. Also, movies are 24-60hz, which has BFI, so you still can use BFI on movies. So it is not a bad choice after all.
There's some difference between dldsr and legacy on the quality for the same res, i feel like legacy gives a much cleaner result despite losing some fps. Also as a non LG user, I think the auto hdr / custom lut profil is the best way to play this game ?
Yo plasma! Do you know if vrr works outside of game mode with allm engaged, and can you can still tweak black and white stabilizers, fine tune dark areas outside of game mode as well?
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Well I’m hearing for new models like the G3, it’s better to play in game mode for higher color brightness and peak brightness. Wondering if you can still use vrr and game optimizer in those other picture modes
FTDA doesn’t work outside of game mode. But vrr does, you can check if vrr is active in any mode by pressing the green buttons like 3-5 times I can’t remember exactly.
I use Calman studio for HDR 3D luts on windows and with games with my LG G3.. it costs but it is worth it! no need for all these stupid tools and fixes...
