Brother David Bryant, O.S.B., is a Benedictine monk at the Monastery of Christ in the Desert. He has been a monk for over 20 years. He has a RU-vid channel called The Desert Monk and accompanying blog, Facebook page, and Instagram where he shares his life in a monastic community in intimate detail. The Monastery of Christ in the Desert is a Benedictine Abbey in northern New Mexico near the town of Abiquiu. Nestled in the 50,000-acre Chama River Canyon Wildernes, it is merely 5 miles from the Continental Divide Trail, one of the United States' "Triple Crown" of trails, stretching from Mexico to Canada. Open for day and overnight visits, it has hosted people such as Georgia O’Keeffe and Matthew McConaughey.
In this interview we talk about Brother David's journey to becoming a monk and how he ended up at Monastery of Christ in the Desert. He talks about why living in a remote wilderness is important to his life as a monastic. He talks about his life at the monastery and as a Benedictine monk and what visitors to the monastery can expect with their stay. He also reveals whether or not the monastery is a home for beer wizardry now or in the future. Brother David was more hospitable towards me than I could have hoped. I really enjoy watching his channel, and I think you would really enjoy watching his channel if you like mine. Please follow him via the links below.
