Nice little winter necessity excursion. Enjoyed it. Man those taters and steak looked yummy. I like how you brought it all back together to warm it through. I like to use the precooked bacon pieces and toss those in the potatoes about halfway through (about the time the oil or butter disappears). Nice option. Suggestion for buddy heater: get yourself a small bulk cylinder say 10 or 20lb size and a regulator then you won't have to change out the little green bottles and a boatload cheaper to run. You can set your hose up for however long you want it to be so the bottle can go outside of the tent too. Not sure of the altitude there but the buddy heaters get finicky at about 8k ft above sea level. Just ideas. Thanks for taking the drone up and panning the horizon out from your site, that was cool.
@wildwoodoffgridalaska
@wildwoodoffgridalaska 3 года назад
Thanks Bret, great idea for the bacon bits in the taters. I have several propane tanks and 12 ft hose for connecting the big buddy heater. The reason I didn’t use it is because propane just doesn’t do well in cold temps and I would have had to have the bottle outside the tent in the extreme cold. I’ll have to do a test run and see if that matters. The second reason was that I didn’t have room to back a big bottle in the sled with the other gear.

Good to see you got lots of snow. I have a mr buddy heater too. I now up graded to the dyno glo heater that attaches to propane tank. It works amazing. However I don’t sleep with it on.
