yeah the Pentax 6x7 shutter is magical sounding! Portra 800 is nice but pricey. Portra 400 has SOOOO much latitude though...really amazed me when I started shooting film

A friend of mine was a photographer years ago, went around the world shooting assignments with a Pentax 6x7. He loved it and called it many things but I don’t remember him ever calling it lightweight. Also he was up and ready to start shooting early in the morning “golden hour”, the retreat to the put for fish and chips and a few pints, he was from the UK. Then back out late afternoon for more shots and the day was done. Well maybe a few more pints.

That late model 67 SMC 90mm lens is so good! Everyone wants the 105 so that 90 can be had for half the price of the late model 105. Also Portra 800 has a lot more saturation than the 160 and 400 but I could also really notice the difference in contrast from the pentax 90mm vs the Mamiya. The Pentax just looked a little better with the way it renders the colors and micro contrast. The other good thing about the Pentax is the 1/1000 shutter speed so you can get away with shooting ISO 800 film in a lot more situations than you can with the Mamiya.

Last week I accidentally did the same thing with my RZ 😅😅 I was trying to rotate the frame but moved it to multiple exposure

i just started experimenting with film photography last month and what you said about how every picture you take, the shutter sounds therapeutic, it's so so true. sometimes if i'm out of film i'll just point and shoot to hear that sound lol, i love it

Superb shot

If I want to make images around golden hour, I save it for last in my shoot. I usually plan my shoots at least 2 hours before then. I save the planned shots I want to make on film for the first half hour before sunset. Usually by then trust is gained from my model and for non-models, they are less anxious about posing. By then I already got most of the images needed for my shot list or whatever looks I'm working with. It's all apart of the learning process, I made those mistakes too. Great images! And you got me thinking about finally shooting on Portra 800!

Some of the pictures you show in your videos combined with many other Pentax 67 shooters' videos convinced me - I must have this camera. Your model was super chill and seemed great to work with and it looks like your upbeat personalities were a great match. One thing I would like to suggest - try and snap a couple of smiling / smiling eyes / positive expression and whatnot images now and then. I know you were probably going for a certain mood, but she kind of looked constipated / dead inside in all of them.

I always tell my models an hour earlier than the time I expect to shoot. CP time definitely applies to photoshoots in LA. Chances are they’ll arrive about 30 minutes before you actually planned on shooting, then y’all can get comfortable with each other. Loved the photos from this shoot and the models hair was 🔥

Man first off I can tell you how relieving it is to see a black operated photography vlog. I recently got a Pentax 67 and love watching all the various RU-vidrs that rock that camera but sometimes it definitely feels a little unrelatable. The production quality of the videos and the outcome of your photos are beautiful! Keep at it man I'm hella inspired to see you out here! With that out the way haha I was wondering what programs you use to scan your negatives? I just got an Epson v600 and been flipping my negatives in negative lab pro / lightroom but haven't been super happy with the quality and colors I'm getting out of it.

Love the set man especially the one with the newspaper! Might have to include that type of posing on my next shoot! Also, you can buy an extension tube on your Pentax 67 and it will do close-up shots just as good as the RB! I have one on my Pentax 67 and boy my RB’s a benchwarmer since then. You can check out Barney Arthur’s channel he used it on his pentax in case you haven’t seen already! Great vid man peace!

Awesome images! When using the RB do you find yourself not nailing focus as often as you do on the Pentax or is it more about the Pentax being sharper when shooting wide open?
