Originally from western Nebraska, Anne developed her sense of independence, stubbornness, and desire to push herself to unknown limits. After spending time backpacking with her husband in the Winds while living in Nebraska, Anne is now eager to call Lander her home. Having an appreciation and knack for organizing, planning, and streamlining processes, she decided to get her degree in Recreation with an emphasis in fitness, exercise, and business from Chadron State College. Anne currently enjoys working with small businesses and coordinating grant projects at Central Wyoming College. In her free time, you'll find her running, working out at the gym, training for her latest adventure, cooking, blogging, and working an art show booth with her husband, Zach. They have an adventurous set of twins to keep them busy.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Stepping of your comfort requires you to extend your personal boundaries in order to create a fulfilling life. Successful people have pushed past their comfort zone in order to reach their current level of mastery. Leadership expert Brian Tracy once said, "You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you're trying something new."

I started initially judgemental that she was reading cards unlike most Ted talks. After hearing everything she put herself through i wasnt ready for the raw emotion at the end. i was wrong. What courage it took to stand up in front of everyone and share such a personal story to the world. The cards made it more courageous. She was totally out of her comfort zone and taught me a ton. That was real!

To be honest, when seeing those cards, I almost wanted to skip this ted talk. But when I started to scroll down to see the comments, I decided to keep watching it. Now i am so glad I had watched it thoroughtly. Congratulations you finshed the cross line again, giving us a good speech which inspires me a lot. And big thanks for those people writing good comments because it push me to watch the whole video.

Love these. I have lived outside the comfort zone. Got laid off lost everything was scared as a single mom. Well I and my kids had such an awakening. No car, no money I found my business and WITH NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE WENT FOR THE LIFE I WANTED TO CREATE. Love it best time of my life. I could never explain the experience of losing my car in the ghetto walking those streets in 120 degree summer. I met the most beautiful people and found this dream. Weirdest success nobody thought I could. Mom said work at McDonalds. Nope I refused to do this again without profound change. My kids I wanted them to learn from this how to pull through.

Why would anyone in their right mind accept to get themselves electrocuted to the point of passing out? That can be extremely harmful, you can die from it in the next couple of days, even if it didn't kill you on the spot. It's very irresponsible for parents to put themselves through such a risk! Who would have taken care of their babies if something happened to them? Also, what was the whole point? You're supposed to overcome the challenges life throws at you, not to create horrible ordeals for yourself and then feeling good about pulling out off!

Life begins at the end of our comfort zone. Comfort does not teach us a lesson. Only at the end of a comfort zone can we really live...

My "comfort zone" is continuing to go to school to not disappoint my mom, slowly wasting my very limited time I get to spend on this earth (possibly in existence). Outside of that is creating games, moving to different countries. Exploring. Being free. But it also means disappointing my parents, at least in the short term. I don't know what to do.

That degree will give you freedom in the future. Get the degree and save as much money as you can. Plan for a "walk-about" for a year or so AFTER you graduate while deciding what will really make you happy.

i coulfny pay attrntion to anything she said. watching her look at her cards and she was literally talking as she was reading. The message like most Tedtalks must be good but it was a wastr of time. she need some speech mentor or practice more. No emotions from her....plain boring.

She needs to drop the cue cards. It makes her presentation look inauthentic and detached.

This was like an elementary school speech, "What I physically did during summer vacation". Ted's really lowering their standards for who gets to speak. People can simply read their speeches in a monotone voice and it makes it to youtube. I sensed personal, emotional, identity issues at the end. This was more of a cathartic vehicle for the speaker than a valuable dose of information for the public viewer. Why is this a Ted Talk???
@Trophonix
@Trophonix 7 лет назад
the message made sense. she didn't actually read in a monotone voice. but I do agree she isn't the greatest speaker.
