I don't know where you used to live but the weather in Brussels is better on average than the Uk and Northern Germany for instance. Great videos btw

I’m from the UK but have lived in Brussels for almost a decade, and bxl is for sure more grey. Has the most cloud cover of any major Western European city. It’s fucking depressing. But yeah we’ve had a few banging summers recently. This one has been shit so far. But yeah the fact she spends so many minutes on the weather is dumb. It’s not extreme. But look who her sponsor is…

@@HM-mw7cg I visit northern Germany a lot (Bremen, Hamburg). On lots of occasions when I left Brussels by train, it was sunny and warm, and by the time I arrived in Bremen, it was cold, rainy or foggy. A friend of mine has lived in Dublin, Brussels and Bremen and said the weather was the best in Brussels ...

Annual rain in Paris 720 mm, Brussels 807mm. Mean annual temperature Paris 11.7°C , Brussels 10.7 °c . Enough with the Brussels bashing . Avff. The girl should travel .

Hey @the_beast11-goat! I'd say for life in Brussels, day to day, French is more useful. However all of the paperwork/ logistics is done in Dutch, French and German :)

I’m looking to transfer with my US company to Brussels but live in Ghent. Speaking of languages…not all roles require French but I thought it be smart to take French again. I’ve only taken beginners 101 and 102 here. I need structure and do not trust myself to learn enough French in my own. I know you taught with Lingoda, however for certification and efficiency and pricing, would Lingoda still be best or should I try online zoom courses with Alliance Française?
@AlexandraTempleton
@AlexandraTempleton 3 месяца назад
Hello Aurelie! How exciting that you'll be moving to Belgium :) Regarding your question on French, I'd say that Lingoda is a great option to start studying French remotely until you make the move here. Once you're in Belgium, you can always switch to in-person classes with Alliance Française. Also, if you sign up with this link (try.lingoda.com/Ally25 ), you get a discount on your first set of classes with Lingoda ;)

Gent is a wonderful city to live, lovely place and not a big commute to Brussel, i would say try to learn some basic dutch but most of us flemish speak English fluently so you will be fine with the basics
@aureliedubois2605
@aureliedubois2605 5 дней назад
@@stoffel880 thank you! I visited Ghent for about 2 weeks last year but didn’t really explore Brussels. I do think staying in Gent/Ghent a bit of Dutch might be helpful too. I did get by with English and the occasional French (very limited conversation with an older woman at a tram stop on the way to breakfast one morning) and that’s when I decided if I make the move, I’ll need more language to try to make the move less stressful. I already speak Spanish and find French comes a bit easier for me than my friends that only speak English but still need way more work. To be honest, Dutch seems very difficult to me. Any tips for learning Dutch or maybe an area of conversation I should start my education? I don’t want to always default to English as I think I really should learn more of the local languages. For work, I’d be looking at commuting from Gent to Brussels.

While you may not get to use the other two languages you studied in Brussels, having experience with other Romance languages probably helped you acquire French faster than if you hadn’t studied any. The pronunciation of French is certainly different, but the grammatical structure and vocabulary definitely have a lot in common. I imagine you could probably pick up Italian pretty easily at this point, too, as it’s very close to French in grammar while its pronunciation is more like Spanish.
@AlexandraTempleton
@AlexandraTempleton Месяц назад
That's exactly my hope! I"ll be starting an intensive French immersion course in two weeks so wish me luck :) Thanks for watching @edmerc92 and I wish you a nice day!
