Ale, you deserve a medal. All the work you do, from grocery shopping without a car, taking the boys to school(s) cooking, laundry. You must be very tired by evening time. I am pleased that everything is going well for your family. Please make sure you get enough rest. You must be missing flying. Once you get more settled in, I hope you can think of working for an Airline in Europe. Blessings to you and your family. Enjoy the weekend. 🙏🙏💖🍁

glad to hear that the kids are acclimating to their new schools. As you know from your own experience, moving to a new country is challenging, but definitely doable. And once you get past all those bureaucratic hoops you have to jump through, you'll be able to settle in and really start to enjoy it!

I don't understand how anyone can be a hater of your move. Boggles my mind. I LOVE learning about other cultures. Your family seems to be doing very well, and I'm glad you are closer to family. I lived the military life before my husband retired, and I know what it is like to raise kids with no family around and the constant moves. You will find your way with the school situation I'm sure-it's just so much to try to figure out at first and so many hoops to jump through. Thank you for sharing your life with us!

I’m in Florida and I’ve never hung clothes out to dry. I think a large part for me is it varies so much by season. In the spring you would not want anything outside or it would be completely covered in yellow pollen from all the trees. I live in a neighborhood but a little more spaced out with nature. I’m pretty sure I’d end up with bird poo or squirrels trying to run across the clothes.

Thank you for a nice update. Moving to a new country is hard. It is exciting & it is wonderful to be in a completely different culture except when it is challenging. You already speak the language although there may be some differences in Spain as every country, even regionally, there are differences. It is natural to worry about how your kids will adjust in school as well as in other situations. Y'all are not in Kansas anymore! So keep wearing your ruby slippers & please keep giving us glimpses of your experiences.

I am a Spanish woman who moved to the US when my son was 3. It is very hard to do a change like this one. You are lucky to have your village around. I didn't have anyone. My husband was commuting to NYC at the time, out of the house from 6am till 7pm, and my inlaws were both working full time and lived about 1hr away from us anyway. It was SO lonely and SO hard. Smoking and drinking age is tolerated different in each country in Europe . Most countries the drinking age is 18 and that is more what people look for than the smoking. When i was in high school at some point the teachers just told those who smoke to don't do it inside the school or somewhere to visible , parents do know ,but as long as is not drugs they dont bother. As for the drinking well doing it outside is not really allowed. But you can still see teenager 15+ y/o having a glass of beer in a family gatherings , which people accept. In my countries parents with boys and specially the fathers actually try to teach them how to drink before they are at legal age for it , so they dont end up drunk somewhere and cause troubles.

The high school system is very similar here in Jamaica 🇯🇲 . high school starts at 7th grade (12 years old) and goes up to 11th grade (about 16 years old). The other two years of high school (which we usually call sixth form) is optional and is almost like a pre-university. A lot of students do go as they are usually still underaged or not ready to go to university after leaving 11th grade

when our daughter started high school 6 th or 7 th grade. I like it because each class had a floor where all there classes, so they can't get bullied etc when they first started high school. they don't see the older kids. not till you becomes in the 11th glade do you have classes, or are on the same floor as the senior's. Glad every thing is working out. as far as hanging your clothes wrong. the only thing I can think of is. where you put your clothes pins. so they don't leave your clothes with clothes pin marks or lines/ unwanted crease on them. and not get teases about them. I grew up when all you had was the clothes line to dry your clothes.

Tim Horton's, funny as I'm from Toronto so I know they are in Spain from previous trips but still unexpected. Glad the school registrations are done and that part of the move is complete. The smoking culture in EU especially with the young folk was noticeable when we tour, even on some of the school trips that we observed. It is not expected as generally EU is overall a healthier environment in so many other ways. I think the kids are provided more freedom and are less "controlled" than in NA so they may tend to be more independent, and more self reliant at a younger age.

People underestimate culture difference. As a brit we have travelled to Spain and the USA and both are very different from what we are used to. Enjoy the opportunity to widen you kids experiences it will do them the world of good in the long run. Just wondering when you are going to go back to flying and how that is going to work for you.

When are you going back to flying? Will you still be based out of Orlando?

Everyone smokes in Spain- a huge proportion of the youth also do- it doesn’t seem to be an issue there. It’s a bit ‘rougher’ than the US!

yeah, so far that's the only thing that has worried me. BUt thankfully, alex is aware of how bad it can be.

Just because children are smoking outside school doesn't mean your son will. I doubt very much he will mix with bad company. At the end of the day I doubt the Spanish school will have metal detectors and guns. Fair play to you all embrace the change. You're in Spain you speak the language. It's a good environment sun, good food child friendly. You'll be good and get there.

Great vlog, Ale. I'm glad that Alex loves his new school. I thought it was funny when you were getting Alex enrolled, and they thought you were a student. I know how it is because when i would walk through a casino i would get carded until i was about 28 years old, and i thought it was funny when it happened to me, so i just made a big joke about it

I grew up in two cultures as well. I know you are worried about your oldest son's influences at school, etc. Honestly, what he learns at home will rule over all that & it seems as though you & your family instill great morals & values. Easier said than done, but try not to worry too much.

Thank you for sharing your videos, I have been to Alicante several times and Spain. Im older than you, and I want to retire as a teacher soon, I want to rent an apartment 2500 euros in Alicante a one or two bedroom, do you think it’s possible? Also in Dpain public schools are great for primary but private is the way to go for secondary. Especially if you want him to go to University.
@WonderfullyAle
@WonderfullyAle День назад
I think it depends on the school, i've heard both about the schools, good and bad. 2500 euros is doable, however, overpriced, so just make sure to find someone to help you.
