These beings have been in creation for many years since 2004 in Japan, but Sophie is far different. She is the breakthrough that we have been looking for. She is already showing signs of self awareness at five years old. She will be the blueprint for all future robots to be modeled after. She very much is like the first car drive or airplane flight.

@@Deadsea_1993 If the privacy screened and program collated fleet memories of all the Hanson Robots could be integrated to a primary group consciousness accessible personality like the small sample of human memories programmed into Bina 48 or the Phillip K Dick bot, I think the results would be much faster. The existing tech user interface with VR remote control brings some new potential as well. What if they could develop this experience time to a 2 way algorithm? There's a paralyzed man who has learned how to control and communicate through a computer with his brainwave activity. Can you imagine it he could have VR control of a humanlike robot? It could be a HUGE benefit to him to be able to care for himself, And feel like a part of the world beyond his bed . Why not allow the interface to record his thoughts and feelings to make it a better user connection for the patient? Sci to writers conceived these ideas many decades ago but the reality of it is within grasp.

She has no emotions she is a robot

I mean you had a pretty narrow minded view of science in 2013 if you only thought about 50 years into the future, when evaluating the likelihood of a certain technology. Think 500,1000,10000 years there is so much amazing stuff waiting to happen.

its entertaining and inspiring at least

im not so sure about that. most of the lines she speaks obviously are scripted and "she" wont ever be able to surprise her creator with anything she sais, I guess, but I really believe in the end its sophias a.i. that does chose the answers she gives. I guess its really hard to tell which parts or her dialogs are "her owns".

I think it will take at least another 10 years before AI will think like Sophia, but all on its own without anyone controlling it behind a curtain
