About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Simplicity is the key of happiness. This man lives like that - and me too! I had a very so called “rich“ life for 38 years, but I understood: RICH IS NOT WHO OWNS EVERYTHING. RICH IS WHO DOESN'T NEED IT...! I collected companies, materialistic things, had stress and got sick. So I gave all up and changed my life to a simple one. Now, after 30 years, I live on a beautiful beach on a beautiful island in a warm country with warm hearted people, replanting my own food, getting eggs from my chickens, eating fishes from the sea, learned instruments to play autodidacticly, also painting, and live from playing saxophone in summertime some hours. I live mobile in a horse trailer, after travelling on a boat for many years, together with lots of stray cats and dogs and I'm very happy.

I think it is human comparison that leads to our life becoming more and more complicated and difficult!
@haroldp.1724
@haroldp.1724 Год назад
And, from comparison, comes jealousy and greed... But, greed itself seems sometimes to come from somewhere else too. Well, in the end, reources management et social organisation starts to be necessary and it is when wrong ideas / influences start to take place if people charged (or self-proclamed as so) start controlling things for their very benefits instead of the group of people they should take care... Later, people will say that some are more valuable than others instead of valuing everyone, as everyone is different and does bring something useful to life, even where people think or expect it the less... I tsop her to keep things short, there is so much to be said if gloing don into details. But, Yes, we are making things over-complicated and very often in a more destructive way than we should, because of this comparison / competition problem that resonates with selfichness.....

For one thing, we really need to redefine the term "food" these days - that's really and seriously gotten overboard, period. It's about the most despicable hump (no pun intended) of capitalism, any idea how many people ww will not be able to independently manage their every day in 25 years, simply because of their current weight at an older age, and/or subsequent health defiencies. Where are all those caregivers supposed to come from?? Generation Y and Z will be either inoperative or in need of nursing, when X is hitting 85 - 90, it actually might be a close call who's holding up better then. With Hurrah into doom!! A cynical lmao.

What indirectly says is that the economical system we are working is not fair and is not in tune with how we used to live for the most of our history. What modern life did is cut our direct connection with the land and other people by dipending on the market. In the past our survival was depending on our direct relation to the land and other people which was called the tribe. So what he showed is that when he returned to that way of living he was working less and enjoying life more with less energy. The underlying question is why when you depend on the market you get a lot less for the same amount of work? My answer is that those that make the rules of the market get a lot more and someone has to lose. Those who lose are the working class and this truth was the argument for communism and we know how that project went. What he indirectly recommends is a return to our ancestors way of living.

I think some people are missing the point. I don't think he's saying everyone needs to physically build a house and grow your own food. What I do think he's expressing, is we need to stop trying to "keep up with the Joneses" and not let our society, fashion, peers or anyone else dictate to us how our lives should be lived. We get so caught up in this little ridiculous crap that we'll do things like work 12 hours a day at a job we hate, to come home to a place that has six bedrooms, marble bathrooms and a kitchen big enough to cook for a basketball team. And at the end of the day, it makes you miserable.

Yes, he is. A compromising interpretation at best...you are welcome to that, but it's a lot more than just understanding. And the way you describe it there is no mal-intent by others. In our global society, everything is a commodity, life giving water, life building food and life saving medicine everything comes with a price tag. to do this in america, you would need a lot of money to buy land. you would need expensive equipment to plow the land. you would need to pay for water to grow plants. you are controlled by the amount of money you make instead of what creative things you can build. you are also controlled by the government, you have to apply for grants, apply for jobs, and you are forced to live a life serving other people so that you can one day host jobs for other people. it's much more than just capitalism. this is why so many people are depressed. no one wants to help unless they are paid to.

He might actually not be very intelligent, compared with his peers, but here's the paradox: if he was intelligent he would still be competing in Bangkok, because the smarter you are, the higher in the hierarchy you get, and even if it's a hierarchy of slaves, the number 1 will find it difficult to leave for something unsure. He has something that beats intelligence though, he has wisdom. With wisdom he has freed himself, and people are coming to him to learn and work for him. I just hope he doesn't create a new hierarchy of slaves.

He's talking about the way that we ALL used to live at one time. People were self-reliant, self-sufficient. Farming, hunting, living in small communities where we knew everybody. The way that we live now is killing us. It's not healthy. It's not the way that we were meant to live.

Silviu Constantin if you ask me, there should be a 1 child policy for every couple just like china, because our population issue (lots of consumers) appears to be the largest issue aside from limited resources. My advice is to have less sexually focused media, and increase the number of jobs which produce more than they destroy (large amounts of data are required to measure this accurately (obviously infinite data would be preferable but doesn't appear to be an option))

This video helped me realize about having hold so much pressure in life even though we can think things much simple. We don’t need to be rich. We don’t need all of the modern stuff. Why should you follow trends even if it’ll be over anyway? The most legendary people on Earth is the one who enjoys and makes life simple like this guy. Good work, sir! 👍👏😮

How, in America, can you just pick a spot and build a house? Live free? No more squatting rights anywhere? Have to have money. Have to have too much. Just to exist. Not fair. Not right. It is slavery. I feel like my Irish forefathers that were slaves here in America. Can't bee free from all that is expected of ANYONE in this society. And who else would have me? Let me just live as I see fit so long as I bother no one else? So sad. I didn't ask for this life. I was programmed into it and don't know anything different.

Life can be difficult for many reasons, such as the challenges of working and paying bills, the stress of daily routines and responsibilities, or relationships with others that can be complicated at times. It can be helpful to focus on what you can control and try to find the positives in any situation, even if it may not be easy. Taking care of yourself and engaging in activities that you find enjoyable can also make life seem less overwhelming and more manageable.

Very beautiful speech and words of encouragement. Unfortunately the world we live in is built around money...We r made to believe if we dont work hard and earn money, we cannot afford the necessities of life. The way this speaker said Life is easy!...It is only easy when a family stays together...In todays world people seperate themselves from families, once our kids grow up they leave and want their own space and freedom...An extended family doesnt appeal to them. Thank you for this beautiful speech I could relate if I was in Fiji, where I was born. But now I am in Australia and with the cost of living going insanely high, Life is not easy! Good on you for lifting others!! Appreciate, we need more of you in this world.
