I think one of the worst things parents can teach their children is that if they work hard or do and be good then they will be successful and/or good be done to them. That is not reality. Sometimes we can work really hard and we still don't get what we want. Sometimes good people could hurt very badly. I wish some parents would be more realistic and how the world works so kids won't be thinking in a sense that the world revolves around them and what they do. Instead of painting a picture of everything is roses around the door, I wish parents would teach your lessons on how to deal with it when things don't go your way or things go negatively.

As always another great video. How would you apply this to systemic injustice like oppression? Sexism, racism, homophobia, etc. These are injustices that will only be erased in the future by people fighting for it, and to fight for it you need to have some kind of (emotional) drive. For many people that is anger.

Anger is a great catalyst especially for those of us who developed codependency and yes, I'm gonna say it, and call it, depression. Yes, depression is real, not just a red light emotion, and depression puts us into a daze, autopilot, "sleep" mode, or as I've experienced, zombie mode. Just existing, letting life happen to us. And then, as we begin to know our value and worth, that we are good enough, that we are our own person the equal of all others, and begin to set boundaries, anger is really helpful in creating boundaries and holding them. And because in the past we've been shamed every time we've tried to stand up for ourselves, we don't need to be shamed for becoming angry when it's what we need to give us the courage to actually develop boundaries, then work to enforce them.

Poverty sometimes makes me feel sad, not only mine but also because of so many people I used to see living as a homeless, I can't avoid this feeling. Last week I went o an event for free about business, and I left there feeling unwell, the vast majority of speakers are wealthy, they have no idea how difficult it is to move up from a lower social class in the country I live in.

Thanks again! Something I’ve found incredibly useful that I gleaned from your teachings but I don’t think you’ve touched on directly is the value of recognizing when someone else is having an inner child issue. It allows you to be much more resourceful in dealing with people. For example everyone at work might think Sue is unstable or hostile but no, it’s just that certain things trigger Sue’s inner child to become hyper defensive. By recognizing that, suddenly Sue’s behavior makes perfect sense and is predictable, and you can get her cooperation and avoid her wrath simply by saying something supportive in those moments and avoiding CCJ. We are surrounded by children in grownup clothes, and when we start seeing those children the world becomes a more interesting and navigable place.

Great teaching but my inner child will not let me relax and find peace after a worrying time this year. All is ok now but the ic is keeping me on high alert and causing red light feelings. Just want it to relax so i can

For me that voice says it’s not fair everyday - when I’m smarter than others and worked my ass off for good grades and work harder than others but not living a better life than those who are born with a silver spoon
