Hey - what's going on with the EM job market right now? Have your residents been talking about this? I feel like academic shops really want fellowship trained docs (especially if they're coming from a 3 year residency), but jobs are pretty sparse everywhere right now. And folks have been saying "Oh APPs are taking a lot of the jobs". I'm a little concerned about my future job prospects, here!

Do you have any advice for not matching. I applied psych and neuro. Was bummed about neuro but heartbroken over neuro. Did not cross at one institution. Was told I had some of the best 3 letters they’ve ever seen. $500,000 in debt at 34 from 2 masters and med school. I have 2 masters and did 6 years of ED and floor clinical work which is all they’ve been able to recommend for me. They=my school. Pretty much left us floating on an island other than doing a masters with them. Had 4 SOAP interviews but my first choice said we will be hiring you and called 4 times on Match day to ask what happened bc I had ranked them first. Had great positive post interview letters sent to me. PDs IVe spoken to in other fields said they’re not sure what happened and I have pubs too, fine scores for what I wanted, they have no idea what went wrong or what to fix. I am so at a loss and only graduating with lots of health problems, incontinence and spasticity and being worked up for MS- just so my mom can see me graduate bc she is dying. My best friend and son my dog just died as well. Things continue to get worse and I still have rotation left. Really needing to figure out what to do next. I have watched you since you were prepping for step 1 and appreciate any advice you have. S/o to ramen while you were studying. Back then in the cubicles at work!
