This gave me big editorial-for-a-large-media-company vibes with how professional it seemed! This was an awesome watch. Jamie- would you considering making a video detailing the difference between 3 and 4 year EM programs and why you chose a 4 year program? I haven't seen that distinction talked about much! Hope you are catching up on your sleep :)

Good for you! I'm happy working in business but used to be in the emergency responder game. How are you and your team managing with COVID? I'm always curious to hear, I have many family members in medical from nurse, to doctor, to EMT and their experiences are all so different lately. Thank you so much for your service 💜
@mm77curly

@@devito803 It has been really difficult dealing with COVID this year... At the beginning of the outbreak, back in March, we did not have sufficient PPE. Back then it was believed that COVID was, "just like the flu" and "nothing to worry about." Now, in November, we have sufficient PPE and supplies but not enough staff. A lot of my coworkers are getting exposed to the virus and forced to take time off and pay for their own COVID tests. We were never given any extra relief pay or extra PTO. We are expected to work 24 hour shifts (on a transfer truck). It has been really awful. It infuriates me when I see people refusing to do their part and wear a simple surgical or cloth face mask when they're going out and about. I have seen people from all different age groups test positive, have symptoms, or even pass away from it. It is just sad to see when people refuse to accept that COVID exists and refuse to work together to overcome this.

Hey jamie! I'm in my fourth year of med school and because of the pandemic we're being kept pretty much out of the hospitals in my country (understandable), but I had been losing motivation because of just sitting all day reading without any interaction, seeing patients, doing shifts, anamnesis and all of that and this video reminded me why I want to get to residency

There are separate “in-hospital” scrubs and regular scrubs that we can wear outside of the hospital. For sterile procedures we either wear the hospital issued scrubs or a sterile gown over the our regular scrubs.

@thestrivetofit In most (if not all) countries you change to sterile scrubs before any interventions. But if you change into “regular” scrubs before patients check up etc, then what’s the point of being in scrubs before even reaching hospital?
@felixcat9320
@felixcat9320 3 года назад
Am I the only one finding it so strange that in the USA you wear your scrubs before getting to the hospital?? Like, you can bring so many bacteria etc in with your clothes.. in Germany most of the time there are lockers in the hospitals where you can get changed, as well as an own washing system of the hospital.. so you get new clothes at the beginning of your shift and you can dispose it at the end before you go home
@adelez66374
@adelez66374 3 года назад
Yes I was wondering the same thing. Here in England we are not allowed to wear scrubs outside of the hospital like for commute, shopping etc. Yet I see this in many US medical vlogs
@enterusername2855
@enterusername2855 3 года назад
Its the same in the US, where you wear your personal set of scrubs to the hospital and change into hospital scrubs when you get there. I guess it depends on the hospital
@felixcat9320
@felixcat9320 3 года назад
@@enterusername2855 why would you get there in scrubs and then change into new ones in the hospital? Why not wear normales clothes on your way?
@enterusername2855
@enterusername2855 3 года назад
@@felixcat9320 its not really deemed professional to show up in "regular clothes". Its also very regional based. Not everyone lives in a city in the US so they often drive to work in their personal scrubs

So glad to see you posting content again! I have a question - why do health care workers in the USA wear their own scrubs? I see you wearing scrubs in the train and feel like it can't be sanitary to wear those same scrubs when caring for patients. In my country we wear scrubs at hospitals and nowhere else, furthermore we wear clean scrubs every day since they are washed at the hospitals.
