I use a dropped tip feather to pull the back toe out when banding the young. Also when you get splayed leg (which occurs alot with single hatches) I put a stone the same size as the youngster in the nest next to them. It keeps their legs tight under them while growing rapidly. Great video and awesome job getting that pretty red checker back together after the hawk attack..👌
The birds are flying nice what you need to continue to fly your pigeons through the hawk season your pigeons would learn to get away from the hawk and they will be better flyers and they will be very strong don't lock them up keep them out taken from me I got Falcons Cooper's all over the place and I fly them everyday and I'm also tossing them
I had a problem with splayed legs over the years but it all ended when I stopped using crockery nesting bowls and transferred to the recycled card ones. If the nest made by the parents is poor, the legs have nothing to grip on and leads to splayed legs. The cold crockery bowls cut off the blood supply because of the lack of warmth being retained by the poor nesting materials and cold crock pots. Just thought I would comment in case it helps anyone else.
Hello.sir good day watching your video from the Philippines all your warriors pigeon are so beautiful n healthy I'm also ah fancier here Philippines always watching your you tube happy flaying 🕊️🕊️🕊️
Tremendous video man. Really enjoyed it. I'd love to see a video on diet, specifically what your feed mix is for breeders and yb's, and the significance/makeup of the minerals and brewers yeast you added.
@@EBloft I had a bird get hit by a coopers hawk yesterday - I watched it swoop in and they free fell 40 feet before I ran full speed at it and the hawk released it. Got the yb back with a net today, and I had to come back to reference the first aid part of your video. Unfortunately (or really more fortunately) there aren't many videos on first aid for our birds. Just wanted to say thanks again and hope you keep making videos!
@@s.plissken.924 awesome, that liquid band-aid works excellent id suggest you stock up on that just incase of any more hawk attacks until the ybs get familiar with the hawks an learn to get away, if you need anymore advice feel free to reach out i will be uploading more videos soon regarding my yb team an some upgrades on the lofts.
Just became a sub to your channel..!!.....It's good to see a pigeon fancier who really shows the love and compassion for their birds...I look forward to seeing your channel grow!!...
they say when we love something it is so easy to take care of that...and i think you love pigeons like i do...i have 15 of them and i have build a coop that i dont know if i di build it was build by love and i never was tired...but dude you got the best coop..bravo ;
Fantastic let me know if you got some breeders for sale or squaks ro trade also , do have some good genes and blood line here in the Texas state Brother
Cracking video fair play, keep up the good work. After adviced by a fellow fancier, If you get any yb's with splayed legs again I found a medium sized potato in the nest helps and place extra nesting material in the nestbowl, wood shavings, soft twigs. Saved one myself 2 years ago, as long you catch it early, but I made a mistake beforehand disposing the pot egg that was there too early! Both parents over keen sitting the single yb! All the best to you with your pigeons.
You seem to love the sport. I as you started early. I'm a lot older than you. But I also have a great fondness for pigeons and the pigeon sport. Hope you fly in 2022 I know you will do well.
My son & I keep racing Pigeons in the Uk, How come you don't wear a mask when Cleaning your Loft out, Sillicoses (Pigeon lung is no fun guys,) You've got a brill set up going on There Bud, anyway Best of Luck,
Thanks, i wish i would have recorded this whole video with that in mind this was one of my older videos I watched this again the other day an instantly regretted that lol
Man you band birds early, I usually like to wait until they get some pin feathers on them, that way you know they won't "lose the band. Also a ball point pen works great to get the back toe thru the band
I can tell you really care about your birds. Im a big fan already. Hope things goes well for you man. I’m in a similar situation with you right now. Hopefully to race pigeons again, I am just enjoying the birds right now and building a team. Best of luck! From Madison, Wisconsin
After 60 years I have gotten into Homing Pigeons again . I have four young birds from 3 to 5 months old . The 3 month old bird is routing by it's self but the others have flow once and don't seem to eat to fly again . They just hang around the loft and go back inside . I think I will but them all in a box and take them down to my pasture and turn them loose . Any suggestions ? Patience is killing me .
I would definitely basket them up an take them for a short toss even if its only a couple hundred feet, feed only after flying as always, but don’t cater to them to much this way the birds know they have to fly first in order to eat after.
Hey Dude! That's great. I have a suggestion. I figure out that you are releasing the birds in a direction where electric wires are placed so this may cause serious injuries for them. Good luck!
I really enjoy your videos. I haven’t had pigeons for 30 years. My dad brother and I used to race pigeons in Baltimore city used to be a lot of pigeon fliers in that area. It was a lot of competition. I’m looking at the pigeon that was hit by a hawk or a wire, I’ll give you a little tip on what to always keep around for your pigeons. If they get one get like that or get sick we used to call it light when they just sit around and they’re sick they normally would die. The key ingredient is garlic. I’d like to buy the garlic that’s in the little boxes in the grocery store, now this is important don’t buy the garlic that is really white. It will tell you where it comes from and it’s normally China you don’t want that garlic it’s full of toxins, cut a clove of garlic in half about half the size of your thumbnail, isolate the pigeon to where he has food and water, give him that garlic put it down his throat in the morning and again in the evening now it will make him sick. He won’t feel too good from it. You do that for three days the fourth day don’t give him the garlic and two more days, give him the garlic, but make sure he always has access to feed and water dip his head in the water every day, he probably won’t drink but on the third or fourth day he will garlic purifies the blood bird used to get canker. It’s a buildup in the mouth all yellowish white stuff and it would kill him. This garlic knocks it out of him. I wish you luck and hope I helped you out.
Hell how’s it going man? New to pigeon racing. I have three young birds of my own. How often do you feed the young birds? And do you let them fly before feeding?
I always select the mates in order to keep the desired blood lines with in a certain family depending on the performance of those pigeons in earlier years.
Funny you should ask I just finished filming another vid where I mention the use for the cards I haven’t posted it yet. The reason for the cards is to help the birds easily distinguish their own boxes they actually recognize the image on the card

Hi, nice video. I just had my first hawk attack. Got my favorite breeder cock. I caught the hawk with him on the ground. He was opened up from the middle of the back of the neck around to the front down to the crop. It was such a large wound. I came close to just putting him down. Called a doctor friend and we sewed him up. I was pretty skeptical but he has survived. Was loft flying two weeks later. I’m amazed. I really like your loft setup.
Those hawks are definitely a pain, but liquid band aid works great for hawk attacks, i used to sew birds but it was to traumatic an stressful for them. But pigeons are definitely tough birds an quick healers. Thanks
@@EBloft E.B, what would be too many birds for each section? In other words, what's a healthy number for each section in your breeding loft without over-crowding?
@@tomatopictures4455 I can fit close to 30 birds comfortably in each section of the breeding loft, in my racing loft i used to fit 50 youngsters in one section with no problem plenty of perches
IF YOU WANT TO SAVE THE PIGEON FROM EAGAL OR HAWK TRY THIS PUT SOME RING THAT OUT SIDE IT IS SHARP AND IN SIDE SHOULD BE SOFT ,TRY 3 RINGS AROUND THEIR NECK . THIS IS A GOOD IDEA YOU CAN MAKE IT IN A PROFETIONAL WAY ,I LOVE ALL OF THE JOB YOU ARE DOING ,LOVE ALL THINGS THAT YOU ARE DOING .ALSO I HATE EAGAL AND HAWK .IF RINGS DOESN'T WORK JUST SHOOT THE BASTERD. ❤❤❤❤❤🙋♂️⚘
