I think teaching new sewers to read all the different types of patterns as it can be so confusing!

2 bad I live in Canada! Congratulations on the new space. It’s never a good time to start a business but always a right time to live your dreams. It’s tough out there and people are revisiting / discovering making things. You’re a natural at teaching. Found you via the 2022 ‘Frugal Sewing’ challenge. People are also looking to connect, so it’s going to be a great place.

A friend of mine started a group which met once a week to finish all their unfinished project. It just gave us the motivation to get on with things in a social situation and it was very popular. Good luck Sam, sounds and looks fantastic! X

How exciting for you and the town?! Imagine the friendships that will form thanks to your business. Putting in a lining, how to cut fabric accurately and fit or adjust fitting - these would be the things I would rush out to learn.

I really wish you all the best! 😊😊😊 I wish I had just a place where I could go and sew with other people and have someone to help if necessary, but just work in the project I want. The only academy I have near me only offer courses where you have to do certain things following their methodology and this is not what I want.

Soooo excited for you! Can't wait to see what kind of sessions you put on. Zips and buttonholes were things that intimidated me when I first started sewing, still do sometimes 😅 Socials also sound like lots of fun, you could have all your past students do a fashion show in their 'me made's'. Oh my word, this is so exciting! Congratulations! Its going to be amazing. When I first started sewing I went to a local sewing group. We all took our own projects and sewed them up, but there was a "teacher" on hand to provide advice. It was lovely just to be around people who sewed in real life. Kind of wish I was back home in Yorkshire (I live in Northumberland now) so I could come to your workshop!

Wow Sam that’s a fantastic space! 🎉 When I saw your post on Insta I thought you were just going to run workshops every now and then in someone else’s space. This is a fully fledged business - well done! 👏 👏 👏 Re your Q. I was very lucky that from the off I had 121 sewing lessons with a fab teacher (who’s become a good friend) and she also taught me to fit. I think fit is where a lot of people get unstuck and often give up…

This is amazing news congratulations. You could also advertise at your local library if they allow you to. They do in my local library 😁

I'm so pleased for you Sam, you'll absolutely smash it. I'd love to do some classes with you but it's a bit of a commute from Sussex. Maybe if you decide to put on the odd weekender then people could travel up, and Air B+B over a weekend (a lot to ask I know). I attended some classes fairly locally to me a couple of years ago, some of the structured classes were: Get to know your overlocker. Cloning your clothes, making a coatagan in a couple of days. Altering existing or ready to wear clothes so they fit and other hacking tricks. Learning to use a rotary cutter. That's as much as I can remember for the now, but you'll be absolutely grand and I wish you all the very best, so exciting, xxx

I’m local 🎉🎉 I would definitely love a social sewing event as well as specific pattern or specific garment events e.g. jeans, coatigan etc, or maybe upcycling/frugal sewing classes. ITs very exciting 😊. I will be keeping a look out as i would love to join in and support your business.

Congratulations Sam ITY all sounds so exciting. I am up in the Yorkshire Dales which is about 2 hours away. A bit far but not out of the question especially if you were to offer some full day workshops. I will watch this space! Good luck with it.
