Jemima… please be sure to film your dad for you! In the beginning, it may seem intrusive to him, but you’ll treasure them later. Trust me…I said goodbye to my Dad in 2008 and I still miss him every day! He was my rock and I am grateful for every memory. Also…our feelings are NOT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY! Be Jemima and we’ll love you where you are!

Yes Jemima please take this commenter advise. My mom had a stroke in January and never really came back to her self and passed in May and she was only 55. If it wasnt for all of the videos and pictures I took I know it would have been so much harder for me.

Love this advice and definitely recommend for anyone during this difficult period of life. I lost my daddy 2 weeks after I graduated high school so back in the early 2000s where we didn’t record much or even take pictures unless it was an event. I’d give anything to remember how his voice sounded or even the way he walked as we do lose the ability to remember.

I think you should do your own mini-series with your dad. Not for us, but for yourself. Record videos and/or audio of questions about his life, about you, about anything. It’s nice to be able to hear their voice and their thoughts on days that are hard. Being a caretaker is hard but support is needed. The Jems and your IRL community got you

Jemima, I have never written a comment but felt that I needed to encourage you. For the past 2 1/2 years I have been the designated caregiver for my Dad. You do need some alone time but don't do it for a long period. Please talk to a therapist or a caregiver group as you transition to a "new normal". Also, what I have learned that if you find a few hours every week make sure you take some "me" time. I will keep you and your Dad in my prayers 🙏🏾

I think you should make this a series " Cardigan Chronicles" where you put on a cardy and give us an update on your mental health, not to spill all your tea, but just to let us know if you're ok or if there is anything you need or we can do for you. I am WAYYYYYY older than you ,but I get it sis, I really do. I moved from Suitland ( Shout out DMV) to GA and 3 months later my mom died. So I bought a house with a bedroom on the main level so Daddy could come to GA and live with me. And he absolutely refused to leave his home. I fought it for years, but finally gave in, accepted the fact that he will be in hi sown home until the bitter end, Daddy is 85, now my life is coordinating home health aides, adult day care, video doctor visits, prescriptions refills, nutritionist visits, door dash and meal deliveries, constant monthly ( sometimes weekly) traveling back and forth ( yes i am still in GA and Daddy is in MD) and just trying to maintain. I feel you, I see you, I love you and will do whatever you need to help you in any way I can.

Jemima, as you can tell by the comments, everyone has experienced some kind of trial and tribulation in their lives. I lost my 26 year old daughter to stage four melanoma. By the time it was discovered, we had 16 days left until her beautiful soul left us. Enjoy the time you have left with your father and don’t even think about us. This time with him is priceless. I would have never made it through my daughters passing without my faith in God. if I start to worry about something, I just give it to God. He already knows what the outcome will be. We will always be here for you. You make me laugh and have so much fun even though I’m living vicariously through you😊 I signed up to be on the algorithm train where we will be watching your videos every day nonstop. I took care of my dad from 2017 until he passed in 2021 at age 88. It was an honor not everyone gets, but its also emotionally and, at times, physically taxing. You have an added layer in that your means of living relies on sharing parts of your life with the world, highs and lows. You did the right thing by telling us, thank you. You are human first and a content creator somewhere way down on the list. Do what you need to do for you and your Dad, put up videos when you can and be yourself, however you feel, we know you. I personally plan to stream your old videos even in the background so the algorithm keeps feeding. Hopefully all will do the same. Take care.

Jemima, this is my first time commenting outside of sending ❤s to your content. I’m a much older woman (60’s) and have been following you from the beginning. You are the reason I am actually wearing ‘waist beads’ on my plus size body amongst other fashion ideas and loving it!😊😊 I look forward to each post and am extremely proud of you and your growth. Your “Jem-squad” is behind you 💯 and encourage you to take care of yourself first and foremost so that you can be there for those that will need you. Speaking from the experience of being a caregiver to my mother and husband at the same time, while working in law enforcement and attending school full-time, we can actually lose ourselves by trying ‘to always be there’. I have no regrets as they were given the absolute best of me as I had been given from them. It will be almost twenty years now that I lost both within months of each other, but I would do it all over again. The only thing different I would do is to take time to take of me during the process and I am encouraging you to do the same. We got you over here and will be there in any capacity that you need. And to all of your “Squad”, thank you all for your journeys of resilience and the support we are now giving to our internet colleague, sister-friend, niece! Much love Jemima, you are truly a JEM!

In my prayers… being a daughter of a HUGE will southern woman, 81 yrs young this past July, close to bedridden since C19 in jan 2021. Going from a 9-5 insurance agent in an office to caring for her 24/7 at home. I so get you. It’s hard… I fought my brother wanting to put my mother in a home to bring her to my home. I chose to give her back what she gave me. I respect everyone’s view but this was right for me, and her. The struggle of figuring out in less than 24 hours how to prepare to get her here, all she needed to just simply live. Now fast forward to today, I have routines, I cook once a week for her special diet for kidney disease, all her regular Dr appts along with specialist, helping her maintain her everyday self care, etc. it wasn’t easy… BUT GIRL!!! It was so worth it! Now, I’m working again, only part time n it’s remote, but it’s getting easier is my point. U find your groove girl, I promise you! I swear it does! In my prayers always

My son and I moved back home early last year (I just turned 55). My grandmother was 93 and she was giving my mom a hard time. So, I moved in with them to help my mom and to be closer to my son's school where he could get the school bus and I didn't have to drive him. My grandmother passed last October at 94 and my son graduated high school this past May. However, I can't leave my mom because now she needs me. It happens. Life be lifeing. Do what you need to do for you and your dad. When I moved back to this area I also became my dad's medical person so I am taking him back and forth to the doctor and managing some of his business. It is a part of being an adult with aging parents. Post the content you want and if you can't post we will keep you in our prayers. Take care of your family.

You are still able to create but keep what is sensitive too you to yourself. As a viewer of don’t mind not being in the know of all someone business. People are just nosey. . I took care of my mother with Alzheimer's for 3 yrs up until her passing in 2022. What helped me is looking at as a privilege. You get to take care of one of the people that brought you in this world. You don't owe the world anything or an explanation when dealing with real life. Take your time, go through your process. Your days ones will be there to hold you up on the days you can't do it yourself. I've been a Jem for quite awhile...and I PROMISE you, that won't change! We'll be here waiting. What God has for you, will always be there. Put it in His hand my girl. Praying for your strength and that God holds your hand through it all! Love you girl! ❤

I don’t need to know the details of what’s going on with your family dynamics. But take the time you need. Hugs and prayers to you and your family young lady. ❤❤❤

Miss Jemima... the once in a while when I have heard you mentioned your father you came off as grateful, sincere, loving and caring with so much affection for him. I can only imagine the impact the situation is having you. Caregiver mode is real...and taxing. May the power if you believe protect, strengthen, maintain and cover you as you step into this role for your father. This Jem will still be here with my 👍 up and sharing your content. I truly hope you see this! On September 24, 2021 I lost my dad at 58 years old to a massive heart attack. I talked to him the day before and the next day he was ripped away from my life . I relate with you so much because my dad too was my Superman, my everything, I was perfect in his eyes. That night September 24, 2021 I was in a daze in the worst pain in my life laying in bed scared to even close my eyes Jemima. And I got on RU-vid and THERE YOU WERE. You were the ONLY person that could make me even break a smile that night. And I’ve been a follower ever since. The darkest time of my life you made me smile and for a brief second made me forget my dad just died hours ago. Thank you for being you and bringing us along. We’re here for you Jemima . How ever you need us to be. I really hope you get nothing but positivity here and all the support you need. I’m so sorry so very sorry your dad is struggling. I can’t speak for all your gems but from me, it’s ok to focus on you ! I’ll look forward to the videos you do post !!

Hi Jemima. I am writing with hopes of encouraging you to hang in there and lean on God at this time. I lost my father in 2021. I was blessed to spend the last 30 days of his life with him in the hospital. Take care of your dad and yourself as best you can. Enjoy this time with him even though he’s going through a lot with his health. I’m sure you being there will be a great sense of comfort for him. It isn’t easy, but God will carry you through this season of your life. Trust him! I will keep you and your father in my prayers. Wishing you both the best! 🙏🏽❤️

The only advice that I can give you is do not forget your goals over the caring of your dad. I cared for my parents for 5 years. I found that task so mentally, emotionally challenging that I threw myself overboard. Now I stand here with quite a few health issues that I could have avoided if I had taken the time out for myself. If you wouldn’t go you’d be regretting it for the rest of your life.

I moved back home in 03 to help my mom out. She sometimes moves with me. We don't have a close relationship but I still did it. No regrets on my end. My Dad's wife passed during the pandemic. He asked for me and he hadn't really spoken to me in 20 years. It shocked many with his requests. I went with boundaries of what I would or would not do and I have no regrets. He has a second family. So I go home occasionally and check on him randomly. I'm going home next month to check up again. So many of us are taking care of our Dads right now in some way. My advice is take care of yourself as you take care of your Dad. Respect all your emotions. Also, make the best decisions for you and your life. Sending hugs, strength, and love.

From a woman who has had two parents that needed to be taken care of, you will be blessed and God will make away trust me…plan your work and work your plan and all else will work out. If you’re not mentally and emotionally available.... fade to black….Your Father needs you to be your best self ( however that looks); so that he can get the best from you. Do what you have to do…May God cover you all with wisdom and peace during this season. Also this very well may just be a see you later ATL and not a goodbye…
