You are a good man and your son is lucky to have you. If you want a lift from Heathrow in my ULEZ compliant 5-litre Mustang just give me a shout, got to use it while I still can!
Totally agree with respect to the UK Government, Alan. I too can't imagine how we can put up with another four+ years of this gang of goons. Something has got to happen to get us out from under this net zero nonsense. Hopefully this Government won't get us into WW3 before they are kicked out. Safe trip back to the UK!
It will certainly be nice to see you guys back in Cambs, your politics Alan is spot on,Sadly like you have just said the UK is in a much worse position now unfortunately which is getting very scary indeed 😢.
Great words mate you have nailed it in one. Those who work for a living in the UK and have a bit of cash in the bank or have paid their house off are going to get absolutely screwed over. We buggered off to Australia in 2006 and our lives are so much better here. Whatever you do your followers and supporters are on here.
You have to put your family first. Councils and Governments have too much power over private property. Your comments about the politicians are spot on.
I left the UK just after you moved there, I saw something bad coming out of the forthcoming (at the time) elections and I sold up and left whilst I could. Good luck mate, I've enjoyed every one of your videos and I hope you'll continue showing us all how bad the UK is.
I respect your honesty, Alan. It takes a big personality to, firstly, make a change in your life as you did and move halfway around the world and then realise the need to travel back to the UK to attend to personal issues and be frank and open about it. It can sometimes look like being a broad is like being on a long holiday but there are different issues and struggles where ever you try to settle. Hopefully your time back in the UK is productive and I'm sure your old work mates will welcome you back and maybe, if Steve needs someone, he may offer you some short term work to keep you busy and provide RU-vid content, good luck, all rhe best.
Hi 👋🏻 Alan. What a lovely honest story 😊 It’s the best for Tyler and what a top Dad you’re 👍🏻 Wish you both luck and hopefully you’ll make a video with Monica 😘 Take care Mr mondingo man Stevie 🏴
Alan, you are spot on with your line of thought. Only after your last video I said to my Filipina wife , I wonder what Tyler is going to do for work and his future in the Philippines has limitations. I too am a British citizen who has been in the motor trade for the majority of my life and have been living in Spain for 25 years now retired. The wife and I both watch and enjoy your views on the Philippines and your experiences.
your spot with Tyler having work limitations/ future life limitations unless you can do digital nomad type work. More likely you goto live in the Philippines later in life once you have made your money in the west but they have had a great near of a year time there bonding.
You are a good dad and I see that. Try and get him into IT technology; good career and you don't need a degree to get started. Done me proud has IT over the last 35 years or so. I also have a house in the UK, paying council tax, etc, and I am in Thailand. I have a lodger (rent a room scheme) so I have someone in the house and he covers all the bills (my mortgage paid off like you). Having someone in the house is important for insurance purposes; basically you are not covered if the house is empty more than 6 weeks. My lodger has been with me 10 years so you need to find someone you can trust. You will have a problem adjusting to the weather; I do. I have been living in Thailand on and off for 30 years so I am used to Thailand. Hope this helps.
I'm sure Keir Starmer will welcome you back with open arms. Been to the Philippines 16 times and are due to go in November again. I know where I would rather live. In fact I am pension age and claiming my state pension. I will be moving over there next year. And In mindanao where you are. Safe flight home.
Glad to see you have kept your sensible head on - all the best to you and tyler - youve worked hard to get where you are today mate and thats from your sheer skills and the fact that you can turn your hand tp anything you try
Wishing you and Tyler ( and Khennah also ) all the very best for the future , maybe down the line you will return . I think you are 100% correct to do the best for Tyler , he is a credit to you Alan . We in internet land will be thinking of you . Take Care and very Best Wishes to all of you.
You and Tyler have had a wicked time. Like you said, memories are priceless. Could Tyler do an apprenticeship or something at Steve's ?? All the best. will be looking forward to your updates.
Follow your dream alan, tyler will grow up and find his path,he will be fine, sometimes as we get older and our kids have grown,as parents,we have to think of ourselves sometimes, you have one shot at life, make it great, and as you rightly say the uk is dead now, make your life in the Philippines and live the dream,i sure know where id rather be.
Nothing sounds far fetched anymore -- we are on a fast track to entering George 0rwells 1984 world - i wouldnt come back here ever as its downhill all the way.
Good luck Alan. I was worried that you would have to look for a rental property, I'm so glad that you don't. Any chance that you could get your old job back?
My previous comment got deleted. Massive respect to you for reversing your life to put your son first, well done. From a selfish point of view I'm really looking forward to your videos back in the garage. I've got relatives in Huntingdon, so I'll pop in again one day. You're spot on regarding housing in the UK. First they have gone for the landlords, next they'll hit the owner occupiers.
Alan I wish you all the very best. You have been braver than many, there are those who dream and those that lived the dream. Well done for giving it a go and who knows at some point you may return to the Philippines. Good luck to you and Tyler. I hope the channel will return to show and reflect your return
Alan Ive loved the Phillipines videos🙏(what an adventure) but missed your videos at Steves, i remember the video when Steve said he would keep a job open for you, i can see this is hurting you but your right your son comes first. Ps Reform are growing fast👍👍
Alan, You are a good honest and a successful man. You always doing your honest best for your son. Never forget the cream always to the top. And you will continue rising to the top throughout your life.
Good morning Alan in a leafly part of Surrey. I'm your age, same age son as and it's always nice to see Tyler featured on your videos. You gave me the confidence to fly to Daveo in mid December for 27 days. Thank you. As for the UK,, it's the worse it could ever be. No standard of living now, & so many lies by the Government. If you are around in December, love to have a beer with you and other half who is Filipino. Personally, you have a better cost of living in the Philippines. I'm afraid the UK has gone down the pan. Beautiful island, but corrupt HRMC, Local Authorities, Energy Companies, PM, Home Sectary, CTax etc etc. For your own health & wellbeing, stay around positive people. UK, is not the UK I know anymore. Alan, Good luck buddy. Stay safe and live that amazing life you are having with you, Tyler and your lovely lady. Duncan..
Best of luck maybe make some you tube videos of Cambridgeshire, youre going to miss the Philippines and khen and crispy 🐔. Tyler is a good lad. Brace youreself for youre return to the uk it's bleak at the moment and we all detest this labour govt.
Well surprised alan !!! I think it's amazing how you think of everyone before yourself...one hell of a dad mate...loved watching your vids & antics!!! Wish you all the best.. PS, couldn't agree more with you concerning the powers that be in UK..
Gutted for you, I found your channel looking for tips re a Mondeo, but you are a good guy and entertaining and I’ve loved watching your story, so don’t shut yourself away, you’ve plenty of followers in here who have a genuine concern for you. Keep your cheery chin up!!
Good video Alan. I haven’t watched as many of your videos as I used to, as I miss your Mondeo & garage videos. You are right about the net zero absolute crap. This Labour government will push everyone over a cliff.
Youl miss Ken and her daughter will ken visit you in uk I suppose she won't be able to with the farm etc , loved you watching you all in the Philippines Alan 👍👌👏
We all have decisions to make in life Alan, it is what it is at the end of the day good luck to you in yours and hope it works out for you , you'll never be stuck for work that's for sure.
In my opinion it would be better to stay out there. You have absolute freedom there, that is also priceless. I'm a 34 year old working class man in the UK and was raised by my single dad since I was 16. So you guys are kind of a situation I can relate to. I haven't done well in adult life, and I know very few people that are doing well. And even those with money and a semi detached house and an audi are not happy. It's miserable here, and since 2019 it's become far worse. UK University Engineering Degree will be full of higher value, more easily employed, Chinese and Indian students. Asia is the future after all. The old way of "get a degree, get a good job, good pension, nice house and a mortgage", it doesn't exist in the same way it did many years ago. I would say sell or let the house and consider other options. What about the potential Philippine links to USA or American firms? And maybe links to Spain, Singapore, Oz or Hong Kong?. There's gotta be options. I get that Tyler feels he's missing out on his life with his UK peers and possibly feels abit out of place with people his age in the Philippines. But things can improve and in a couple of years comparing life to UK peers wont seem so important. And I bet they would love to have a mate over in Asia that has a place they can visit.
Yes the gap year is a great experience you've given him. Yes his university prospects and career are probably in the UK or Europe for mechanical engineering.
Good luck Alan, as other people have said very honest and a great dad ... if you do actually get back on the tools, I would defo make the trip , for your experience , knowledge and professional Attitude ... let me know .... thanks
Alan....sorry about your situation, have followed you for years. I tried twice to move to NZ back in 09 and 11. Regarding Labour and politics.....I and many others agree 100%. Vote Reform going forward....Two Tier Starmer won't last 12months...and Labour won't last 5 years. All the best.
It is a shame that you do have to come back to the uk, however you are coming back for the main reasons. Tyler could actually work within Main Brand car companies which are paying £20+ ph (Production/ Assembly Op) and that requires no experience or qualifications. It would be good for him as the pay is decent but he’s learning and gaining experience. The uk has been crap as the cold weather has came early and hopefully once you are back you can get things sorted. Hopefully you won’t have to get back into a job and hope things do still go well with your partner.
Alan ,,we wish you all the best in your future ,,, youve given Tyler amazing start in his life that you both will allways remember together i understand wer your coming from ( his future) ,,,, take your time returning to yourube ,,, youve given it a try like most of us haven't got the bottle too give it a go but you did,,, all.the best mate ,,, hopefully ill get to meet you one day when your back home anyways all.the best to you & khen tyler and Nicole ❤,,,,,,,,,paulfianatravels
Sometimes we need to put our dreams aside for the ones we love maybe he will settle and your young enough to maybe visit your dream in the future good luck pal
It makes me laugh how they say electric cars are net zero. I love to know with the average UK electricity generation mix what the co2 per km electric cars are per mile compared to say a 1.6 diesel doing 50mpg
You are an honest man, and given your son the best life experience, he is ever going to have well done.Family always comes first.I will miss your vlogs but hopefully continue when back in England
Well said alan, what a rant and well put,. Showing your cards on the table fair play, at the end of the day it’s only a plane ride away, are you getting the spanner’s out again in the uk ? Good luck in the future,.
Said it years ago they would engineer a direction that if you couldn't bring your house to a Net Zero Standard you couldn't sell it and the Government would 'Help' you out by taking it off your hands .
as you said, the time so far with your son has been priceless and for that reason alone seems to have been worth it for you. Also doesnt Tyler seem like the engineering type (Its very heavy on maths and a lot of theory based learning), maybe an apprenticeship to learn a trade would be better suited.
Alan use the open university. There online degrees might be something you can do. I’m doing a degree at the minute through it and it’s amazing. Hopefully you can work it out 👍
