Dear Viewer,
I've been in FULL grind mode since beginning school in August and although it's been a crazy ride, I'm learning so much about myself, the world, and my country. In this video, I give an update on what's life been life behind the seen, update you on some challenges I'm facing, and asking you a few questions to involve you in the discourse (i.e., your perceptions of the US, repatriation, and reengaging with compatriots after living abroad).
New to my channel? Consider subscribing to my channel (if you already haven't) where you'll regularly receive thought-provoking content!
Thanks for watching and for forming a part of this community.
Love,
Chris

Congratulations on getting into Harvard! I'm excited to hear more about your experiences while living in D.C. I was wondering if you'd be interested in teaching German to others and or helping them along for reasonable fees, especially if you plan on returning to Germany at some point. Also, I wanted to say thank you again for making videos! So many of them have been incredibly insightful and helpful. I hope to speak more with you soon. Happy Late Thanksgiving. Have a great afternoon!

I am so happy to see you! Please tell me if Germany was far more kind to you because you could speak their language, or if they are just far less judgemental anyway and more kind towards Queer Black American men in comparison to the US. Thank you my dear and have a great afternoon. I also hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!

Haha omg this is so enjoyable and funny to watch. Enjoyable and funny because I really can connect experiences I've had with what you've mentioned. I went to a top private university for undergrad and boy oh boy talk about forming & shaping us to be directed towards elite professions. And some of my closest friends live in D.C. and echo much of what you mentioned, like drinking culture. I'd also add the need to "network" all the time. I know both of those things exist in other cultures and countries, but the American way of doing it feels a bit more intense at times. I started my masters program in Austria recently and it does feel like a lot ngl, but definitely not a book a week a lot lol. I think much of my own difficulty stems not from the actual courses, but transitioning back into school life after being away for a few years. I'm very interested in hearing what your experiences will be like in D.C./ grad school as well as just your takes on the various cultures of the US of A :)

Hi Alisa!! Thanks so much for watching and your comment!! How’s your master’s going?? What’s it’s like being a master’s student in Austria as an American?

@@jamal93yall you're very welcome! As for my masters, so far it's alright. It's a masters program in English so it's a pretty international class which I enjoy

I got into grad school and moved from Toronto to London! I do think the workload here is incomparable to my undergrad in Canada.

it's so nice seeing you back. great video again. you show us the inside of your daily struggle, what makes your videos so special. I hope you can adjust soon, cause - as you said - it's unhealthy to proceed your life in a hurry 24/7. good, that Germany gave you some tools to handle it. you'll go your way, I'm sure. just make sure you doesn't stumble over your on feet by being restless ;-) keep calm, have a break, breathe deep and than you'll rock it 🙂

Hi Chris - Hang in there with your course work. I just love seeing bright, broad minded brothers pursuing their dreams. You can do it! I would love to know more about why you say the US is the Land of Opportunity. We need some examples. Thanks.

I hear you, it is so hard in grad school to even remember that there is a world outside the university. And my grad school experience was back in the 1980s/90s when things were not as crazy as they are now. I wish you lots of strength to stay sane.

@@jamal93yall absolutely! I can remember the social control among the History grad students (we had a common study room, LOL), everybody watching to see whether the others left the library before it closed;-)) Only then were we allowed to go out for a beer. Ah, fun times.
