Germans don't stare! They look, they watch their surrounding! 😉😅 You are US American, we might be scarred that you pull out a gun to kill us, so we have to watch you!😉 If you want to know what staring is, I have an obvious, unusual handicap, lots of people stare at me here. Let them look, I'm the star, they're just curious because they don't see that often, that's human, that's not a problem for me. It only gets uncomfortable when they stare at me stupidly, with their mouths open and their jaws dropped, and sometimes even run after me. But that rarely happens! I find children on public transport interesting. You can often see pure curiosity in their faces because they've never seen anything like it before. You can talk to them and have interesting conversations. I think that's important sometimes, the children feel that I'm a normal person who they don't have to be afraid of!

Glad you seem to be doing well Chris. Truthfully it's been a minute since I checked you out. That happens with me at times with several blogs so don't take it badly. I'm in, I'm out and it goes like that. Interestingly another blog caught my attention lately by a black Brit who moved to Germany from England not that long ago and now he has a blog on Blacks in Germany. I watched a few videos the other day and found them very interesting The host is actually of African descent and he talks often about comparisons between Germany and England. You've made no secret of that you're gay so you might find this video interesting. It's titled: About Black LGPTQ representation in Germany on the blog: My name is PY. It touches on many topics. Me, I'm still plugging away at German in my own way; I haven't given up so I'll take that as a plus. Thanks for this video. It was interesting. Unfortunately I have had a book for some time and I haven't gotten around to reading it yet: Afropean: Notes from Black Europe.
Ausländer wie Sie sehen wir gerne in Europa. Leider kommen viele, die ganz anders sind. Und das Problem ist, dass man Ausländern gegenüber sehr reserviert ist, wenn man sie nicht näher kennt. Ihr Deutsch ist übrigens super, Sie sollten es nicht vergessen. Btw: one can lose (verlieren)money or one's mind but in this case (language knowledges, names, dates, information, etc. we forget: "vergessen". Mein Schul-Latein habe ich fast gänzlich vergessen. ich glaube, ein paar Dinge hast du nicht so ganz verstanden. z.b. das mit dem Zahnreinigungsgutschein, dem offenen Fenster im Winter und dem "Urlaub" während der Arbeitslosigkeit. Mich wundert aber, dass du das "Rausgehen" und deine Spaziergänge so hervorhebst, als sei es etwas besonderes. Kannst du in den USA doch auch machen.
@@12e_1 Zahnreinigungsgutschein: Hier wird nichts verschenkt. Unsere Krankenkassen haben gewisse Spielräume, in denen sie die Beiträge und Leistungen festlegen können. Bei der einen Kasse sind die Beiträge etwas niedriger, dafür bekommt man keine Zahnreinigung geschenkt. Bei der anderen sind sie etwas höher....dafür gibt es was geschenkt. Ich habe ein Abo für die Zahnreinigung bei meinem Zahnarzt. 4 pro Jahr 150 € Einzeln kostet sie 50. Das geht, weil bei 4 mal im Jahr der Zeitaufwand wesentlich geringer ist. Also immer aufpassen, wenn dir jemand was schenken will..... Fenster: Wenn er das Fenster ständig auf Kipp hat, heizt er die Strasse. Hat er es nur kurz auf Kipp, findet kein Luftausgleich statt. Urlaub während der Arbeitslosigkeit: Das bedeutet nur, dass dir entsprechend deines Alters für jeden Monat ein paar Tage zu stehen, in denen du nicht ständig vom Arbeitsamt irgendwo hingeschickt werden kannst. Wenn du arbeitslos bist kannst du natürlich für 2 Wochen nach Mallorca fahren. Kommt aber in der Zeit ein Stellenangebot und du nimmst es nicht wahr, gibts Ärger. Ausser du hast dir vorher Urlaub genommen. Nichts anderes ist das. In den USA kann man so viel frei machen wie man will (natürlich in Absprache mit dem Arbeitgeber). Man bekommt halt nur für die Zeit keinen Lohn. In Deutschland muss man den Urlaub nicht nehmen. Man kann ihn sich auch ausbezahlen lassen. Ist gehupst wie gehippelt.
Was ich bei Euch nicht verstehe: Wenn bei uns die Bundestagswahl ansteht, dann bekomme ich einen Brief von der Stadt wann die Wahl ist, wie lange ich Briefwahl machen kann und wo ich letztlich 'live' meine Stimme abgeben kann. Das ist dann in der Regel zu Fuß um zwei Ecken zu erreichen, wo in einer Turnhalle oder ähnlichem ein paar Wahlhelfer (manchmal gelangweilt ;-)) sitzen und mir die Wahlzettel aushändigen....Punkt. Und wenn ich das richtig verstanden habe, muss ich mich bei 'Euch' zunächst mal 'registrieren' lassen und dann eventuell noch etliche Kilometer fahren....äh Meilen...dann klingt es nicht so weit ;-)!? Außerdem, laut mancher Medien, werden Wahlberechtigte, vornehmlich aus schwarzen Communities in andere Wahlkreise verschoben, um damit Stimm-Anteile zu manipulieren!? Und dann noch die Geschichte mit den 'Wahlmännern' 🤔!? Für mich klingt das alles nicht so nach Demokratie, sondern mehr nach "Wie halte ich so viel Leute wie möglich vom Wählen ab?" Also Urlaub in USA könnte ich mir vielleicht noch vorstellen. Ein Freund (Afroamerikaner und Busfahrer hier in Deutschland) war kürzlich erst seine Mutter besuchen. Er war froh am Ende wieder 'zuhause' in Deutschland zu sein. Es war ihm mittlerweile zu gefährlich dort....wo jeder (Zitat) Honk mit einer Knarre herumläuft. Also wie gesagt, Urlaub könnte ich mir noch vorstellen, aber dort leben.....näh 😞
Haven't been here for a while now but I have to admit that it's a pleasure to see you again. It's good to know that you're feeling safe. I was worried about that. You're a person of color and you're gay, and I know that the US is a somewhat hostile environment to each of these topics. I like you're idea to stay connected to the German language. But to be honest, I recognized a bit of decline in your ability speaking it. But as I know from experience, if you don't speak a language regularly, you'll lose it. Happened to my English. Not so much in writing, but speaking had become difficult sometimes. Thank you for your new video, Chris. Stay safe.....

About that switching the conversation... WHen I moved into my new apartment I posted a "Steckbreif" on my door a week before I moved in because I am a person of color and knew how Germans treat refugees...I included that I am from the USA and a veild comment about my dog walker coming to take my dog out while I am at work as an english teacher was there to dispell the thoughts many Germans automatically have when they see a dark skinned foreigner. Sad that I feel the need to do that , and even sadder to see how the reception changes when they find out you are from the USA and how they treat others who are indeed refugees.
Yeah when I walk into the restaurant at the country Riding stable where I ride the old people actually break their necks turning to look at me... ANd they do not look away, you feel like you ae walking into a klan meeting ! LOL I try to ignore it but the feeling is real!
I have been living in Germany for 17 years now working at a school. I watch teachers from all countries come and go because Germany puts a person with a Master's degree like you to work teaching babys in a Kita! It is not OK even though you try to "schön reden" ...They never accept peoples qualifications for anything else and if you ever want to be anything else you are right to leave!

As an EU-citizen I think it was really a sad and bad decision the british made .It interfears the normal life of so many young people. dumb decision, based on so many lies, seems that Great Britain became even more an island... but anyway, great vid again, nice to see you back. @@jamal93yall jeez, I don't know. I think, based on nothing but my observations, that a vast chunk of people who feel 'left behind' voted for Brexit - along with a few super wealthy disaster anylacsts. I too was surprised by the vote, but you move in a world of young creatives, and I teach them It had been increasing difficult for people from Asai and the Caribbean to bring in family members. I think they felt voting to leave may have made that easier (I don't think it has - yet another group betrayed by Brexit)
