I’m thankful that your ministry is still going. I enjoyed being a part of the group but hit financial snags and couldn’t stay in. You’re a big inspiration to me and my channel. Thank you brother.
Great video. I can definitely relate to the need to slow down. I remember an elder at my church said that busy stands for bondage under satan’s yoke. Now I didn’t take this statement as a truth. However, just like you mentioned, we have to protect our peace by not saying yes to everything. Great point
I appreciated your thought about questioning the pace of life isn’t necessarily laziness but it can be more of an indictment on our culture’s pace setting expectations. Being busy has certainly become a sign of relevance in our culture, when in reality it’s just demanding all of our attention, and we don’t have adequate attention to give to those things God has called us to be faithful to. I appreciated your “slowing down” section. I have three young kids about the same ages as your three, and I want to be a faithful father for them and not just be busy trying to give them a bunch of stuff they never asked for. Appreciate you sir. May the Lord bless you and keep you.
"I want to be a faithful father for them and not just be busy trying to give them a bunch of stuff they never asked for." MAN, that resonates with me. Right there with you, brother.
Thank you, Reagan, and for your work! I've been a productivity nerd for several years as a Christian. Bringing these two together is amazing. I agree in 2024 we all can slow down, be still, and listen. Even if it means getting up before everyone else or after everyone is sleeping. The Lord os gracious and has woke me up in the early morning hours just to have time with him. I also want to deepen my relationships in 2024.
Glad you've found my content to be blessing! I like the way you put that, sometimes slowing down might mean waking up earlier. Sometimes we think slowing down = laziness, but slowing down is often the hardest work there is.
I guess my question is: how do you plan on slowing down? What does that practically, day to day look like for your life? I think to myself that as the years go by you actually get busier. More kids, more responsibility, etc. So I’m which particular ways do you plan on actually making your goal to slow down a reality? I ask because it’s something I want to do but I see as an impossible task because the demands of work and life don’t slow down even though I want to.
Great question. I actually had a longer segment with more details that I ended up cutting out as the video was getting longer. And I felt a little weird committing this to video. But basically for me it boils down to saying "no" to most opportunities. In the last couple of years I've really felt the limits on my time and energy stretched. That's really forced me to reckon with getting hyper clear on my priorities, "what does faithfulness in this season look like?" And the hard pill to swallow is that that means that I need to say no to most things, and do so confidently regardless of expectations of others (whether real or imagined). I'm definitely still busy-I think that's unavoidable with having little kids. But I'm doing my best to not have so many commitments that I'm rushing from thing to thing. I always liked that Jim Elliott quote, "whoever you are, be all there." That's the kind of slowing down I'm after; having few enough commitments that I can be fully present with the task at hand.
