I have been using the light phone for almost two years and I was really looking forward to an upgraded model. I'm a little disappointed because they got rid of the eink and they added a camera. I understand that the camera is for functionality and to capture the moment, but it's so easy to get distracted by scrolling through the photo album feature, which I ultimately don't like. The eink created such a mindful experience with the phone. The price is a no go for me - $400 USD is $650 Canadian, which is outrageous. I ended up purchasing the Hisense HiReader Pro which doesn't have a camera, but it's eink with a fast processor and you can delete apps that you don't want to have with you all the time.
I completely did away with social media because it really does become an addiction. All I have is RU-vid, and I have to control how much time I spend watching you tube.
I like the 3, if you are going to carry a tool it might as well be a multi tool. Tools don’t consume time which is why they chose the feature set of this phone. I’m looking forward to going simpler and hopefully there are people in this world that recognize the value in it also so I can talk to them because no one talks when they all have smart phones.
I can totally relate with the feeling less busy. I notice it too. Sometimes we are so "busy" from consuming so much information daily. It causes unnecessary anxiety. I never understood why until now that you've mentioned it. When you stop consuming social media info, your mind actually does feel lighter and less "busy". Almost like a heavy weight has been lifted off your shoulders.
Great video. New sub. I love that we are talking about this. And busyness also eats your time. Before you know it years go by and you haven't done much for the kingdom but everything for a man made company that isn't even yours.
This is a brilliant video by the way. Clear explanation, valid biblical points and a nice visual with the added visual clips here and there. Thank you so much for the time and work you put into creating this video. Thank you.
I am an atheist but I truly respect religions and beliefs, and this video is totally reasonable and true. Thanks for sharing this, I appreciate it a lot. I quit social media too a few weeks ago and it has been liberating. Cheers from Chile, Southamerica.
God bless you. I have close to 100K followers across my social media accounts and I only share Christian content but I realize how addictive these apps can be. Almost like a drug, you start focusing on how to get views. Instead of being thankful if you even touch one person. I looked at my online colleagues with bigger pages than mine and they are soooo addicted to the app. They can't put their phone down for 1 hour and that's why they keep continuing to grow on their social media. That's what the companies want. They want you to be focused on it all day. I finally decided I don't want to be apart of that cult like behaviour. I don't want to idol these apps. The only social media i will be using is RU-vid because I love it here. It's different.
Thanks for this video. As a JW I agree totally on your scriptural view of wasting time on social media and the lack of benefits it brings to your self esteem. Thanks for highlighting those scriptures. I've re-opened my Instagram account in March and I'm considering deleting it as it has brought me some degree of anxiety and distraction. We are living in the last days and it would be a real shame dedicating a lot of time to the addiction of social media
Just found this video sorry I’m a rad late to the party. I have had LP2 since September 2022. That is also the day I deleted all social media except for RU-vid and it has been great. I don’t even have a smart phone anymore. Since starting this journey I have lost 60lbs, gained lots of healthy mental health. Managed to push bilateral inguinal hernias 😮 with all this free time and should be having surgery soon. And couldn’t be happier in my 16year marriage. Going dumb phone was was the smartest thing I have done on years.

I wouldn’t mind buying something like that. But I think the price is way too high. Maybe knock $200 off it. I get that they are catering to a niche and need to make a profit but… man.
I think the lightphone 4 will finally do it for me then... hopefully with a mostly offline and really well working ai assistant, amazing speaker and battery life, while kinda looking like this still. Or maybe this is already the lightphone 3? Cant wait for the first real test.
I love the idea, but for work I have need for paging and authentication apps. Those look like they wouldn't work on this. (Even for personal, "auth" apps are starting to become more necessary for MFA security.)
Just imagine all the people sitting at their desks looking at Tik Tok. The phones cameras are pointed directly at your documents, computer screens, spec sheets and prints. A.I. is devouring the info. This is why I love the Ligthphone 2 since it's so basic.
One day when the light phone 7 is out it will finally become the wisephone😂. Why not just buy a wisephone to begin with which is releasing very soon, n has all this stuff, n spotify, google maps, but none of the distracting stuff, n its probably half the price.
I wish they would let you choose the needed apps at purchase and then allow you to stay with that. Like me i need google maps, instacart the shopper app to make money i want no social media of course and lyft and or uber. I also need the buss app
i think for the price they think now as Apple or LV. The more it's pricey the more people think it's worth it and want it because it's even more "luxurious". The problem is that Light is not enough popular to do such thing I agree that the price is a bit too much. 300$ was already enough
I'd easily pay $800 if it had all the capabilities necessary to survive like international text/calling app, rideshare option, easier gps, music streaming without having to spend hours looking up each individual song on the website, QR codes and tickets/mobile pay.
Very tempting. How is the storage for pictures managed? And did you say GPS? Because that’s important. Definitely will be following for more information.
The point of these $50 dumbphones is to buy it once and forget about it. This phone "wants" to be a dumbphone, but it also wants to be thought as the "Apple of dumbphones" (especially with this price tag), which kinda defeats the purpose of buying a dumbphone: this phone injects vapid materialism in a world conceptually antithetical to this very notion.
The design is awesome. I love small phones. But... I wish it was an Android skin instead of its own OS. This is a dealbreaker. I understand what they're trying to achieve, but it's nearly impossible for them to create all the essential 3rd-party apps and services that you personally might need. I have an hour of screen time on my phone already, I'm not addicted to my phone or anything, but this kind of phone would not allow me to use services that I'm used to (like my favorite podcast app, for example or Spotify, stuff like that). I think smaller screen already limits what it can do for people who need to limits themselves, but I personally just want a smaller phone and I think it looks cute. On the other hand, 1800 mAh battery in Android phone would've been a disaster.
Maybe also in the West with smaller families and automation we have more time alone. Bigger families, who work together around the home or in their activities, have that ability to create fun in the simplest of things, like doing the dishes or tending the garden with a range of different ages. Smaller families tend to be focused on a smaller age range of children and it's easy to experience dear air time.
It sounds perfect for what I want from a phone. It doesn't the things that make phones so addictive (color, unnecessary apps, personalization, notifications). I'm definitely going to pre-oder one <3
