I sure hope that as these kids got older, they realized that they were some of the very few youngsters who were able to work with the greatest comedic actress of all time and what a blessing that was.
I absolutely love Lucy and Gale Gordon together. They are hilarious and had amazing chemistry together on screen. Ever since The Lucy Show, Here's Lucy and then this show. Although this show flopped I still think they were great together 😂😂
what a terrible shame that this interesting show got cancelled after just 12 episodes!!! this show wouldve been so good if it lasted at the very least one year!!!
The casting of Gale Gordon was one of the few redeeming qualities of the show. Fun fact: he was the first choice to play Fred Mertz on I Love Lucy, but he was unavailable due to scheduling conflicts. That’s a shame because he would have been awesome as Fred, and he and Lucy had such great chemistry. Even though he was 80 when this was made, he was still as sharp as a tack and his comedic timing was largely intact. The back and forth between him and Lucy were definitely the best parts Of this otherwise mediocre sitcom.
The problem with this show was that they hired the I Love Lucy writers who wrote physical comedy.,.Lucy was 75 years old .It could've been saved with fresh 1970s tv show writing team.
I found it odd that they made her character a health nut for some reason. Would've been more believable if she weren't constantly beating the drum about it Once you hit your 70s it doesn't matter anymore. It's about enjoying what time you have left with cheeseburgers and ice cream
The thing about all the "Lucy" shows, is that they were always a copy of a copy of a copy. "I Love Lucy" being the original copy, and then the other ones to follow. And all getting a bit inferior as they went along, and "Life With Lucy" being the absolute worst. I think at this point, Lucy needed to become more of a supportive character, instead of having the plot centered around her. She was at an age here where people aren't really interested in what an old lady is doing during the day. Each show got worse as time went on, relying on old/played-out jokes and gags that couldn't keep up with the times. She never really outgrew her original character or stretched her acting chops: she was forever "Lucy Ricardo", trapped in 1951. "Life With Lucy" was an idea that should've been left on the cutting-room floor: her heart wasn't in it, anyway, because Desi was dying at the time. At some point as a Hollywood actor, you have to hang it up and realize you've had your time already: you're too old and/or washed-up. LET IT GO!
@@francklehen7206 it’s bad enough to know in its present form. It could not have lasted a full season. And after. 8 episodes it was cancelled. They never even bothered to air the remaining 5
Geez, the original writers and director of I Love Lucy. Sorry, but they were a few years too late. They should've left it to ones like Bob and Howard Bendetson instead and have directing duties done by Don Corvan or Christine Ballard.
This was the time of Golden Girls and it may have succeeded if it had a more contemporary feeling to it. Or maybe it could have predated Everybody Loves Raymond; it has the right cast outline. As it is, the show is perfectly enjoyable, just old-fashioned. I love the theme song.
According to the culture man's parents stay with their son and his family not woman's parents. Many women don't get along with the mothers and many mothers or parents won't want to live with their son in laws. ❤❤
