Here is my review of the manually activated CO2 PFD ( personal floatation device ) I use for fishing and boating. Life jackets are an essential part of your sea safety and are now lightweight and very compact. This is the KRU XF ISO Manual. Here is a link where you can get them - www.wetsuitout...

My wife and I have this type too, but without the crotch strap which would've been a good addition to the design. I can't figure why they would leave the strap out because it's probably the best way to prevent slippage. The ones we have are serviceable with the factory permission. The gas cylinders have to be replaced yearly. They are designed to keep your head face up so that you can't drown if your knocked out ( this way, you wont see the sharks eating you ). Another great video John.Keep up the good work mate.
@thefishlockerworkshop

Nomad - That does sound very odd about not having a crotch strap? If you enter the water from any height surely you’ll just slip straight out the bottom of it? Anyway, good on you both for wearing them. A lot of folks don’t and really should. 😊👍🏻

@@ryanwoodger6775 Cheers Roger (lol). However, There is nowhere to attach anything to the back of these, It's like a mesh high back support. Hard to explain really, but didn't know you could buy them. Wondering why the shop didn't say anything if it seems that dangerous, which is does to me. I will be writing to the company for an explanation. Cheers mate. just took a second look and it would have to be a specialised strap in two parts. Interested now on what the shop is selling for it.

I spend fair bit time on Scuba Dive boats in UK. On not one will you see the crew even get on the boat without putting a PFD before they even board. Really good idea to post this on your channel. Fair few RU-vid channels dont...and they should.

Excellent advice John. I don't get out fishing much due to health issues, but I had thought about one of these in case I get chance to fish some rock marks later in the year. Especially appropiate for me as I'm good at sinking, but never mastered swimming! I only realised you had started up an additional channel today ( instantly subscribed!) so now I've just got to figure out which of the videos I've seen on the Fishlocker, and which are new! Best wishes mate!

As a former Shipping Master who conducted marine Death Enquiries and subsequently as Registrar General who registered deaths at sea, I know the importance of keeping as safe afloat as possible. I used to try to convince fishermen’s wives to persuade their husbands to wear PFD’s. I make it an absolute rule that everyone on my little Shetland wears a life jacket at all times. Unlike JL I prefer an automatic, because it will inflate should the wearer be knocked unconscious while going overboard.
@thefishlockerworkshop
@thefishlockerworkshop 2 года назад
I advise anyone to do the same. Auto or manual is down to the choice of the wearer and the tasks you are to be completing. For what I do and what I want, manual over auto. But for others an auto would suit better. 👍🏻

Shore fish two maybe three times a year. Only takes one rogue wave near miss for a reality check. The marks I fish if you hit the water you’re hitting rocks too so automatic is my go to.( and once you’ve bought one you’d be daft not to wear on every occasion👍

Just bought one and at 50 quid with a 5 year warranty from the link given. Slightly confused with the MCA requirements that state both a lifejacket and a pfd (unless risk assessment eliminates risk of going overboard) but that's another story. Been enjoying the videos for a few months now.

The RNLI community safety advisors will inspect your life jackets for free, Useless unless worn A lot of PFDs don’t come with a crotch strap, this is a important feature as it will stop it rising up. Personally I carry a day/ night flare on the waist band of mine.

Hi John, I am looking for a lifejacket for use when fishing and paddle boarding. Can you tell me if this lifejacket can be inflated a little via the mouthpiece as I wouldn’t want to inflate it via the toggle every time I fall in while paddle boarding. Hoping I can make do with one jacket to cover both pastimes rather than buying two. Many Thanks Tony

I'm a huge fan of this channel, you know that... but just a quick constructive criticism: I have no idea if this company contacted you, or sent you their product for you to review, but if thats the case, you should really announce that in the video right off the bat. I've seen too many really great channels go from honest, genuine content, to non-stop product shilling in a matter of weeks. I know it can be super compelling to get some extra income, but in the long run, you end up losing credibility and viewers when that happens. Also, if you haven't been paid to review, you should say that too, just so people know where you stand on whatever you're talking about in your video. So... still a huge fan, keep up the great content.
@thefishlockerworkshop
@thefishlockerworkshop 4 года назад
I leave mean comments - I can whole heartedly assure you that we bought these and I have had mine since before we started doing the channel. I searched around for where I could find this jacket for best price and posted the link as a service to our viewers. The only income we have from these videos is the ad revenue and as of right now we aren’t even receiving any of that. If I have something gifted - like the Akios reel. I say so. As of right now we have not been paid to promote anything. And you would not believe some of the things ( and offers ) we have turned down.
