Good morning from our farm in New Hampshire. Thanks for this video. New Hampshire has 13 miles of Atlantic coastline. There is some good fishing. The Bluefish run rich along the shoreline, but I refuse to fish for anything that requires a steel leader. I'm a girl and an artist. The thought of wounding fingers is forefront. So my friends share their Bluefish catch with me. Not everyone likes it. I will partake if the fish is fresher than two days and has that dark strip removed. Then its on the grille and brilliant! Same for mackerel. I used to enjoy grilled shark, but we no longer eat shark or any dense fish ( mercury) So yellow fin or small tuna is ok for me. We enjoyed all fish when I was young. My Gram would go to the fish market and purchase a 10lb whole Haddock to bake. Also a good amount of lovely shucked oysters for oyster stew. Thanks again for taking us along for shore fishing! We live in the Central Lakes Region, less than two hours from the 🌊 ocean. We shut down our 350 acre farm in March 2020 to the public because of the virus and continue to be shut down, only open for customers > Hereford breeding stock > hay > logging. My Jim & I bought a small camper last summer and actually made it to the beaches ⛵⛵ in Rye/Portsmouth and North Hampton for ran overnight. It was balmy late September and wonderful! If you have an email address I would be happy to send you photos of our farm and coastline. ~ Diane
@TheFishLocker
@TheFishLocker 2 года назад
Hi Diane, that sounds very sensible regarding the Bluefish. A 10lb Haddock!!!!!! Wow. I have never seen one that big, the biggest I have ever caught was 5lb. I would love the opportunity to own some acreage. Here in the Uk though plain arable of wooded land goes for around £18,000 an acre. 🤷🏻‍♂️
@dianehall5345
@dianehall5345 2 года назад
Yes, grilled fresh Bluefish is amazing! I also like smoked Bluefish. I struggled with the cost of living in the UK. By far, land is more reasonable here, depending where you look. Maine has a vast coastline and is a wonderful state. I would be looking there if I wanted to be near the ocean. Lots and lots of lobstermen!

I love the care you take when unhooking and returning fish. Also nipping down your barbs and replacing trebles with single hooks where practical. It's not only kinder on the fish, but easier to unhook them. And if you've ever stuck yourself with a barbed hook, easier to unhook yourself too.

@TheFishLocker
@TheFishLocker 3 года назад
- When fishing a lure on a weedless hook you may still snag up if the line goes down a crevice in between 2 rocks but it does cut it down considerably. There are links in the description for the hooks. 😊🎣
@robbieallan6522
@robbieallan6522 2 года назад
I often use soft rubber lures they are like a sandeel but with a curled red tail and I'll either put them on a jig head hook to save time or I'll just have them on a size 1 hook with about 3ft of line then a swivel and a 1oz barrel lead, I've been out using the latter and caught plenty of Pollack without having to change lures at all but some days go perfect other days I've gone snagged and lost gear on nearly every cast but it would be no fun if it was easy all the time hence the name fishing and not catching lol

My favourite channel on RU-vid, you don't know what a life saver to me you and Fish Locker family have become. I had an accident 9 weeks ago and remain in hospital, so when it's tough for me, you are a real comfort to watch, the St Michaels Mount video was a blessing. x

Never ever stop learning from your videos, from the programmes you use to locate areas to fish to the amount of prep you do. You also demonstrate the type of rigs you use and then go further by catching two of the most beautifully coloured wrasse I've ever seen. Great filming and as always thanks for posting.

The wrasse were special John, the colours even more so, I like the idea of putting lures into individual tubes as it prevents a treble hook nightmare, in the past I've hooked them on the inside of a bucket but as you say if it falls over you have lures all over the place, I'll have to come round to your way of doing things for a simpler life!! I use the I-Boating site for my recce homework which is similar to the Navionics chart viewer, I think they're indispensable for finding depths & potential places to fish, as ever great work!!

That's a great little mark. Good shout on the random wave thing. Father got 4 stitches in his leg at that exact mark after getting washed off back into a gully shore side. I was just a teenager then. First time I ever heard mother swear at Dad 😂

Extremely informative as always. I am an old farmer who has worn Wellingtons all his life (including through Australian and Portuguese summers) never boots, but the way you are so sure-footed on wet rocks makes me jealous. Do you have a favourite brand of Wellie, use studs of any sort, or just confident of keeping your grip?
@TheFishLocker
@TheFishLocker 3 года назад
- Haha. No mate, these cost me about £5 from the local garden centre. I end up wearing the treads out I wear them so often. We grew up in wellies out in the woods or on the beach. 😊
@alanmcdonald4423
@alanmcdonald4423 3 года назад
@@TheFishLocker Thanks. I buy cheap Portuguese made ones. I cannot see the point in paying a lot of money for any sort of wellie when you know you are going to wear them out in a matter of months. A little story - I have heard they were invented in Portugal. The Battle of Buçaco was the first time Napoleon's troops were beaten in Iberia. Rumour has it that Wellington had our lads kitted out with his own type of "wellie" whilst the French had the usual boots. It is very damp and slippery on the slopes around Buçaco.
