Another cool trick is when u approach your exit break your paddle in half and use it like snow ski poles you can damn near push uo on the bank and easily speed through swampy crap!
Before getting out, use a carbiner clip with 20 feet or so of thin rope/paracord attached to the middle grab handle. Throw the rope onshore. This is in case the kayak gets pushed away as you get out. You can grab the rope and stop the kayak.
I used a similar net that u have butt had the same prob lem lil to long. I got a collapsible by fraybill it is about 11/2feet when folded and plenty big and can be extended easily made a huge difference
