I am an Anglican and met this hymn for the first time last week when on holiday in Boston. We sang it at the end of the service at Trinity Church. It is a cracking tune on the organ there as it can fill the church with sound. Got caught up in singing it and really enjoyed a good way to end the service.
I live in Boston and attend Trinity Church. We sang this as the closing hymn this morning. It was my first time hearing and experiencing this in worship. The organ and the voices filled the room!
I listen to this in the morning and in the evening before and after work. I wish I could count the times I watched this. A truely inspiring version of the great hymn.
You don't have to be African American to love this hymn. I hope you don't mind saying that we sang it at my church after the First Gulf War and a white member asked why he'd never heard it before. I know this hymn belongs to the African American community, but great music has a way of becoming universal.
Beautiful Hymn, played fabulously! Love your phrasing and registartion changes. You are a very talented young organist. Thanks for sharing your gift for all of us on RU-vid! Please keep posting.**********
Wonderful. For the past several years on MLK Day, I've played this video and read some of Rev. Dr. King's sermons. Here is a prayer that we might "sing with the harmony of unity." God, grant us enough grace to lift our voices together in peace.
We sung it at the end of the Ordination and Consecration of Bishop Russell Kendrick of the Dioceses of the Central Gulf Coast on this past weekend Saturday.
I love this! My worship and music style is "traditional Roman Catholic"...I would definitely consider this a REAL hymn...nothing like "On Eagle's Wings" or anything like that *coughtripecough*...this is WONDERFUL! I'd love to play this!
I found this video as a search for God of Grace about a week ago. I listen to this over and over again, your playing of this wonderful Hymn is inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing. I look forward to more videos. But this one will always remain my favorite. Can we see your face so we can identify the oraganist with the playing. Thanks. You are the best on RU-vid.
You gots skills...I hear how you add volume and then slow with soft sounds...have you ever played the hammond organ...personally, i want someone to connect the hammond organ to pipes...of course, it wouldn't sound like a hammond per se...but, just one of my thoughts.
