Gearboxes are always amazing. You can lift tons of loads with them. In this video i made a 3d printed gearbox and showed advantages of them and for that i used 3d printed PLA herringbone gears.
Finally that little dc motor lifts 58kg/128 lb at 125:1 gear ratio(reduction).

Try using round shafts in your bearings, you are losing a lot of power and rigidity with those square beams which look like they are a loose fit for the bearings.

What would happen if you added additional parts of line. It looks like your problems were of structural nature rather than pull strength, but adding additional parts of line could reduce the line tension and resolve your line breaking issues.

So adding gears, decreases speed and increases torque. How does it affect the speed of the motor? I think because the load is increasing with all the gears it should be harder? Please educate me if I'm wrong
@indrapratama7668

Torque-focused gearing actually places the least strain on the motor. Speed-focused gearing is what wears down the motor.

It's really interesting this design. Would you think we could reuse the energy putting a generator (dynamo) in the same part where the object its lifted in order to reuse the energy, or will be more interesting to recuperate the energy from the first and littlest gear. I hope its clear my question, thanks a lot.

Would this little motor draw the same amount of energy and power to lift that weight vs using just a motor designed to lift that weight? what are the energy usage comparison
@purpleomlet
@purpleomlet Год назад
The smaller motor would use less energy. It will only ever be under ~2kg of stress before it gives up. The energy used by the motor never increases since it's not the component that's doing the heavy lifting. A larger motor with the capacity to pull ~58kg would need to be made of stronger materials which would be heavier and use more energy to move. I may be completely in the wrong about this, but I'm fairly certain that's right.

You can see the center bearing supprt deflect down under load. If you supported the bar that bearing is on, or shimmed the center bearing up by an amount thats just a little less than the deflection (so its level under a load) you may be able to slide past 60kg

That calculation is just theoretical. In practically, we don’t get never 100% efficiency. Maybe the efficiency of that gears are 80-90% in industry but in this setup(3D printed etc.) the efficiency is always too low. There are a lot of things change the efficiency.
