Hello my dear friends🙂
In this episode I started lifting heavy logs using a system I saw on Erik Grankvist's channel. Erik is a great inspiration for me.
I've made two more rows of logs since the last episode so a total of 8 rows of logs are done and I still have another 4-5 rows of logs to go. In the small house, I moved the bed down because it was too warm upstairs. In the next episode I will be building the front porch on the small dock and continuing on the walls of the main cabin.
Thank you all for the positive comments. I appreciate it very much. I would also appreciate a lot if you can support my channel by subscribing!
If you want additional information for the video, you can turn on optional subtitles in the video.
Enjoy🌲

More about me:
When I was 20 years old, I dropped out of college and said to myself that I will do what I really want and what I see meaning in. So I decided to build my dream log cabin, all by myself, in the middle of an off-grid bush.
After I left school, I went to work for a while to earn money for trees and hand tools. I spent all the money I earned and my savings on it. Thank God, I already owned the land I have - I got it from my dear parents as a gift and I also bought another part of the land with my own money.
I chose a log cabin for my home because I like it. I build it with the vision of living a simple and peaceful life in it. Having time is more important to me than having money. Of course, nowadays a person cannot live without money, but I would like to live in such a way that my expenses are not so high and thus reduce the need for money. I want to have time not only for myself, but also for my future wife and children. That's why I will try to build the most self-sufficient life possible, in which my own housing, in my case a log cabin, will be the heart of this system.
I use hand tools because they are my favorite. There is beauty in simplicity.
Working with hand tools has several advantages: You are able to work off-grid, the entire set of tools you need can fit in one bag, there is better safety when you work alone, you don´t make too much noise when you´re working... so I enjoy it more and I believe you will too, while watching :)
Sometimes you will still see me use power tools for some things where I can't avoid it completely, such as drilling through metal roofing or welding, but otherwise I will always try to use primarily hand tools.
My dear father is a carpenter. I remember that most of the things he taught me while working with wood were precisely while working with hand tools, which required the most attention and practice from me.
My father taught me how to work with wood from a young age, but I have no experience with building a log cabin, so I'm learning everything as I go, and I'm looking forward to what this experience will teach me.
It may not seem like it, but it was a big struggle to get this opportunity to be able to work on my dream, but I finally did it and for that I am incredibly grateful. I also started this RU-vid channel where I share my entire journey, so if you are interested, you can check it out. There is no one behind the camera, so I do all the filming and editing myself. I would also be very grateful if you would support my journey by subscribing or sharing, if you want to.
Thank you for being here, I really appreciate it and I'm glad you're watching. I will try to make videos as best as I can, so that you get the greatest enjoyment from them.
Thank you all for your attention. Enjoy!

Watching a craftsmen work is quite in mesmerising! Tell me does the moss chinking shrink back as it dries out? You don’t seem to mind working outside in all weathers, you certainly had plenty of wet weather to contend with in this episode. It’s quite amazing just how inventive you are when it comes to moving the logs from their original pile, as the saying goes “ necessity is the mother of invention “ certainly the case here! Hopefully the weather will be kinder to you in the next video. Less rain and not too warm as it’s such physical work.❤

Along with the porch, in the next video you might also want start working on the doorway, as it should definitely make getting in and out easier along with all the materials and tools you lug in and out of there. Great job on the cabin so far, and I'm definitely looking forward to more videos, as well as what you might accomplish when this project is "finished." (I am more than aware that change is a part of human nature, so "finished" and "done" I believe are separate in projects like these.)

When you first built your bed my thought was thats going to be hot up there guess i was right lol Being Canadian I was happy to see your scribe tool was made in Canada. You are doing a awesome job young man. I have watched all of Eriks videos he is also a very talented young man

The hewing itself only takes half a day so I am able to hew two logs in one day. This is also the way I work - I'm working on two logs at the same time. But it is necessary to take into account that there is still a lot of other work before this: choosing the right log, the second peeling, scribing, measuring, setting up, constant calibration of the scriber. Later, I treat the logs, drill holes, add moss... And I also film all of that, which also takes a lot of time. In the end, it turns out that I manage to make roughly 2 logs in six days, so 2 whole rows in about 3 weeks. Even if it takes longer, I still enjoy it a lot and I'm happy to share it with you :)

I hope you Replace ten times the trees you logged, to make up the hundreds of years it will take for them to grow to a healthy mature age. Too many trees logged down for one single human enterprise. I live in a metal shed, insulated and surrounded by ponderosa pine trees, some estimated at least 250 year olds. They deserve be left alone and I love them as they stand. You can't beat the sound of the wind going through them at night. Priceless.
