When I was 20 years old, I dropped out of college and said to myself that I will do what I really want and what I see the meaning in. So I decided to build my dream log cabin, all by myself. I chose the traditional method - using only hand tools. My father taught me how to work with wood from a young age, but I have no experience with building a log cabin, so I'm learning everything as I go, and I'm looking forward to what this experience will teach me. I also started this RU-vid channel where I share my entire journey, so if you are interested, you can check it out. There is no one behind the camera, so I do the filming and editing myself. I would also very much appreciate if you would support my journey by subscribing or sharing, if you want to. Here I'm sharing my journey with you. Thank you all for your attention. Enjoy!
My PayPal E-mail for channel support: for.matthias.cabin@gmail.com All the money that will be donated through PayPal will be invested back into the cabin.
I am a retired log builder. I appreciate your determination and skill, but you could cut your risk of injury and increase your productivity immensely with power tools. My first cabin was very similar in size and scope. I set up a gin pole to lift logs overhead to and from a safe workspace. The gin pole uses worm drive cable winches, one for the boom, a second for the load. The winches can be hand cranked or powered with a driver chucked in a big drill, the same drill used for boring. All this can be powered with a quiet Honda generator. A chainsaw set up for log building and proper technique will increase quality and productivity tenfold. Including the scribing I can fit a 30’ log in an hour as tight as Tupperware. If nothing else look into the gin pole, it will set you free!
Due to My disability I would have to build me one like yours a little more larger so My walker and wheelchair would be usable for me and I will have indoor crapper and shower cuz this Southern belle ain't about to hang her moon out in the freezing weather 😂😂😂❤❤❤

Hello Matthias! Beautiful work! I would say the Freemason who got his wee-wee wacked is asking too much and he keeps adding onto the project. That’s rude. Plus, building without power tools is a nuisance. They’re superstitious. Let Matthias finish and go!

So Young and with so many skills , You are an example for all youth men for all boys , in this days of laysiness of earning a quick and easy money thrue not onest and hard worck but thrue other wicked ways You Man are a example for all youth Young and mature men !
Jovem voce é tao incrivel no que faz,amo te assistir ,voce e tao quanto admirável como o The Bearded Carpenter..voces sao formidáveis..saudações do Brasil
Glad you mentioned the work boots!! Flip Flops would not be my choice of footwear when moving around 90 kg logs!! Although I do wear Crocs in my forge quite often!!
Incredible job! I had to subscribe after you generously showcased your amazing craftsmanship. I'm curious how many days or hours it took to build the small cabin? I realized after watching that subtitles were not on so hopefully I didnt miss that information.
A job well done Matthias, well done! You are a very thoughtful and patient carpenter, that much is obvious, your full-size cabin will be an absolute masterpiece of craftmanship and functionality. There are times when I wish I were your age (knowing what I know now.) so I could do projects like what you're doing now. Keep up the good work, I'm certain I'm not the only one who can't wait to see your project completed!
I'm seeing no wood glue being used, and the sink being held from below has always let me wondering about its structural integr- ignore that, what an astounding job. Come to think it's only a temporary shed for you to work fully on the log cabin! I can only wonder about how that cabin will end up looking like. Congrats!
De France ,, ohhh j'en regarde pas mal de vidéos de construction de chalet , mais la je dois te félicité .. C'est la première fois que je vois des raccords de rondin aussi bien fait.. Bravo a toi et bonne continuation...
