I do love how it looks,. Just got 3.2 5cylinder and and plan on doing some radical changes. Just want it to be better than mpv stats.

looking tough dude. I've got the OEM side steps on mine here in the UK and they are super solid for side protection. Not rock sliders by anymeans but def good to know they are there and the make the truck look extra solid imo.

When I change my rear shocks I couldn’t get them off either I put a pipe wrench on the shaft of the old ones to get it off with an impact. New ones I did “right” of course.

Looking good Bern! I would definitely go with the stiffer/newer coil springs in back, you'll 'feel' the road more, but it will handle better in curves and off road as well as potentially gaining you a bit of clearance. Just looking around a bit I would be thinking Moog coil springs and Bilstein B6 Performance shocks in the rear to accompany your spacers.
@BernonCars
@BernonCars 2 года назад
Ahh, thank you! I'd love to get more height in the rear for sure. I'll see how it goes, I've come up with some ideas over the past few days

Try installing the subframe spacers in the rear! I didn't use them because I didn't want extra lift back there, but until you get your strut sorted it may get you closer too the look you are going for. Remember the design of the rear subframe means those rear spacers should actually lift it whereas the front just drops the subframe. My rear shock gave me the same trouble (it just free spun). Turns out the nut was seized to the male threaded section of the top of the shaft (where that Torx holds). The male threaded area is actually a separate part (the shaft is hollow) which had broken apart from the rest of the shaft which allowed the top nut to spin. I think that part was threaded/loctited into the shaft but I don't recall anymore. All that to say, if you do get it apart you may need new rear shocks... The good news is you can put everything else back together and just slide the new shock in from below when it arrives. That's what we did.

I’ll do that!! Might as well since I have them haha. Oh jeez. Yeah, same exact issue as me.

I didn't see the actual install for the rear spring spacers. We're currently doing this, but having difficulty figuring how they all sit together.

Keep the front subframe bushings. They help your axle angle. Removing them won't get you higher. Your height is limited by the shock spacer. Spacer are 2" so even though you have 1" subframe spacers, you're still only 2" higher. You took measurements before, compare them to what you have now.
@BernonCars

Ohh I see. Same situation for the rear? If I ever get that taken care of lol

Great truck , but sorry to say , the rear spacers go at the bottom of suspension. Not the top, i found out through a 2017 thread. p.s. im building a 06 d5 overland version. My c.country lift should be on by xmas. Thanks

Great video man! I just finished installing mine. Went with bilstein b6 struts all around and new springs. I’ve got the subframe spacers all installed along with the puck lifts and it looks sick, but I have to ask- did you have problems with the subframe spacers? I was able to get my holes to line up with the bolts, but it is nowhere near perfectly aligned like the factory bolts because of the spacers. I’d like to know if you just placed the subframe spacers in and zipped the bolts down, or if you took 10 hours of ripping out your hair trying to align all 4 just right.
@BernonCars

Thank you! Ahh yeah I wish I went with those struts myself. Yeahh those were a pain in the ass to line up but I think I got em all aligned haha. Required a lotta booze LOL

What kind of spacers are you running? I know you mentioned 30mm with 67.1 center bore. I'm looking for spacers for my xc90 as well. Also do 30mm spacers make the wheels flush with the fender lines?

I found them on eBay after weeks of searching. I’ll try to post the link, but it was a pain in the ass to find haha. They do make the wheels flush, my front tires stick out a tiny bit after putting 265’s, but I dig the look

Also look into changing your front parking lights from amber, to a set of white LEDs. It really brings a facelift to the front end, while maintaining legal road requirements. (If you're interested of course)
