Thanks for making these great instructional videos! I haven't tied for several years. This was a great refresher!

Spinning the Bobbin is a really great tip. I always have the problem with the thread jumping forward.

One of the very first dry flies I learned to tie, that and the Quill Gordon.- I learned about fly durability or lack there of in my early fly tying with the Quill Gordon.I learned that a little super glue on the sank side down of the peacock quill would make the fly much more durable and last for at least a good dozen or two of browns and Bookies vs one or two fish with out. Fly tying is much easier today than it was when I started in 1964, better tools hooks materials, Hoffman and Metz did us huge favors with the feathers we can buy today. And then there is RU-vid, you can get all kinds of good tricks and techniques to add to your bag of tricks at the vise. Rods Reels flylines and leaders and tippets, We are in a golden age.

👌💯 Grew up in Northern NJ learned to fly fish in Catskills when a teenager thru my twenties. Cahills, Hendricksons, Quill Gordon's were our go to dry flys.

My favorite instructional videos are just like this one. Information that is clear, concise and full of useful tips. This video addressed at least three concepts I've struggled with as a new fly tyer. I hope to find more of your videos. Now I have to wait patiently all day just to get to my vise to try these techniques. Thanks a million.

Beautiful pattern, really enjoy tying this type of dry fly as I personally believe it is what true dry fly fishing is all about

My problem is separating the wings with X's. I've been leaving the wood duck as a parachute and allowing a closer blend with the hackle. It's been catching trout.

Love the instructional videos. What do you use to cut your thread when finished? It looks a lot smoother than using scissors.

Old video but i couldnt help but laugh that there is a debate what it represents its obviously a PMD, what else has that color?
@tightlinevideo

Umm.. a Light Cahill or maybe a Cream Cahill. What am I missing here.
@GregariousAntithesis
@GregariousAntithesis Год назад
@@tightlinevideo it represents the actual fly a pale morning dunn mayfly. Look at a picture of a PMD the colors are very similar and granted the cahill was not tied with an extended body on the older ties it to me looks really close to a mayfly.

@@tightlinevideo you said it is controversial what it represents was my laugh.
