Why is your youtube channel so empty? You could have detailed specs on your materials and get a lot more business from youtube viewers. I dont know anything about this stuff and this video is about the only place to find info.

Nice video, I am intrested in putting led lights on a small circular piece of that colored acrylic to be used behind a volume control knob, so when you look at the knob you just see a nice colored ring, can you help me in choosing the right colored material, am going to use the leds very close behind the acrylic.

Pretty good video. At 4:26 you mistakenly say that the blue #2114 has less transmission than #2050. Actually, the transmission of 2114 is 2% and the Transmission of 2050 is 1.1%

Thanks for the video. Is that special dark acrylic somehow special or is this just the light diffusing layer made in special way to look dark? I mean - is it possible to achieve the same effect with plain acrylic but just put that "special" diffusing layer on it? What if I need it to be a different shape - not flat, but rounded, like a ring? Can it be bend or is it possible to order the dark LD acrylic molded to a 3D model?
@pocketknifestore
@pocketknifestore 8 лет назад
+camelCased You are very welcome. The acrylic by them self is made this way, there is no diffused film applied, i know there are some ion the market, but so far not special this kind. To get a shape, you can use a CNC router ( look on my other videos ) or laser cut, advantage of laser is the edges re polished then ( clear ) with a router there are matte ( sometimes made under purpose, if the edge needs to break the light, as example ( clear with matte or satin edge ). Bending is possible in the case of the 3mm with a heat gun, heat bender or for small parts a flame, but you have to be careful. On the website from Acrylite is a spec sheet, please look also there for additional information.
@camelCased
@camelCased 8 лет назад
+TESO ( formerly pocketknifestore ) Thanks for the information. I'm curious, would it be possible to manufacture something completely round like the shapes here: sceneslighting.en.alibaba.com/productgrouplist-801900231/LED_Lightings.html using that special black acrylic? Do you know any company who could produce such custom round shapes for initial prototypes and later maybe even for mass production?
@pocketknifestore
@pocketknifestore 8 лет назад
+camelCased Yes, that would be possible, it calls Thermoforming, unfortunately i never worked with companies together who did this, but i am sure if you look there are plenty out there. Just ask them what you want and if it is possible to get a sample before production, so you can check the quality. There are different ways for the process to do, so i would go to the website from Acrylite, get the spec and may order a sample. Find a company you prefer to deal with and ask them directly, may they do some shape from a product before, but in the acrylic you "gave" them, just to see that it turns out as you expect.

@@pocketknifestore hi, sorry to bother you, but you seem to be very knowledgeable about this. I have a problem where LEDs are super close to acrylic, I'm I can't diffuse it enough cause it's so close, maybe you have a solution? Or advice on what acrylic to use? If you can, email me at laimonasdirmeikis@gmail.com, I can explain better there

Thank you. But shouldn't it be the other way around? - More transmission means it lets more light through and so makes it brighter. More transmisson = Brighter. Less transmission = darker.
@pocketknifestore
@pocketknifestore 9 лет назад
Yes, you are right. More transmission = more light comes true, less transmission = less light comes true, depends on the particles inside, sorry unfortunately i spelled this in the wrong way. Thank you for the advise.

Hilfe wäre seeeehr nett, verzweifle schon halb
@pocketknifestore
@pocketknifestore 7 лет назад
Hallo Remundo Gomez , ich weiss genau was du meinst. US/us/category.htm?$category=ga7iwmq7gnt

@pocketknifestore
@pocketknifestore 7 лет назад

will light go through both the front and back?
@pocketknifestore
@pocketknifestore 7 лет назад
Yes, it will go trough both sides. But keep in mind if one site is matte, ( grain ) it would be best if this side is inside. on a 3mm panel it doesn't makes a huge difference but as soon you go with a thicker, it does. Also it depends on the transmission and if vinyl or a graphic will be applied. How fahr the lights are away and what angle the lens has. I hope this helps a bit, if you have any other questions, please let me know.

@dinocat7490
@dinocat7490 5 лет назад
Michael Moore unless you are going to build side markers from the ground up, I suggest opening up your original side markers cutting them open with a dremel tool, creating the back out of plexiglass, and using a Circuit on Board LED bar glued to the plexiglass. Make sure the color of the LED is red if using for the back side markers. Seal the plexiglass and sidemarker plastic with silicone to reassemble. This will be a lot better than using this diffuser. You can find my creations online on: www.mazda-speed.com/forum2/index.php/topic,26227.0.html If you need help let me know.
