I love this form factor of travel trailer (no slide, narrow body, tandem axle), but I have a few notes: • With the suspension and solar packages outfitted, they’re advertising this unit as a capable off grid boondocker. I think they got a lot right with that, including the two way water heater. I’d prefer the two way fridge. • Simple lighting in the pass through cargo area wouldn’t be a huge ask, especially at the price point. • I’d would rather have a shorter awning with a window than no window, but it’s not a dealbreaker…just missed. • A north-south 2 burner cooktop would be more than sufficient and use up less precious counter space to than the wide cooktop on this unit. • I don’t miss the oven, especially in this size class. • The dinette situation could be improved storage access wise, or incorporate a breakfast bar instead. • Would love a window in the bathroom, but awesome that a big fan is in there. • Not a fan of the compartmentalized bunk storage. Love the side cargo door, but I’d prefer to swing the whole bunk top up out of the way and not have that partition on the bottom to take advantage of the whole space, if that makes sense. Ember has that down. • Prefer the built in ladder and agree with expanding solar on the roof rails - it’s just too high for loading anything else, and impacts your height limits. • WOW, love that armored sewer drain and enclosed valves. • I know it’s not “four seasons” but with the heavy roof, fully enclosed sewer valves and pipe, and heated tanks, I feel this one would do well when it drops below freezing and with snow. • At least on camera, all the white upholstery would get dirty pretty quick, especially on an “off grid” focused model. I’d love to see a more earth tone interior, perhaps saddle brown upholstery with forest green cabinets? It would provide a more rugged aesthetic to match the trailer’s capabilities. Thank you for the tour! I love what they’re doing at Ibex, just a few tweaks would make this one about perfect.
I LOVE the suspension, the ample CCC and the fact that Ibex created a metal guard/support around the sewer dump outlet to protect it. I'd love to see more mfgs do that, especially Ember. I'd like to see a bigger freshwater tank and thumbs down on no outlets in the cubbies by the head of the bed!
We own the 2023 model. We love it. Our gripe was there was no window in the door but I see they’ve added that this year. Can affirm what Josh says too, it tows very nice with that suspension package. I’d honestly take a shorter awning in exchange for a window in the camp side for just a tad more window coverage. Just some thoughts rattled off almost a year into owning ours.
PS. We also love the side cargo door because we pack stuff up in totes to go on the road and the wider cargo door on the side makes that easy to fit the totes in.
Huge fan of the Azdell walls! I will never buy a camper without them. Our EPro 19FBS took a direct hit from a full-grown, fully laden walnut tree while it was parked on the storage lot between uses about 6 months after we bought it. The entire roof liner and solar panel needed to be replaced. The awning, which was on the opposite side from the tree, was knocked slightly askew and had to be fixed. And the frame and axle were eventually found to be cracked and were completely replaced. The walls however, were in perfect condition, with not a single dent or issue. I swear the Azdell build is what prevented the camper from being pancaked by that monster tree and protected the camper next to ours from obliteration. It shouldn't have still been standing. ❤
Yeah, baby! This is my rig!!! This is the poor man's Ember! (I still love you, Ember; we're saving up! 240TKR♥) We've packed it up with all three kids. We converted the cargo space into a third bed. You can absolutely fit a folding e-bike. You can also fit a 10-year-old, lol! We tried to "bake" a pizza in the "oven." Yeah, it was what you would expect. Terrible. It's a great microwave, though, and super quiet! We've put a shoe garage in. There's power and gas under there, so you just need some zip ties to keep it clean. But it fits shoes for a family of 5. There are only two things I wish it had: 1. external solar port for expanding the solar even more 2. the stove is not our favorite; it doesn't have a piezo or electric ignitor, so we have to keep matches and a BBQ lighter. But honestly, we don't use the inside stove much.
We have had the 19mbh for a little over a year now and for a small family of 4 who uses it for camping we love it! Also pulls amazing it is very well balanced we pull it with a 21 ford explorer!
Thanks so much for sharing your sense of humor. You were on point here! Life can be gritty and it’s easy to forget to laugh. It can be better for us than some medicines sometimes. Nice little unit. Storage compartment is a bit awkward but serves its purpose. I like that it’s there. I also like the fixture over the table. Lots of bases covered here. The biggest indoor deficit I see is prep space in the kitchen.
@JoshtheRVNerd I tapped into the outlets on the front of the closets, both household and 12v and ran lines. I did have to cut holes for the outlets, but it's nice to have both back there for charging, etc. I made a bunch of upgrades: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i8xa-styrYU.htmlsi=IF5YwXk7k9vO_H_-
Hi Josh! I agree with the more storage in the kitchen and in the dinette with putting shoes in a rack in the dinette seat. The Murphybed is good. Bath is ok! I like the out door kitchen. With the griddle. Thank you Josh for showing this one.
I could see this one potentially working well with a bar type table and stools. I like this one, especially the off road options. I would still do a no bunks option. I like that there are no slides as well. The solar for me I want a minimum 800 watts, but I can upgrade that.
I think that camper is a really nice design inside w/ some perks. One thing I’ve wished for in the 2 campers I’ve owned is more household electric outlets. The camper I have now has one power outlet in the kitchen and I have a 31’ camper. it’s not a small kitchen. This camper seems to have a lot of outlets for its size. In the dinette, I would go with a side mount table with/ fold down option. I would also suggest a fold down counter extension. I’m looking for a couples camper, but I think this is an extremely good option for someone that needs the extra bunk room. I also think this camper would serve you well for many years if you maintain it well.
I think I love this one. The random axle is the best part!! Ninja are a bonus snd can slide in big items. Bunks for any grandkids. Decent kitchen. Nice bathroom. I’m sold . What about a price range? Ok one minor thing. A flip up added counter would be most helpful on that counter!
I think overall this is better than the bullet, even though the bullet has some things I like. E.g. Pockets in the wall of the bunk, a little better kitchen counter top space/shape,(not much, but a little) better shape table top, but I prefer the decor, bathroom shape, cargo space, no floor vents, seating area, so I do think this one wins, plus it has a vacuum lol!
Love the Ibex line. Great bathroom for a corner style. Nice decor, including colors and light fixture. Honestly, missing drawers and would love to see some storage under the dinnette.
The rugged suspension etc. would work well even trying to get from Ontario to Nova Scotia... a LOT of bumpy crazy roads if you want to avoid the highway. A cat box under a bed would be very annoying, trust me. At least if you have a cat like mine that will dig for 15 minutes at a time in the box for some reason. She is a weird cat though.
They stretched my 179bhkx 2ft for the north/south bed which was needed for the north/south bed. Fresh water tank seems a little ....Little. NO on vertical doors above sink, but they have the struts ssssooo. Awe hell where did the kitchen draw go???? that little chandelier...not feeling it. Net pockets next to usb in bunks for phone would be nice. I sleep in the bunks in my camper. bathroom is done right with the proper shower surround and curtain that leans out. Thumbs up. I prefer the in-line stove with glass cover. They need that bunk door for the 6ft tables and chair storage, because a 6' table wont fit in the passthru.
We got it. At the Andersen IN location. The solar sucks, replaced with Victorian 100/30. We ended with 380a total. Boondocks for six days below 40 degrees. The Furrion thermostat does not tell correct temp issue.
I like this camper quite a bit. I think I like the brand more because I like having a slide. I feel like if they’re throwing a pizza often in there that they should probably have put a light in the front pass through storage. 😅 fantastic job on the video. JTRVN.!!!
I think the low microwave for a bunk model is a miss from Ibex. Any toddler/younger kid getting a microwave at there level is bound to microwave a fork! Other than that, great camper!
It was probably a rhetorical question but: In 1881, the Arkansas Legislature passed a resolution that the spelling would be "Arkansas" and the pronunciation "Arkansaw." Lawmakers said it preserved the memory of the original residents of the state and honored the French explorers. The whole center of the country used to 'belong' to France before the Louisiana Purchase.
I really like the trailing link suspension. I think if they were to use a table mount that attaches to the side wall it would be better. Get rid of the bunks, expand the bathroom a bit. Make the cargo area larger by going up. The large cargo door is great. I also like the sue of thicker plywood in the floor and roof. Much more ridge. All of my camping is off road, or boon docking as you put it. What are the spike looking things off the top rear corner on both the front and rear of the drivers side:
Ok biscuits are good but when camping the only way to go is called pan de Campo if you don't know look it up it's a quick bread similar to biscuits but cooked in a flat skillet can be done on an open fire even way better and cooler
I opened mine up. The only thing in there is a water line for spray port, and that is where the propane cooker hooker hose tucks away into. I put some things we do t use all too often in their extra towelsand what not...
I have never heard anyone say they love the sinks that Grand Design uses in the aim series. At best they say it works okay for them because they don't do any dishes or they do them outside. Most people detest the sink and faucet in the aim Series so please please please please please please please please change the damn sinks and faucets there is enough counter space to put a sink like this and a faucet
Awesome to see multiple seating areas to offset the tiny “Denny’s” diner booth dinette👍but the lack of kitchen and interior storage, and the plastic toilet was disappointing😢
Few thoughts; white is probably not the best choice for the couch, front wind(shield)ow is not needed for me, I'm not sure if the trade for pantry space over countertop space is worth it, but I'm okay with most everything else (suspension package is great). Couple wish-list items; receiver for a bike rack and drawer for silverware. One thought I had was with how narrow the table is, it would be nice if you could use a TV dinner tray at the couch but the tray feet would need to go under the couch.
We almost bought the 19.1 toy hauler. Just too much fluff in the final cost. But we still have our eyes on it. The Forest River No-Bo has a more appealing color pallet (IMHO😊).I would love to see your review of either one!
Hello Uncle Josh 🖑! I really like the front window and the light blue and darker blue with the shiney graphics on the sides of the trailer, it gives the outside of the trailer a Retro look and I LIKE that!! 🤗 In fact, the entire outside is GREAT, no problems! The inside is a different story. The bed looks COMFY, but, I'm not too sure of those blue lights next to the bed, they might grow on me, cause when you turned them off, the inside looked kind of cold, so I will let that pass. But, NO way do I like a round KITCHEN sink!! That's a NO NO! Even though I do understand that there's not much room for a NORMAL REGULAR size kitchen sink, it's still a NO NO! I LOVE the nice sized windows, their GREAT! The toe kicker vacuum is NICE! The bathroom is a NO, the ENTIRE room wouldn't do for us, NO WAY! The flooring is very NICE! These were just some of our likes and dislikes for this trailer, but, if we had to give it a grade rating, we would give a C+ considering everything.
Looks nice 👍 👍👍👍 I like the huge rear storage, excellent place for a second spare tire 🛞. So with the roof rail system, how many more solar panels can you place on top of the roof and what would the total power be then? One to add to the list of 37 to consider. Can you get different decals?
Arkansas is actually pronounced the way it is to preserve the memory of the Native American pronunciation and the spelling of the original French explorers to the region. It is in fact a LAW that it is pronounced the way it is and spelled the way it is. Probably won't be ticketed for doing it but still is a law on the books lol.
Love the build and suspension. EPIC!! REST is gimmicky. Its like old-school guys know what counts then tries to do the wifes job because "I hear the women think its nice." No one needs an onboard vacuum. Good enough doesn't cut it. Do it right like the suspension or sit down and let the ladies take care of the inside. This is going in the buy used for a family camper thats going to get trashed or in the Burning Man. Damn shame because its bones are NICE!
Yo, "Unka" Josh, your central mini vac voice sounds JUST like it should...because it's a Tasmanian "Dirt" Devil...lol... I actually really liked this little trailer, despite the Murphy bed... and thank you again for your awesome content.
Needs under dinette storage, better outlet location for the kitchen (move the outlets and add a counter extension), and an outlet near the dinette for a laptop. Better yet, change the dinette to a bar and move the TV above the bar or to the right of it.
RW is a brand that absolutely has my heart and respect moreso than it probably should. Little details like you've mentioned absolutely make the difference
The Kansas versus Arkansas thing stems from English versus French settlers’ interpretations of related native words and how pluralization and pronunciation work in the two European languages. In other words, TL;DR “because colonialism”.
What if they got rid of the midget bed / dinette and put a flip up bar in it's place what do you think Josh ? , and I i like the fact it doesn't have a smart TV because I hate it when the tv is smarter than me 🙂
What about the solar controller, is it Bluetooth? Where’s the water pump? Does thermostat run ac and heat? Is the table required to transport down? Will a 1/3 fold mattress work?
I see too many RVs to know exactly where each individual system like a water pump is located. Apologies. Manufacturers changed solar controllers from time to time so although I am pretty sure this one is Bluetooth. It’s possible it could change without warning or notice to dealers. A table is always the best practice for transit I’m guessing third mattress fold might work, but I can’t guarantee anything because they don’t provide that and I’ve never seen it done
The hardest spec to ever find on RVs is INSIDE HEIGHT. I'm 6'4" and manufactures assume everyone is 5'8" and everyone will fit. I've researched a few then found out my time was wasted when my giraffe neck would be sticking out of the ceiling air vent ports.
I'd lose the gas cooktop. Keep open countertop for perhaps a PORTABLE electric skillet or induction burner. I jut know so many people never REALLY cook inside. At the least, you have a microwave/CONVECTION for the days where you might be forced inside.
Hello brother, What’s your recommendation towing a trailer for a Tacoma off road able to pull 6400 lbs. I don’t want to go over 4300. Really could use your suggestions. Thanks
Hey there. Without knowing more about what you’re seeking to accomplish I wouldn’t know where to start. Hard to offer ideas without even knowing how many you’re sleeping Chances are it’ll need to be a single axle at those weights though Our local teams at www.bishs.com/contact-us can help guide you further!
@@JoshtheRVNerd that’s true. I do want the capacity to sleep 4 adults. 3 at the most. If it has a slide out I’ll put a cot up to help Sleeping 4 if I must. Any other suggestions please by all means let me know or any more info you need about the truck. I’ve camped all my life tent and cabins. But want to drive to places like Montana Idaho upper/lower Michigan (I’m from Michigan Ingham county, Dansville) see forests and do hikes. I guess I’d like the capability to go off grid a couple of days to fish and hike. Weekend getaways thanks
They haven’t actually temp chambered it. Very few brands _actually_ test their rvs. But many still make unsubstantiated promises There is no proven number I can offer as an answer as a result
They don’t hard chamber it to test so I cannot say for sure. Frankly no towable rv is really TRULY “four seasons” and I would highly recommend steering away from that question. There is no real definition for that phrase and most marketing agents use it far too freely At best some rvs are chamber tested 0-100 but that’s about it Nothing is rated to handle -50 windchill for instance
@@JoshtheRVNerd hate the round sink, hate the convection oven below the counter, hate only 2 burners. Only one lower cabinet and no drawers. And I really dislike that simulated live edge, looks damaged. The overhead cabinet is OK. Move the oven over the stove and put in 1 or 2 drawers in its place. You pointed out the poor counter space. Maybe a flip up counter that opens to the front of the sink instead of to the side.
Yes. English was purposely created by melding a bunch of languages that were spoken around what is now called … wait for it … England, to help the population talk to each other. It’s changed a bit since then but still has that mongrel pedigree, with a lot of things that some people might think are redundant, that makes it so useful and still essentially understandable when being spoken “incorrectly” by people of different backgrounds.
Who wants to sleep over the stench of a litter box? Think it through, Josh. I would love to see a small camper like this with a true single motorcycle/cargo area instead of this... #NerdHerd
