Light Roll and BHS need a distance nerf, now that they fixed stamina crouch regen. It should also be noted that I did not even dedicated a build to this, I simply took my usual strenght build, colored the skin pink and called it a day. If I spend time making a proper build, I could have more stamina, better armor and more dangerous and appropriate weapons. This was simply to get the point accross. Also shoutout to all the random players that suffered while I was filming this, its funny because most of them understood what I was trying to do right away.

The best part is that, despite all the roll spam, you almost never went below half stamina. This would be even worse if it weren't in an enclosed arena.

Light rolls are fine because you sweats optimize everything and play the game well, which is very unfair to me as I don't want to put effort into roll discipline or build crafting! Ran into a guy earlier today who was super passive/reactive who would literally NEVER actively do anything unless I swung my weapon, and if his Bloodflame buff on his vulgar militia shotel ran out then he would just panic spam light roll even when he was safe to buff. Even when I finally got him against a wall and tried to vortex him with my zweihander he had such horrendous net that we could swing at the same time and he could hit me and roll away without taking any damage, then the fucking match ended because this man had been panic rolling for 3 whole minutes. Then he DMed me calling me toxic for using a lightning slash zweihander on a dex build before blocking me. The absolute shitters this game has created are unmatched.

A guy did this to me the other day. So i just stopped trying to catch him and made him come to me. Luckily he got impatient and made mistakes so i got him in the end but man it was so boring to play against. Definitely needs some sort of fine tuning. When the longest weapons in the game with the best running attacks in the game can't catch you when you just spam roll then that's a problem.

On one of the chats I’m in, I saw a guy complaining about people having a problem with his light roll build. He said something to the effect of “I’m not going to stop light rolling, how much more do you need me to nerf myself?” This is a chat that I consider to be of a high skill bar, with even some tournament winners. It goes to show that light roll has been overlooked as a problem to the extent that even high brow players can misunderstand how detrimental it is to the game’s balance.

What is even worse is that you can light roll in full bull goat armor at lvl 1

fromsoft could do what they did with separate balancing for pvp and pve. they could change how the light roll is just for pvp cuz in pve light roll is pretty fun.

Oh and it can get even worse if you have the crucible feather talisman on or the crystal tear on. You become basically untouchable

Similar to bhs perhaps a way to nerf light roll is to make it so the first roll is as far as we have now, then consecutive rolls, on an action cool down of a second or two (or between another action) are mid roll distance. That way you can’t roll forever with this setup and would need to aggress to maintain light rolls.

I was just thinking how funny it would be to get into the arena with the ape king himself. I would be super pumped and get all excited. I have a lot of respect for this guy, he taught me alot about skill in ds3 and elden Ring. And than this is what he's doing...

From is actually kind of smart to consider the match a stalemate regardless of health remaining. It stops people from hitting someone once and running away for the rest of the match, cheesing a win out.

There's a reddit thread of people circlejerking light rolls being balanced, and you're mentioned often as "G9 said it was op, he's dumb" and yet none of them managed to mention a single way to you know, catch up to light roll spam, or reliably roll catch it. It's not *as bad* as release BHS but fuck if it isn't in the same vein of toxic.

I think light roll should be left alone. You get heavily poise stunned from all weapon classes, including daggers. There is no escape. Edit: Stamina cost should stay the same in Light roll because u have no weight. Why would light rolling waste so much stamina?! All these unwanted nerfs because anything is OP now a days. Jus simply make a new build an get good

If you can play keep away in a small arena area, then you will never catch people doing this in a large field. This gives me Pontiff PTSD trying to nail down a phantom shitter while he is alone, and he is trying his damnedest to return back to the safe, dark, hole that is the gank he is in.

This video is good because on the one hand, Fromsoft will know to address it eventually. But on the other hand, all the shitters and their moms are gonna be rocking light roll builds after watching this. 😭

Bro the only thing that needs to be nerfed is poking! It takes 0 skills to spam running pokes all match. We need to work on getting thrusting wepons nerfed A LOT before anything else bro. Light rolls balanced because you trade durability for speed. What's the trade for spamming running pokes all match? What's at risk? Nothing. You get high damage, absolutely risk-free. Let's look at busted poke weapons first and get them nerfed. Nothing wrong with jumping attacks That's well balanced, but that poke spam got to go!

tip; use the equip load physik so u can negate all the downsides of light rolling. its still balanced though promise its just a skill issue trust me bro

Some of us were complaining about this for months. I think it was a problem EVEN with stamina regen, especially when we were just limited to mag. If a person decided they didn’t want to engage, fight over. At the very least colosseums have the time limit so you don’t have to waste 20 minutes chasing down people who actually use light roll the way you did in this video lol. Either way, happy this is getting attention now. Now we get to see some of the Reddit population magically change its opinion 😂😂😂

Thank you for the video. The 3v3 arena has been HELL since you can't punish light rolling. I have had many matches puppy dogging a light rolling caster so he doesn't snipe everyone and I can't even roll catch with power stanced spears, a rapier, or even a god damned nagakiba with spin slash. I've only caught them while they make a small mistake with a running R2 with a great rapier, and this is rare. So yeah it needs a distance nerf or at-least some way to roll catch it. On the flip side... there needs to be some reason to wear light armor (a light roll might have been a reason before). Do I really have to PVP looking like the dung eater for poise every match? Right now it's almost like pick your poison: On one hand you have light rolling, on the other hand you have poise trading, and the middle is useless.

Not to mention this is in an area all sides surrounded by walls

Yeah how do you balance this without removing light roll itself, should everything just go back to when mid roll was the only option?
