Watching your tutorials and man theyre good- you get right to the point and explain it in basic terms. One question: On Adjust Image- it shows two pictures. Is the one on the left the original and the one on the right, the one you're modifying? Select OK after that and it keeps the mods?

Hi Rich, I hope you'll be reading this very soon. I tried this method to crop the image and yes it worked! I was so incredibly elated I can't even tell you to think that I was going to get a beautifully detailed image that I could engraved instead of having to take it through Trace, adjust it then try to get a good image. Well, the problem is that when I tried to transfer it into the laser, the image would not come up with any type of successful image that could be successfully engraved. I was near tears. I was looking forward to having a super crisp and cleans image engraved. To no avail. I am engraving ceramic tiles. The normal method is to use CERMARK spray, then engraved at 360speed and 65 power. I tried a wide range of speed and power settings. The image either showed up on the laser screen as very spotty, I even changed the dpi. I really need your help as soon as possible. Thank you, I do agree that your method is wonderful and I'm sure there's an answer. It's something I'm sure I am just not seeing correctly. please help me. Thanks, Margaret I'll keep looking for your response.
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy 2 года назад
Not much I can help with in a text Margaret, but I can tell you it's probably due to the image mode you're using. Try changing the image mode and testing other modes, like Dither, Stucki, Jarvis and Grayscale.

Follow along with the video. If you don't select the layers the way I demonstrate, it won't work. Order of operations is important.

Yes Mark, select the item and look for the little blue dot handle. That's the curve handle.

I downloaded your Tealight file yesterday. What I'm wanting to do is take a PNG file or SVG file and cut out the outline of the image. Do you have a video showing how to do that? Like the way you cut the Christmas tree outline on your tealight panel.

Rich does the image your masking have to be a particular type of image? I tried it with a graphic that I had already created into a .lbrn and apply mask to image is grayed out. BTW Thank you so much for all you do.

No, it works on all images. Make sure the mask is above the image on the cuts and layers tab.

That is a pretty neat capability I was unaware of. However, can Lightburn do the same (remove background) on an irregular shape such as a cross or non-geometric shape? Thanks in advance.
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy 6 месяцев назад
Yes it can!
@GerryGeorge-ej7bc
@GerryGeorge-ej7bc 6 месяцев назад
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuyHi Rich, I am fairly new at this but I dug into the documentation and watched additional videos and it seems it can be done only using the pencil tool and manually tracing the image and then making the line a T1 or T2. After which it can be used as the mask and then you can finish it by flattening it. I'm just wanting to remove the white space rather than a more complicated background. It's very easy to do in either Creative Space or Imag-R but I would like to just use LightBurn, if possible. However, if I have to manually trace the image to get rid of the background then I'll just use Creative Space or Imag-R as my hands are little too shaky to use the manual trace. BTW, I've watched many of your videos and you have a talent for explaining things in a way that makes learning a pleasure. Keep it up as you are my favorite video teacher.

You can do it with any vector shape on a tool path. You saw me do it.
@GerryGeorge-ej7bc
@GerryGeorge-ej7bc 6 месяцев назад
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I know you can do it using a circle and probably any other geometric shape available in LightBurn to crop and mask an image. The image I have is Jesus on a cross wearing a crown of thorns with a white background. The image is not a vector and when I convert it to a vector there seems to be at least 20 layers or so with no outline I can find in order to make a mask. I know I'm missing something. And at 73, i'll probably miss a lot more. But I'm going to keep trying and I'll let you know if I figure it out. Thanks for all your help. Your videos rock!
