There’s no going around the dryness with color even if it’s not boxed only thing you can do is keep your hair moisturized

No I didn’t, I made sure I added a good amount for it to stay moist when I first applied and then I added a shower cap to seal in moisture.

I didn’t experience any adverse effects, however, everyone’s experience is different so you have to make the decision that is best for you.

I don’t know about that one. I always try to avoid doing multiple things that can put pressure on hair at the same time. I probably would do one or the other. But I’m not a professional so def ask a stylist.

I was wondering if peroxide alone would accomplish the color lifting. I will try it next time.

I think the baking soda just makes the solution to be more of a paste than liquidy

The hydrogen peroxide stripes the color from your hair, so you are free to dye your hair other colors afterwards. Hope this comment was helpful 😊

It does not matter. I would stay close to a sink for when you’re ready to wash it out.

I think purple shampoo can help if u don't like too much orange girl

I think it’s worth a try but I have never used purple shampoo. I might want to try it myself.

I eyeballed it but I say it should have like the thickness of coconut milk so add enough hydrogen peroxide to the point where it’s semi-creamy. I kept making the mixture if I ran out. Hope this helps 😊

Yes, as long as you are using it on hair that is not dyed it should work.

Yea I don’t think it works well on dyed hair. The baking soda and hydrogen peroxide are supposed to lighten natural color of hair. On naturally black hair it still takes a couple of application sessions to get a desired color. But it’s good to know it doesn’t work too well on dyed hair. Thanks for the info.

@@TunedIntoUs I ended up leaving it in until about 10 this morning so 14hrs. No damage though and it wasn't all a loss. The bottom of my locks (I was only going to do the bottom third - it's VERY LONG, to my knees basically!) was kinda grungy looking with build up and whatnot and I think leaving the peroxide and baking soda on that long actually cleaned my locs really really well. They are still a little damp so I can't be sure but they wash was FILTHY! lol! I ride a scooter too, no helmet , all the time so my hair gets car exhaust and dust daily. I wash every day tho but the combo did a thorough deep cleaning. I sprayed it with Moringa tea afterwards and they're still soft to the touch, no breakage!

I never considered it functioning as a deep cleansing method for locs. It’s good to hear the process for you wasn’t a complete waste.

U have to sit in the sun for best results

I did a test and it didn’t work. I added heat for 20mins total. I stopped and looked every 10mins so I didn’t go too far. I’m 3.5 yrs locked and did a permanent that didn’t take 1yr a go. Thank you 🙏🏾

It is permanent since it is stripping then natural color off your hair almost like a less aggressive bleach.

Exactly, this permanently lightens your hair so you would have to dye it to get rid of the color.
