I'm super impressed with your content quality! Very thorough, great pacing. Thanks for sharing your honest feedback on the Night Shift. It's fun watching my customers unbox and discover features. Ride safe out there!
Regarding the connect/disconnect issue you mentioned at the end, we encountered this more with iPhones, and have released a new app update to help fix this. Further, we are currently redesigning the auto-connect process to require less input from the user to pair. Stay tuned for an app update on the App Store and Google Play Store.
I love these lights but what if I want to commit to the tron look? 😂 I want the whole helmet to look like it's pulled from tron lol, not overboard but appropriately covered in lights
Your review seems the most true to life, you can see just how "cheap" it looks as with the advertisements it looks much more subtle and well made. You called out a few issues that can be a big deal that nobody else has mentioned, so hard to say if you had an isolated issue or everyone else is just staying quiet. I am still on the fence, I have an all black helmet and so this wouldn't look bad, especially for a Cyber Punk like theme, but if I want my communication system, any kind of camera, etc space on the helmet starts to be at a premium, and you dont want to ruin a very nice helmets ergonomics and aerodynamcs.
Hello! I have had the lightmode for about 6 months or more now. I was registered for the Kickstarter so i was one of the first ones to get a hold of it. The quality is extremely nice! And the battery is long-lasting! But the strips have like this almost gel like feel, and the gel comes easily off sadly. So i have damaged the strips quite a bit from placing my helmet on the ground. But that's probably a user problem. Don't place the helmet sideways so something comes in contact with the strips! It get damaged easily. Thats the only bad thing about it, the strips are not so durable. Plus i live in a country where the weather is extremely rough. So it has surprised me that i haven't had any other problem than the strips getting damaged. But other than that extremely good! I have been a very happy customer! So i recommend buying this product (and it turns a lot of heads, haha). Amazing product If you have any other questions, ask away :)
I would like to add that it's true the gel on the strips is not sure durable. If you ever ride on the highway, the small pebbles flung by cars will slowly take chunks out of the gel until it reachs the electrical hardware and the lights stop working
You get what you pay for! Having tried the cheap $10-$15 that are just 1 color regular LED on off modes I would pick this over them. Sure the cheap ones look nice at 1st but they don't last long you will be buying 2 sets a year depending on home riding you do. With all the options available on the nightshift kit the overall quality can't be to mad at it although it's overpriced bye around $100
Nice content! I'm hoping in the future they can offer a sheet of particular sizes. I have led lights that incorporate a brake light mode. ( They all turn red, when on the brakes) So I put a few LEDs up on the windscreen, and sanded the windscreen down, so it has a very bright, but diffused look. Gets a lot of attention even during they day. But if love to swap out from the point source light, LEDs, to the "full light" sheet, if they ever make/offer it.
One thing you lefted out thats actually a big deal. Is the free print pattern. You can download a printable replica of the light strips and try them on your helmet to see if they fit what they look like etc. If you go to the creators RU-vid channel he shows how to do it don't have a link right now I'll try to post 1 in the comments of this post
I wouldn't want continuous BT pairing with a device that doesn't require BT to continue functioning. Phone battery preservation is my priority. Perhaps you can agree that the option to unpair would be nice to have for some people.
Did you as the rider have issues with the light interfaring with your visibility. Eg while it's solid did it have a glow that interfared with your vision or while it was flashing did it catch your peripherals? Anything along those lines??
You should check out Light Mode's video on comparing the cheap AliExpress rip-offs (which tend to use LightMode's promotional material) to their products.
Agreed to price demostracións, it just like buying a very good camera with night vision for security and safety, like he said too high price for regular riders,
I would agree that the price is high, but there is virtually no competition for a like-for-like product. They do have a 30-day return window if you're not satisfied with the product prior to install. This is the challenge for a niche product that is manufactured by a startup.
I have been looking at these for a few years. As I do see they are quality. It's still pretty overpriced for what it is. $250 is crazy for this. I can see $100, maybe $150. This is almost as much as a helmet that the vast majority of riders use. I understand there is a lot that goes into the design and what not, but I can not see paying $250 for this. Instead of this, I took money and got a better helmet. I think it's wise to do the same. If you have money to burn, I guess it's worth it for the "bling" factor.
I would guess no, the lights wrap around to the front chin area. They are designed for full face helmets. Unless you can figure out a different mounting position to avoid the chin mechanism.
In my experience, I've told people to avoid buying these. The quality control on the Night Shift is absolutely fucking garbage. I've had THREE replacement strips sent to me under warranty, all of them failed in the exact same spot (the tail near where the cords connect to the strip). It's always the right strip for some reason as well, 250 dollars wasted on a shitty product.
Waaaaaay overpriced!!! With the tech that's out, it costs about $15 to make... Lower the price by $150 and I'd buy one.. I'll just wait till a competitor sells a better one for half the price. And they don't work properly on a modular helmet.
@@RunPlayBack eg @8:44 , but nearly all of animation you look into camera, and yes then you turn head a bit random. Its no biggy, I just thought it was a missed oppotunity to show whole animation viewed from side ie. the whole cycle running thorugh the whole strip.
@@ibrenecario7357 ok that's fair, so for this video it was filmed linear so installation was shot first then the demo. Once the adhesive is on the helmet, its super difficult to remove. I hear ya though.
Honestly the sad thing is is that he’s kinda got a monopoly on the market currently, so he can charge fuckin $250. I think at around $100 I’d be down for it, but at that price I can literally buy one of the new copies that have copied his controllers shape and just add a new chip if I REALLY wanted the animations
Mine broke within 2 months due to crappy controller was emailed loads of spill saying try new leads etc then it was the controller needing to reset all of which was bollocks the controller simply failed and LightMode didn’t, and didn’t wanna replace….. save your money
I'm sorry to hear that. However, they did replace my left strip light free of charge when it started malfunctioning. That was my personal experience, I can't speak for others though.
@@RunPlayBack That's a little to low. The creator of this device needs to at least break even. It surely cost him at least 10-15 max dollars total from all the parts. Manufacturers in China give huge discounts when people order in bulk to mass produce.
In reality the bulk orders you're referring to are in the 1000s or 10,000s . I guess you also don't charge for labor, stocking inventory, and other logistics..
You’ve made a fair and personal statement on how much you’re willing to pay without any negative comments. Personally I’d pay $50 but what it’s going for is way too much. I bought a cheaper one without any brand for USD5, the main difference is the battery pack, 3M stickers personally. Lightmode is free to charge what they want and obviously there’s a market willing to pay, so I hope they make lots of money- but it’s very pricey for what it is essentially. Consumers pay for what utility they receive and no they don’t care about the manufacturers cost and neither should they care cos it’s not their business
@@kai5703until the $50 light strip as function and quality as good as the lightmode unit, I'm willing to pay for the more expensive one, but you have your own reason to choose the cheaper one ✌️
